The second ride sounds like a huss frisbee. Could it possibly be one of the much talked about Huss Giants?

sounds kinda like a giant frisbee.... but it said 3.5 million invesment... you figure the new theatre is prolly a few hundred thousand, and the skate is probably several thousand dollars... is there enough left for a giant Flat? What does one of those run? i think i read somewhere TR:TR (Top Spin) was somewehre around 7 million for the ride itself???? am i wrong?

I'm not sure of a Giant, Falfas said it was proven technology, and the only Giant Frisbee isn't even open to the public yet, so I'm thinking "The revolution" will be a normal Huss Frisbee. I'm very sad  to see The Tampico Tumbler go away, because I have not been a KBF trip without a ride on it.

I think what he meant is that the technology has been used in something else. That "something else" is what is proven.

i find it hard to believe that a giant top spin could be 7 million. Most woodies that are bieng built are less than that

I heard that some teal Intamin supports are onsite at KBF and that Xcelerator is being modified for 2003. There's a pic over at coasterforce (http://www.coasterforce.com).

There's also a lot of discussion about what exactly those parts are for. They include some sort of clips, cable hooks, and cable. My guess is that it's to add some cable support to the top hat to help reduce it's swaying, much as you see on the fan turns of some wood coasters.
It's definately NOT an Xcelerator Jr for the kids, as at least one site was speculating.

awww I was looking forward to Mini-Xcel...
hehehehehe I'm begining to wonder if this will a Huss at all. There are a lot of Flat rides that
"...looks like a giant pendulum, with a spinning, cup-like vehicle at the bottom."

Huss is the way to go but, there are others. Huss has a reputation of low downtime and consistant products, but you will pay for them and pay big.

I Love Huss, but there are other companies that make reliable, little downtime (at least I haven't heard of anything bad about them) "giant pendulum, with a spinning, cup-like vehicle at the bottom."
Huss (www.hussrides.com) has the Frisbee (http://www.hussrides.com/54ClassicFrisbee.htm) and the Giant Frisbee (http://www.hussrides.com/32GiantFrisbee.htm). Intamin (www.intmainworldwide.com) has the Gyro swing (http://www.ridetrade.com/img/BILDER/r_THRILL_R/GYRO_SWI.jpg) (available in three sizes). Mondial (http://www.mondialrides.com/) Has their Revolution (http://www.mondialrides.com/ie/products/revolution/). KMG (kmg-rides.com) has After Burner (Click on rides, then After Burner) which is Chance Moragn (http://www.rides.com/)'s Revolution. All of these are definetly possibilities for the new ride, and we won't really know untill the official press release.

On mondial's website I see what looks like a new version, it is similar to the After Burner but has 2 smaller cups that look like they rotate seperately. This could add to the Puke factor. I have one question, which is better sitting in towards the circle or facing out away from the circle? I have only rode a version facing in and it was fun to watch other people as they scream and look like they are going to lose it.

I am guessing the teal supports are for the top hat as well. I think they knew something on TTD that they didnt know on Xcel. I think they thought the free standing looking track such as on V2 and WT looked cool, but now I think they are seeing that they need to make the structures a bit sturdier, due to all these strees crack talks I've been hearing.
03-23-2003, 05:13 PM
That sound neet to me. And yes they have had some strees cracks cause my cousen goes to KBF every week end becuse he live right next to it.
03-26-2003, 12:56 PM
Sorry, but there are no stress cracks on Xcelerator. Wild rumor with no truth to it.
However, they are using the cables and new equipment to reduce the sway of the tower, which will accomplish 2 things- reduce the chances of stress cracks ever appearing, but more importantly reducing one of the visual fears of people so that more may be willing to ride. The swaying was scaring a lot of people into not riding it.

Tumbler was one of my fave flat rides anywhere, it's a shame to see it go. Maybe SFMM will buy it from them, they need a few good flat rides.

Tampico Tumbler was fun!! so was Gran Slammer!! i am sad to see those go bye bye....hahaha...if a SF park will buy something from a CF park, i swear i will become obsessed with SF...

shoot i have no idea why some people are scared about the track swaying just watch Superman ultimate excape and wicked twister, they sway more.
