What do you think that Vekoma will do to the Vampire over this year? If it's taking a year it must almost definately be having its track changed.

I have also heard many people say that the cars are going to be different, lots of people said it's going to have open floored cars which would greatly increase the rides effect!

What do you think?

I think everything apart from the track will change. I hear there will indeed be new trains, as in different to the last ones, not just fresh.

Also, I think there will be an extensive pre-show. Basically, I think the Vampire will be turned into a stronger themed experience.

The Vampire will have most of thr £4.5 Million spent on re themeing, and making the station an "interactive" experience. The trains will be changed, which will result in slight track changes..nothing huge though.
Remember CWoA is a family park now, so it won't be getting in-line twists or anything too scary. That'll be Thorpe getting rides like that.
I know this as I am a CWoA Employee.

i didn't know vampire refurbishment was costing £4.5m

I wonder how they will make the station into an exerience.

Maybe Vampire will have stand up cars that hang beneth the track. Only a few changes would have to be made and give a whole new thrill aspect to chessington world of adventures.

I suspect that the refurbishment will be similar to that of Trauma Towers at Blackpool - ie.e a haunted house style walkthrough leading to a ride.

Yeah, sorry I forgot about including the park name!

Wow, there's another ride called Vampire in need of a makeover? They should make a tv show on this called "changing vampires"

Vampire is a ridiculously lame coaster at the moment...the whole ride is spent waiting for the drop into the tunnel which produces about 1/2 a second of high g's. This is the highlight of CWoA. ANY changes that are made will be for the best...in fact the best change that can be made would be to knock the whole thing down and the use the space that it takes up for a REAL coaster...not that measly little peice of crap! grrrr...I hate it with a passion!!!
C'mon guys, any of you that know the Vampire will know that it was built for younger coaster fans. I rode the Vampire when it first opened, I'm 31 now and probably would go on it just for a giggle if I took my niece to CWoA. Why rip it down for heavens sake? The people for which it was originally designed for love it. It is a good ride for people that are unsure about coasters, or those that have never ridden one before.

For those that don't know Chessington, it is set in probably one of the best pieces of theming in the UK. The way that Translyvania is done is very cool, with all the buildings and stuff around it. I guess it would be very hard to tear it down, or rebuild it too much. Let's just hope the new cars are able to travel a little faster, the track a little smoother and the tunnel a little more intense.

I went on the vampire before it closed and although it wasnt that intense it was really shakey.

Saw a pic of it on RCDB, the cars sort of look like those that were on PKI's Bat, are they the same trains?

I think the rides a classic, why would they change it?

Gareth Lewis

They arent changing it, they are updating it with a new computer system, new trains and replacing old track, not actually altering the layout itslef, just ensuring the ride lasts way into the future, the Vampire is indeed a classic.

There was a Boomerang at SFKK called Vampire, now Flashback at SFNE, but this discussion is about the Vampire suspended coaster at Chessington in England.

classic doesnt matter. new bigger better coasters bring in WAY more money than classic ones with "sentimental" value. tear it down i say.

well this seemed like the best topic to put this in.

Vampire at Chessington's World of Adventure is now open (finally)with three new Suspended floorless trains. Anyone ride it yet?

Yesterday I went down to Chessington World of Adventures to check out the new Vampire. The world's first suspended coaster to feature "floorless" trains.

I never rode the original Vampire, but the ride is now my favorite suspended coaster, beating Big Bad Wolf, Top Gun, and Ninja.

Has anyone else ridden it yet, and what did you think?

I really hope they put these trains on all suspended coasters because a ride in the front seat is so sweet!
