Ok, i went to Busch Gardens yesterday, and I picked that day cuz it was raining and i didnt think people were gonna be there. Boy was i wrong! That place was so packed I could barely walk! The food there was way overpriced, and like most parks, the food wasnt worth that money. It might just be I dont like this kind of thing, but that music they play got very annoying about 2 PM.

Now to the rollercoasters. I couldnt ride Big bad Wolf cuz the lines were longer than 3 hours (or thats what an employee said)...Alpengeist broke down while we were in line which added 20 minutes to our wait. And that ride isnt really intense, its just a fun ride. But I bet if i rode it a few more times it would start getting boring. Now ill give Busch Gardens the fact that Apollos Chariot was awesome for a hyper. That was the only ride that I wanted to ride over again, but couldnt becuz of a 3 hour line! Then Loch Ness Monster, that hurt my head and was kinda weak. I mean you go on the loop, then in the tunnel with the helix, then on the other loop. And I couldnt even find that little Wild Maus ride! And that leads me to another point. It might just be me but I dont like that park layout either. I think it is way too spread out and you have to walk too much. They need to put stuff closer together...like Paramount Parks and Six Flags and Cedar Fair. I just dont see how this got to be one of Americas Favorite Parks. Its bad! (and im not saying this to make anyone mad, its just my opinion)
You picked that day because it was raining??? LOL!!!!!

You also picked the day of IRELAND'S Opening!!!! Did you not know this? Everyone else did. That's why the park was soooo crowded!

Also, it's springtime and a lot of middle and high schools make trips to the park during this time of the year. If you don't know, I'm telling you now. Count on a moderately heavy to extremely heavy crowd on a Saturday in the springtime at BGW. Add to that the debut of their new country and you are gonna get a nightmare sized crowd!

Its my favorite park b/c of the atmosphere, and BGW has some of the best park food ever (better than PKD's at least) and its very lovely, not to mention the rides are great.
Wild Maus is in Rhinefeld, and the park layout is in a circle, with each little village connected to the other by a bridge or a simple sidewalk, and then each village is spread out over a small portion of the park, so its really like a lot of parks, circular.

BGW your least favorite park????? Take a trip to Denver and stop by SF Elitch Gardens.

4 coasters: SLC, Boomerang, raised platform launched shuttle loop (meaning you get none of the thrill of a powered launch, but you do get to walk a lot of stairs), and a wooden twister with less than a second of total air time.

Drop tower, short and tame rapids ride, boat splash, half a dozen spinners, and a water park. That is it.

Well, there is the lame, confusing, jumpled bits of theming, like the batman ride squeezed between a 50s diner, an Old West store, and midway games.
Couldn't say it better myself. And you did pick the worst day to go--next to July 4th And just a little common sense, the Wild Maus is right between Oktoberfest and Rhinefeld. I mean if you saw the Festhaus and walked your way to the Merry go round (kinder karussel) you couldn't miss it, I mean geeze, you can see it from Festhaus. And it never hurts to actually look at a park map once in a while instead of trying to act like a park veteran by ditching it

While I personaly have never been to BGW, I think that all of the people here are getting a little edgy when it comes to speedfreak having a bad time there. Those things happen. Don't be so hard on him. If he wants to hate the park, that is his business.

I've never been to BGW. I've never read a TR that would make me want to go there either. In fact, this summer I'm driving by it to go to PKD and SFA. Those are parks that I want to go to. Frankly BGW sounds boring.

PointMan, thats what I thought when I read about it. Its not 'boring'...it just lacks a good amount of rides. Also, Alpengeist doesnt live up to the hype, its not intense at all. Apollos Chariot is awesome! but thats about it, except maybe BBW. They have alot of shows, which personally i dont like, which might have been a problem

haha, 3 hour wait for Apollo...you gotta be exaggerating now, even on july 4 1999 the line wasnt that long. From the entrance of the queue all the way through every single row, it only takes 30 minutes...3 hours...

i agree, that bgw doesnt live up to the hype. I will say that it is a beautiful, well-themed park, but thats it. The rides(particularly coasters)leave something to be desired.Alpengeist is good, not great.AC is really good, but now that ive been spoiled with nitro, wont be going to go on AC anymore. BBW is lame, in fact, I have yet to go on a suspended coaster that I liked. and all of you that rave about Loch-ness, to be honest with you, i thought it was flat out BORING!i mean great adventure has more then double the good coasters(nitro,BTR,medusa,BR:TC,Rolling thunder,GASM)
not to mention all the flat rides GRaDV has.I too, will be passing right by BGW to go to PKD, and SFA.

LOL, you can't go to BGW expecting a THRILL ONLY park. Trying to say that their fault is by SPREADING THE PARK OUT and not MCDONALDIZING THEIR RIDES like many other theme park chains do by compacting them into such small space that very little is done to transport the average guest into some place they might otherwise never get to is plain ludicrous. I don't mean to sound too harsh, nor do I mean to be overtly critical, but honestly, if you went to BGW expecting thrill after thrill after thrill, then it is not THEIR fault that you did not enjoy yourself. Going to BGW for thrills only is like going to Burger King and asking for a Big Mac, only to spit at the manager for feeding you a Whopper.

If you can't find a ride, why not ask someone? Better yet, why not find a map? Did you take the time to ride the train? Did you bother aquainting yourself with the park?

I think your problem was you were moving too quickly to notice the small details about the park. The music might have seemed annoying to you, but to the others that have opened their mind to allow themselves to soak in the atmosphere, that music invokes a complete story, which captures the guest into a certain frame of mind secluded from real modern day problems such as political hypocracy, teen violence/shootings, and whether or not executions are constitutional.

I'm sorry, but I guarrantee you that there are far more people that complain about other parks' lack of theming/atmosphere than there are people complaining about BGW's OVERabundance of said theming. Quite frankly, I think BGW STILL has room for improvement to their theming, which is saying a great deal.

Once again, I do not intend this as a slam, nor as flame, but I want to state very clearly to those who might make the same mistake that BGW IS _NOT_ a thrill park! It's a THEME park!

CoasterFan4Life, you seem like you are from the New Jersey area so I just want to tell you it's kind of impossible to pass by BGW en route to PKD and SFA as BGW is further south than both parks, but if you are from south Central Virginia I can see where you are coming from.

I recently went to BGW and had a GREAT TIME. Its a excellant park with aome great coasters and a great atmosphere and good theme park food. Its nice to be in a park where people are behaved and its safe and you dont have to be hearded thru a metal detector because the park isnt afraid a patron will rob you or shoot you on the premises. Its my favorite non wdw/universal park and six flags could learn alot from them about how to operate a park in a clean and friendly manner.

Winkler, you were there on July 4th, 1999????? I was there too, lol. The lines were fine, the wait for Apollo was an hour for me.

I agree with Bob O.
Also, it seems whenever i go there, there are hardly any lines . The longest I waited for a ride was maybe 5 minutes for Alpengeist.

Just like Bob O said, Six Flags could learn a lot from Busch Gardens, but Busch Gardens could learn a lot from Six Flags, in terms of attractions. Imagine Busch Gardens with a Goliath but instead named Leprechaun or a Superman but instead named Greystone Canyon. A park with high class rides and the best themeing would be awesome...or have disney in the title...
Spring. Duh! And the food is worth the money!
BGW is awesome!

BGW can tend to get a little boring and to call it one of the best theme parks or whatever is a bit much. The park is absolutely beautiful and the layout is very easy to follow but the RIDES uugghhh!!!!!!. With the exception of Alpengiest all the other rides suck (YES INCLUDING APOLLO'S CHARIOT) i'm a fan of INTAMIN HYPERS. Anyway you guys need to give our buddy a break he is entitled to his opinion just as i am.
