I've been watching The Simpsons religiously since the first half-hour episode. Since Matt Groening stepped down from writing, has the show suffered?

I don't think it's suffered still as funny as ever.

I didn't even know he stepped down. I guess that should answer your question right there.

It is still the best comedy on TV. They just need to release ALL episodes on DVD. Yeah?

I agree, a full DVD collection of the Simpsons would be the best.

I don't like the older ones, actually. I think they should release the episodes on DVD. They should separate the volumesby season or old (Matt) and new (no Matt)

When did Groening leave the show?

he is still there, he's still in charge but he doesn't have much involvement with the plotlines and the animating as he is focusing on making futurama a success
anyway, it's still as great as ever

I think its still funny as hell, but i think since Matt Groening left, the plots have been weaker.

i didn't really like the first ones, they were too touchy and not funny enough, the recent ones were hillarious, and i think also had good plots. the barts day/ homers day. lisa's day one was perfect!

I think this series was developed wonderfully. The first ones all had engrossing storylines and weren't very funny, they just got you to know the characters. And since you already know the characters very well the new ones rely on all out humor.

The first ones: Bad animation, funny/good stories
Mid: Good animation, great stories
Now: Great animation, odd, off the wall stories

It may just be me, but I think the funniest ones were in that Mid period, anything before this season, with the good animation.

Also, has anyone else heard the rumours about The Simpsons being cancelled, and a movie coming out? (With Bart as a teenager)
That's what I've heard...

I think that every season has been good except for the 1999-2001 season. That was the most ridiculous season of all time. That episode where bart becomes the jockey and all? What was up with that? I found nothing funny about that one along with most of the others from that season. Other than that, I love the show. And to answer your question, I have heard nothing about a movie, and all of the people have signed contracts to do the voices for at least 2 more seasons with the option of a third. And the seasons are going to be released on DVD starting this fall. Season one comes out this fall and one more season will be released every six months. I can't wait! It's gonna be so cool!

I think theyre running out of storylines and theyre just getting too stupid . The jokes still kick ass

the story lines are non-existent, but the jokes ares till there...but then is far better, maybe not the drwaings, but definently in the story lines

The stories have fallen to the levels of stupid cartoons but with such strong charcters can the show ever fail? and i have no seen a nice real family episode alá simpsons on an open fire (the christmas pilot) in a looooong time....

I personally like the older episodes better than the current ones because they are just more interesting to me. Is there anyone here who actuallly dislikes The Simpsons?

I heard that on the Simpsons movie... Bart loses his virginity.

Once Phil Hartman died... I think the show lost something but its still incredibly funny.
