I'm going to Cedar Point this summer and am looking forward to it . Can anyone tell me if Top Thrill Dragster is worth the 4 hour wait? Thanks, I realy aprciate it.

Welcome to Thrillnetwork dude. I have not been on TTD yet, but I think it depends on if you'll be coming back soon or not. If this will be your last trip to CP in say 5 years, then I'd say wait it out. If you're returning soon, then I'd wait for the line to die down a bit.

But I don't know if you'd want to turn down a ride on the tallest and fastest coaster, and have that credit for yourself.

From what I'm hearing, lines are never 4 hrs anymore so you'll probly get a shorter wait anyway. I know when I go I'll be waiting.

06-05-2003, 04:05 PM
I'm hearing more like 2 hours.

06-05-2003, 04:11 PM
It will be worth it no matter what the wait is.

06-05-2003, 06:43 PM
If you are worried about the wait jump inline right before close. 2 reasons 1. no park time wasted and 2 TTd is awesome at night in the dark.

That depends, When i went last month it was a 4 1/2 hour wait but thats also because it broke down twice for around 30 min each time but i will say IMO i would not wait another 3-4 hours for it, it's an awsome rida and all just not looking to spend most of my day in line for 1 coaster, if the line looks like a 4 hour wait then go off and ride the other coasters and check back and 30min to an hour before park closeing or if you get there for opening head straight there and if you want to ride again check back before closeing.

im definetly waiting when i go there, this sunday, monday, and tuesday baby, YEAH!

06-06-2003, 12:11 AM
i really need to get some money to take a road trip up there. I have a cedar fair season pass from wof whcih is good there, but i need some money. i've never been there, i hope to go this summer with my grandma (she wants to take me. i have the coolest grandma). I don't know if i'd wait that long for one coaster when they have like 15 others. How are lines for MF now?? I heard they used to be 3 hours, but i bet TTD is stealing it's thunder.

06-06-2003, 12:16 AM
i think that MF shouldnt have that big of the lines, since TTD is there, but oh well well see, still a great ride

06-09-2003, 05:42 AM
The good news is if the lines for TTD are terrible lines for other great rides should be fairly short.

06-09-2003, 07:22 AM
Is there not enough threads about TTD.

Hey milhousetheking aren't picture signatues banned because I had a sig like that and I was warned to take it off or else. It says so in the terms of service banner up the top (TOS)

06-09-2003, 11:23 AM
I rode it 2X so far. It's worth a 2 hr. wait but NOT anything over that (IMO). It's soooooo fast that it's over before you know it. just when your brain realizes what's happening your already at the top & on your way down. The T.V. commericial is ALMOST better because it is actually longer than the ride itself ! & takes you on a virtual ride ;) *BTW The Launch is the best! especially in the front car :O

06-09-2003, 07:24 PM
So what's your opinion on this Tobster??

If you want to wait, the wait time is currently DAYS or WEEKS til they dix the hydraulic problem. Don't plan on going anytime soon.

06-10-2003, 02:04 AM
How can i have an opinion on the lines for a ride when it is on the other side of the world?????????????????

06-10-2003, 12:53 PM
its worth the wait if it ever opens

06-10-2003, 01:27 PM
Is anything at Cedar Point worth the wait? 18 coasters, and only 11% are woodies? Yuck!

06-10-2003, 04:11 PM
^I was under the impression that CP had 16 coasters;)
And 12.5% are woodies:D .

06-10-2003, 04:13 PM
...And only one of them is actually worth keeping in the park.:)

06-10-2003, 04:27 PM
I think they should do away with meanstreak also

06-10-2003, 05:05 PM
Why did you automatically assume I meant Mean Streak?;)

Wait as long as you have time for. Do not miss it.

I was using the count at http://www.thrillnetwork.com/index.php?page=database&func=viewpark&parkid=62 for the 18 number. Maybe two have been removed. I didn't have time to verify 16 coasters. It sounds like one huge flustercuck if you ask me.

06-10-2003, 08:47 PM
Well to clear things up, Diesel just counted all the coasters on the page when he shouldn't have counted Jumbo Jet and Gemini as two. Jumbo Jet no longer exists and Gemini only counts for one in an official count.

i actually loved mean strieak, if you raise ur hands up, and lean forward its not half bad as roughness, and the ride is pretty damn good. I HATE MANTIS THOUGH. AGRR WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP CONSIDERING IT IS A B&M, MY EARS STILL HURT

06-16-2003, 12:30 AM
I hear CP gives line estimations for the roller coasters, like how many minutest the wait is, are these normally around the right amount for waiting time? I know that in IOA, the times were about twice what I had to wait.

06-16-2003, 12:35 AM
yes cp's time predictions are amazingly accurate. Except for things with short lines, the lowest number they have is 1/4 hour so if a coaster says 1/4 hour it might as little as 2 min.

06-16-2003, 08:01 AM
How are the lines for all of the other coasters and flats? I'm contemplating visiting this summer. I'm going to PKI in August, and this is on the way from Baltimore, and my gf bugs me to go there. I wonder if this is worth paying a night's hotel rate, and admission. I hate lines. I won't stand in one any longer than 20-25 minutes. Are there any coasters that I could ride if I don't want to stand in a line longer than 25 minutes? What about flats?

06-16-2003, 08:33 AM
Flustercluck is now officially the best word in the english dictionary. Thanks Diesel!

06-16-2003, 08:39 AM
Thanks. I've always been a fan of 'defecate' too.

not at all................
i have been by mean straek many times..(and i love the ride) and the sign says 30mins or even 45mins..and there is a person looking how high people are right next to teh sing and when people asked how long the line is she would point to the sing and say what it said..yets the line was 5mins or even a walk on........how is that "amazingly accurate" :);)

06-16-2003, 05:38 PM
well when i've always gone it has been pretty accurate. they only have 15 min interval signs so its hard for them to be dead accurate

06-17-2003, 09:30 PM
I'm going to Cp in a couple of weeks and I was talking to someone up north and they said that TTD breaks down a lot due to the brakes... and I just wanted to see if there was any verification of that. If anyone has any info on that, please let me know. Thanks!!

06-17-2003, 09:37 PM
It does not break down due to the brakes. I believe all the problems they have had so far had to do with the hydraulic launch system.

06-17-2003, 09:39 PM
Yea. Not so normal: Read some of the post's in other TTD topics. They pretty much describe the problem.

06-17-2003, 10:22 PM
I read at SFN that the problems this past weekend were electrical.

06-18-2003, 12:17 AM
As so lately, just having the opportunity to ride it is the main factor. It's worth any wait if you haven't ridden it before. There is nothing out there that can compare to dragster, it really puts speed an height into a jaw-dropping perspective. But otherwisem i think a long long wait is only worth it for a night ride. maybe im just crazy, but i drove down there one evening 135 miles to get a night ride and ill tell u that it was worth every dollar of gas, every cent of toll fees and parking charges, and every hour i drove.

06-18-2003, 08:04 AM
CP's website says the ride will be down until August 25th.

Where did you find that on the site?

06-18-2003, 09:15 AM
I didn't. I just wanted to see if I'd start a panic. Maybe if I gave it more time....

06-18-2003, 09:31 AM
I don't think it would've worked. If people couldn't find it on the website, they wouldn't beleive you if you didn't reply.

06-18-2003, 10:06 AM
I'm sure some gullible person would have strolled upon the post and believed it.

06-18-2003, 11:41 AM
I probably would've. :o I'm really worried its not gunna be open when I go next week.

06-18-2003, 02:07 PM
Diesel, I believed it for a half a second... That was very evil... ha ha ha ha. I'm going next week, and am resigning myself to the possibilbiy TTD will not be open. Sure it was the final straw to make me want to brave the 10 hour drive, but what's a girl to do? I have my reservations set, and even if they weren't set, I'm dying to get out of NYC for a bit. Besides from all the rave reviews this park gets, I'm sure I'll have a good time with or without TTD.

Thats the spirit Kelly.

Dear Valued Guest,
Cedar Point’s newest roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster, is scheduled to be in operation today.

As I can attest from personal experience, Top Thrill Dragster is a ride experience like no other. I know you are looking forward to riding the world’s highest and fastest roller coaster.

With any new ride, especially a ride of this complexity, there is a break-in period. It is possible our guests will experience some intermittent down time on the ride as we work through these start-up problems.

If we know Top Thrill Dragster will be closed for an extended period, we will post this information on our website.

Please feel free to call our Information Line at 419-627-2350 for more updates.

Thank you for your interest in Top Thrill Dragster and Cedar Point. I hope to see you on the midway this summer.

Daniel Keller
Vice President and General Manager
