ThrillNetwork is the Internet's premier Internet community for thrill seekers around the globe. Since its introduction to the World Wide Web in July of 2001, ThrillNetwork has become the place for thrill seekers to "Sit down, log in, and hang on!" as they exchange news, rumours, tips, and information about the amusement industry. Whether it be roller coasters, theme parks, water slides, or other extreme thrill attractions, ThrillNetwork is a community where the adrenaline-minded can connect and share the excitement of always being on the edge.
When we relaunched with our current design in December 2003, we dedicated ourselves to editorial accountability and consistency. We have set high standards for stories as well as making sure our park and ride database is as consistent as possible.
This dedication, and our focus on content (namely news and our ever growing park and ride database) and community, has led us to be named a Forbes Best of the Web pick for the Summer of 2004. We continuously push ourselves to do better, as we look for ways to improve what we have and offer features that no other thrill seeker site can or will offer. It is that push that helped lead to this honor.
Our late 2003 redesign has also allowed us to begin an unprecedented expansion of our park and ride database. The expansion, considered a pipe dream at first, is slowly starting to become reality as we add non-coaster rides, which includes spinning rides, tower rides, flume and chute rides, dark rides, and even water rides!
We thank all that was involved in making this site possible.

The Idea of a Community
ThrillNetwork has adopted a community-based website model, in that the staff and members share the same common interest in all kinds of thrill rides and parks (amusement, theme, and water parks). We take the community model one step further by focusing on our members and by encouraging discussion on other issues that affect all of us, and do not just limit ourselves on thrill rides and parks. Since our members and staff are made up of a wide range of backgrounds, knowledge, and experience, we aim to make the site as enjoyable for a teenage enthusiast as it is for a senior enthusiast (and everyone else in between).
How to Get Involved
First, in any case, you need to sign up for a free ThrillNetwork.com account. Unlike other sites, you get a free park and ride count, a free custom profile, and the ability to participate anywhere on this site without being subject to a membership fee.
If you wish to help us with the content (such as editing stories, or adding new parks and rides to our database), feel free to contact a staff member and find out how you can! Any help is always appreciated.
Technical info for ThrillNetwork
Having learned from past mistakes of previous versions of this site, this version has been months in the planning, with initial concepts starting in February of 2003. Design started in June of 2003, with PHP coding starting in late September of 2003.
We rebuilt TN from the ground up... from a new version of vBulletin for our forums, to new code underneath all of our other content sections. Each section underwent extensive testing, from testing each and every function of the site to testing the validity of the CSS and HTML. We are 100% CSS validated, and with the exception of our forums, we are 100% HTML 4.01 transitional validated, which means the content will view correctly in any browser. In addition, we tested the site in the top browsers: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Suite (Netscape 6.x-7.x), Mozilla Firefox, and Opera.
Since this is also the first version of the site to integrate RSS feeds into the site, we take great pains to make sure that all of our RSS feeds are 100% compliant. In order for them to work correctly, they must be compliant, and there is no way around it. To find out more about our RSS feeds, go to our Syndicate our Content page.
In late 2004, we felt that after several years of domination by Microsoft's Internet Explorer, change was needed. Since this version of the site was built with standards compliance in mind, we wanted to recommend a browser that was standards compliant. Unfortunately, no other browser, including the Mozilla suite, was suitable enough for full recommendation. That was, until Mozilla's Firefox 1.0 came out.
In testing Firefox with our site, we found that we could not only supply the level of features that Internet Explorer users expect on our site, but we could also begin to offer features that were not possible with Internet Explorer.
In the end, we made our RSS feeds more easily
accessible so that they can be included as live bookmarks in the browser.
In addition, are developing an extension so that you can search our news
and database directly from the browser. Furthermore, the latest update to
SpeedZone was tested primarily in Firefox, the first time this was ever
done in the history of this site.
Since we have always been a fan of open source, security, and of standards compliance, we decided it was time to endorse a browser. With that, we believe that this site is best viewed in Firefox, and encourage you to download the browser to see the difference, which includes superior pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, live bookmarks, high level of extensibility and customization, privacy and security, and other features that you will just need to go find out about. It is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
