My first roller coaster ride was unforgettable! The Loch Ness Monster addicted me on that warm May day so long ago! Which coaster made you the addict you are today?

05-04-2001, 11:17 PM
Mine was Racer at Kennywood. I was so terrified it wasn't funny. After the first drop, I loved it. Now, I can't get enough of it! Aaahhh...the memories.

05-04-2001, 11:25 PM
Mine was actually Iron Dragon at Cedar Point..

05-04-2001, 11:36 PM
scorpion at BGT, i was a very tall 4 year old, my dad MADE me go on it. i was very pale, but i wish i had warmed up on something a little less scary...

My first ride was Super Dooper Looper at Hershey Park, but the one that got me addicted was also the Loch Ness Monster Icky, but I don't have quite the same interest as Jesus as you do.

05-04-2001, 11:50 PM
thunder hawk at dorney

05-04-2001, 11:50 PM
The VERY first one I rode was runaway train. Nitro, however, made me addict!

05-04-2001, 11:52 PM
B&MAaron-I think I got saved on Nessie! haha

CP Twister
05-05-2001, 12:02 AM
My first coaster was the Mister Twister at Elitch Gardens in Denver in 1979. One of the best coasters I have ever ridden. It is a shame that it no longer exists. I know Knoebels built one based on the blue print but it was modified and it is not the same ride.

05-05-2001, 12:08 AM
My first was a pretty intense one....
Batman: The Ride at Six Flags St. Louis

05-05-2001, 12:10 AM
My First Ever was Montezooma's Revenge at KBF. It's still a great ride, It make me the Coaster freak i am today.

Mine was on Runaway Mine Train at SFoT. That final drop seems huge when your 6.

05-05-2001, 12:12 AM
Tell me about it nyder...

05-05-2001, 03:06 PM
First coaster was at Boblo Island: the Nightmare. Nothing like strobe lights to freak out the uninitiated!

Medusa Man
05-05-2001, 03:23 PM
My first coaster ride was Top Gun at Paramount's Great America when i was seven. Its still a fun ride, but too short!

05-05-2001, 11:52 PM
Runnaway Train at Six Flags Great Adventure

05-06-2001, 12:08 AM
The Live Oak LadyBug, which none of you have ever heard of.

05-06-2001, 12:15 AM
Corkscrew at Knott's. I thought I was going to well !@!#$@! in my pants. But I haven't stopped riding yet!

05-06-2001, 12:34 AM
Demon at Six Flags Great America twice followed by American Eagle. Eagles drop was so big back then, now it seems to have shrunk very much

05-06-2001, 01:22 AM
Here's an interesting one:
Dragon Mountain at Marineland in Niagara Falls, Canada.
It was the second tallest looping coaster in the world at the time, right after Viper. I was 8. I was scared shootless.
As soon as I got home, i started drawing up my own incredible design. Not surprisingly, it looked almost EXACTLY like Dragon Mountain.
Ive been obsessed ever since.

05-06-2001, 01:43 AM
The Deamon at Paramount's Great America. I cried up the lift and down the drop and never stoped loven coasters afterwards.

05-06-2001, 01:48 AM
My first ever roller coaster ride was Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

05-06-2001, 02:22 AM
PKI Racer, in the late 70's. My face hit the bar, and I bit through my lip! ouch!.....then YAY!

05-06-2001, 03:38 AM
Drachen Fire, maybe thats why I like the ride so much while everyone else hates it.

05-06-2001, 04:26 AM
My first Roller Coaster ride was on the Side Winder at Hershey Park and i would have to say it is on my top 5 list

05-06-2001, 05:02 AM
Mine was Zipper Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and then it was the Rollercoaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach but my first ever coaster that I went on with an inversion in it was Rock 'n' Rollercoaster at Disney MGM Studios, Florida.

05-06-2001, 08:31 AM
The Cedar Creek Mine Ride at Cedar Point.

05-06-2001, 08:51 AM
None of my friends knew that I'd never ridden a coaster before. But they were my friends, I didn't want to go with anyone else. So I acted excited all the way until the drop, when I genuinely became a coaster freak.
Loch Ness Monster and Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
That helix and the fog coming out of it will stick in my mind forever.

05-06-2001, 09:51 AM
I honestly forget, but I think it was one of those little boardwalk ones. My first looper was SuperDuperLooper at Hersheypark, and the one that got me hooked was Batman: The Ride @ SFGA.

05-06-2001, 05:33 PM
My first was Wildcat at Hershey, I think. I almost fell out of the train I was so short. That really got me hooked. I rode all the other coasters I was tall enough for in one day, when the morning before I had been scared to death to ride 1!

05-06-2001, 06:09 PM
Mine was Windjammer even though it sucks it was fun the first time but not anymore.

Hoosier Hurricane at Indiana Beach.

05-06-2001, 08:23 PM
Wow. Long posts. Well, my first coaster that got me addicted was the Steel Phantom at Kennywood! Being my home town, I rode the Phantom the second year it was open when I was finally tall enough. I was scared the whole way in the line, standing with my dad asking him how scary it was. We got on, I was shaking. We are going up the hill, my dad tells me to close my eyes if I'm scared. I closed them, and when the hill started I just opened my eyes and held them wide open. I loved it the whole way! I love my dad for taking me on that for the first time.

05-06-2001, 08:29 PM
Space Mountain followed by the Matterhorn at Disneyland. I beleive I was 5.

05-06-2001, 08:31 PM
I was introduced on The Loch Ness and Ill never forget it

05-06-2001, 08:32 PM
Batman at 6 flags...not counting the Timberline Twister at Knott's

05-06-2001, 09:43 PM
Blue Streak at Cedar Point. I was 6 or something and I swore the entire way through it!

05-06-2001, 10:28 PM
My first coaster ride was the Thunderbolt at Riverside Park in Agawam, MA (now SFNE). She is still running.

I had ridden on those dinky ones but my first big one was in Las Vegas. On my 5th birthday my family and I went to Circus Circus's theme park. I rode Canyon Blaster. Never forgotten the feeling of my first ride!

Kevin Winkler
05-07-2001, 02:08 AM
Scooby Doo (waaaaaay back in 1986) before it was Ghoster Coaster at PKD (before Paramount owned it).

05-08-2001, 05:18 AM
My first was the "newly built" Grizzly at PKD when i was but a wee little man. Sad thing is, despite all the new and exilarating rides at PKD, its still my favorite there--strange that. Guess I am just partial to woodies, one reason I am agrivated with BGW. Oh well, I can't change their logic alone, I need supporters.

05-08-2001, 09:18 AM
Very VERY surprising... so far, no one has mentioned what I would figure as the first coaster haven... first coaster... very cool (at 8 years old), Big Thunder Mountain at WDW...

05-08-2001, 09:34 AM
First coaster for me was the Space Rocket @ LeSourdsville Lake in '69.

05-08-2001, 10:34 AM
My first ride was on the Shockwave at PKD, but it's a toss-up between the Rebel Yell backwards PKD and the Loch Ness Monster that led me to the coaster lover that I am! Drachen Fire does hold a place in my heart though. I rode it the year it opened, even though it lacks sufficient drop, it was an awesome ride! Skunky is right we should all have some kind of fear of the mullet.

05-08-2001, 11:22 AM
I'll never forget it....
When I was seven I finally mustered up enough courage to brave what was then known as the Great American Revolution and SFMM (now just "Revolution"). I remember how scared I was heading for that loop - a ride that went upside down like that was SO scary!
Of course, it turned out to be my favorite coaster for years to come. Unfortunately, it makes me sick when I ride it now with the OTSR's and loads of trim brakes. SFMM has killed a beautiful coaster - my first ever!

05-08-2001, 11:42 AM
The "Wildcat" at Woodside Park in West Philadelphia! Built by PTC in maybe 1927 and I believe a Herb Schmeck design. That was in 1956 when I was but a wee lad. My big sister took me on. A nickel a ride! Guess where my allowance went from then on? That's probably why I love GCI's twisters so much!
Sadly, about one third of the coasters I've ridden are now nothing but memeories. And I've ridden hundreds. {Sigh}

05-08-2001, 11:47 AM
My first coaster ride was the Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake Park. I was 3 years old and terrified. I screamed and cried the entire ride. I remember it like it happen yesterday.

well, technically my first coaster was Thunder Mountain at WDW, but my first realcoaster was Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens. ride it at night, it's best then.

05-11-2001, 01:19 PM
The super screamer at Worlds of Fun in KC. I screamed the entire time and was hooked for life.

Something at Disney about 10 years ago.

05-12-2001, 10:48 AM
Scorpion at BGT in 1981.
Thankfully, I've grown since then, and so have coasters.

05-12-2001, 11:52 AM
Do those battery opperated ones count at Santa's Land???? LOL
My first was MINDBENDER at SFOG - I absolutely love this ride - I almost cried there years and years ago when our family went and it was closed down for God only knows what - but, it won't ever feel the same green though, I enjoyed it more brown...
I'm surpirsed too, thought Disney would be in the lead...

My first coaster is a steel kiddie coaster, in The Mall, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I think it's a Pinfari Zyklon RC40. It scared the hell out of me. I rode it when I was 12.
The first coaster that made me addicted to coastering is in fact my first coaster with inversion, Rock'n Roller Coaster in Disney/MGM. For that one, I rode it a week after it was opened.

05-12-2001, 05:01 PM
Mine was Flyer Comet at Whalom Park. It's a nice little figure-8 woodie. I loved it, and must have ridden it ten times over the course of the day.

05-12-2001, 07:26 PM
my first regular coaster: Skull Mountain at SFGAdv
first upside-down coaster: Medusa at SFGAdv

05-12-2001, 08:39 PM
My first coaster was the American Eagle at Six Flags Great America. I love this ride. Sure it is rough but you have to expect that from a wooden coaster. And it is smooth considering how old it is. It is smoother than even recent woodies.

I can't remember exactly which roller coaster was my first. I used to be so terrified of roller coasters, that when my six older brothers and sisters and their friends rode, I walked around SFGAm with my Mom. But that presented a very strange delimna, because my mom was herself a coaster addict. So one day (summer of '83, I think) my mom made me get on the Willards Whizzer (now just Whizzer), I loved it so much I got on the Demon, and I have been a coasterhead ever since.

05-16-2001, 06:45 AM
My first coaster was the Dragon Coaster at Rye Play Land. I will never forget it, because the Dragon tunnel scare me and I thought the dragon was going to eat me up. I was six years old. My second was the monster mouse at Playland.
First loop coaster was "The Loop Coaster" at Riverside park, later the Black Widow, now retired.

05-16-2001, 07:50 AM
It was the SooperDooperLooper at Hershey.

05-18-2001, 02:14 PM
I started out late, (14) and finally got up the nerve to ride the Flyer Comet at Whalom Park. Rode twice that day and was VERY proud of myself.
Next year, I tackled the Giant Coaster at Paragon Park. (now the Wild One at SFA) As the train started to turn at the top of the lift, I crapped my shorts and held on for dear life. I think I rode about 10 times that day (soiled shorts and all)
Too many years ago and too many coasters gone for good. Let's tear down shopping malls and build amusement parks instead!
Steel & Suspended: The Bat (PKI)
Inverted: Raptor (CP)
Stand Up: King Cobra (PKI)
The one that got me addicted is still the BEST woody out there: The Beast (PKI)

Well my first ride was comet in Great Escape, Lake george NY. it scared the living @%#$% out of me but now i love it even though i'm 13 now and have been on much bigger coasters. my first looper was nessie. My dad told me it didn't go upside-down and even though i loved it i hit him a few times after it was over.

Big Thunder Mountian in WDW. I was 3, I think.
My first real coaster was Blue Streak in Ceadr Point.
My first looper was Corkscrew at CP.
-On a side note, that was just last weekend.
I ended up riding Raptor later (the BEST!)

05-21-2001, 01:00 PM
My first coaster was Space Mountain at WDW. I was 6 at the time. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

05-21-2001, 01:12 PM
First EVER coaster ride:
Wooden kiddie coaster at Williams Grove (1969 or early 1970's)
First coaster other than kiddie:
Glissade at Busch Gardens: The Old Country (as it was called back then. Not sure of the dates on that one... Glissade has conflicting dates... all I know it was a Schwartzkopf Jumbo Jet and it was the year before Loch Ness Monster was installed)
First REAL coaster ride:
Comet at Hersheypark (1977). This is still one of my favorites.

05-21-2001, 07:09 PM
First coaster rode, Magnum XL-200. I was only 7 when I rode it. Good stepping stone if you like riding coasters.

05-21-2001, 07:13 PM
Matterhorn! I remember loving it. Now, I find it too jerky and I like Big Thunder Mountain better. It even has a mini-"helix" as you may recall hahhaa

05-21-2001, 08:23 PM
I remember my first true ride was MAGNUM XL200 at Cedar Point. The first coaster to break 200', ushering in the age of the hypercoaster, eventually leading me to my current obsession with Millennium Force. No loops, no fancy moves, but a great ride. Still one of my favorites.

05-21-2001, 08:38 PM
My first roller coaster was the Canobie Corkscrew at Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire. I was about 6 and I was terrified. It is one of those Arrow corkscrew coasters.

05-21-2001, 08:43 PM
Wow. The memories. My first was Thunder Mountain @ WDW. My dad promised me he'd "ride all of 'em that I'd ride" so I wouldn't be scared of 'em. He's kept his promise so far, poor old guy (sorry, dad). Next we travel to good old Cedar Point for a shot at MF. Oh yeah, the one that got me actually hooked (believe it or not) was the Demon at SF over Great America. After I went on a loop, I was fearless and rode the rest of the coasters there!! Sorry I got a little extensive here.

Yankee Cannonball
05-21-2001, 08:44 PM
I guess my first coaster would be one of those little Go Go Gator coasters at fairs. I probably rode one at age three or four. My first real coaster was Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyworld.

05-21-2001, 08:50 PM
Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster at Canada's Wonderland {When it was named so}

05-22-2001, 03:07 AM
Mine was SuperDooperLooper at Hersheypark. My brother and his friend had to drag me into the queue line just so I would go on it.

05-22-2001, 06:35 AM
Mine was the Willard's Whizzer when SFGam was Marriott's, but the one that got me into it was Shockwave at SFGam.

05-27-2001, 11:08 AM
I really cant remember my very first RollerCoaster Ride, but I know it was one of two. It was either The Flying Fish Coaster at Thorpe Park, or it was a small RollerCoaster at Southsea Pier in England called SkyWays
However, I know my first looping Coaster, that was Anaconda at PKD, basiclly my dad forced me on the ride and when we went up the lift, I was so scared and was even crying saying I wanted to get off. But when I got off the ride, I absolutly loved it and I even asked to go on again, It was a great moment to get over my looping coasters fear

05-27-2001, 04:01 PM
My first roller coaster ride was the Racer at PKI and my first looping roller coaster was the Vortex at PKI also.

05-27-2001, 04:47 PM
My first roller coaster was the Whizzer at SFGAm. I think I was 9 or something. That didn't get me adicted it was when I got enough guts to go on a looper, Demon that got me addicted.

05-28-2001, 03:42 AM
aside from the disney coasters my first ride was montezumas revenge. I was terrified, standin behind the gates watching the whir of the train taking off. The train the had made so much noise during my days at camp snoopy. And then to find out , No otsr's i thought i would die cuz anyone knows those lap bars are skinny,

05-28-2001, 06:52 AM
Very good question, I know I rode some sort of tumble bug ride (if that counts), but for me the first roller-coaster I can remember riding was the Go-Gator. The Second was the Tobbogan. The first real coaster I rode was Iron Dragon. Back in those days I was even too scared to ride the Mine Ride, spent a whole day at Cedar Point riding spin & barf rides. How ridiculous!!!

05-28-2001, 08:59 AM
my first coaster was the jack rabbit at kennywood and my first steel roller coaster was the steel phantom(:( may it rest in piecs)

05-28-2001, 11:05 AM
well first of all, i have motion sickness. when i was 5 i went on some little kiddie coaster at Fantasy Island in LBI. I remember coming off sick to my stomach. I didn't ride another coaster for 6 years. But then i got brave, took some dramamine, and went on Skull Mountain at SFGAdv. The one that got me hooked was my first looper, Medusa at SFGAdv.

05-28-2001, 11:50 AM
my first coaster ride was the Big Bad Wolf and it was awesome!

05-28-2001, 11:52 AM
but nessie got me addicted

05-28-2001, 11:54 AM
My first coaster was the Judge Roy Scream at SFOT. It's a great little ride, and I remember when I used to think the first drop was really scary.

My first ever was Grizzly at PKD. My first looper ever was Alpengeist.

05-30-2001, 11:18 AM
i think my first coaster ride was on the big dipper at Geauga Lake (now SFWOA). It is a classic woodie it's about 70 yrs old.

05-30-2001, 11:27 AM
Mine was the Zipper Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. First looping coaster for me was Rock 'n' Rollercoaster at Disney MGM Studios, Florida.

My older sisters, (not my twin sisters), was Shockwave at SFGAm. My dad was to lazy to walk her over to the Whizzer so he just took her on Shockwave.
Please read my apology under "about the Goliath incident"

06-03-2001, 12:03 PM
My first coaster was The Beastie at PKI. What an awesome ride!!

06-03-2001, 01:12 PM
Beastie or Adventure Express, I dont remember. Most likely Beastie.

06-03-2001, 01:28 PM
The Laser at Dorney Park... I would always ride Little Laser, but one time we went there, my mom asked me if I wanted to try the big one. I said yeah... i JUST made the height requirement, but we rode it and I loved it.
My mom probably still remembers that day cause after I got off, I kept making her do it with me over and over all day.

06-03-2001, 01:36 PM
The first coaster that changed my life was The Beast around 12 years old

My First coaster was at my home park, Waldameer, in 1993, I wuz like, 5 then. The rides name is the Comet. Now for some REALLY SAD STATISTICS! O.K., the park has 2 coasters and this is called the "big" coaster. O.K., it's 45 feet tall and like, 1250 feet long, and the avarage park would consider it a kiddie coaster. So, as you can see, my park is coaster deprived, but not for long! Next year or 2003, were getting a 110', 3000' long cci woody!

A long, long time ago, in a land near now forgotten Smurf mountain, the Land Safari,
and the Old Dominion train at King's Dominion.
Was a small framed kid with a bowl haircut,
onto the Scooby Doo Coaster, by his older brother.
When the ride ended, that little frightened
Never to ride another coaster again.......

The first roller coaster that I rode that really got me hooked was the Tennessee Tornado. I was so scared of doing a looping coaster, but my cousins came down from Connecticut and said going upside down doesn't make you sick or anything and that it would be fun. So I rode the coaster and have been riding as much as possible ever since!

06-23-2001, 05:15 PM
My first roller coaster was the goaster coaster at pcw, but it didnt make me an addict. Until i was 9 i was terrified to go on anything that went upside down. I would only ride woodies, and i wasnt really that into them. Then, when we went to the exhibition in toronto, i rode an enterprise type ride and was lke wow, that went upside down, so i rode the dopper looper and i was an addict ever since.

My first coaster was Gemini at Cedar Point. I was about 9-10 years old, and terribly scared of heights. My aunt took me on it and said that it wasn't that high or fast, so I grudgingly went on it. By the time we got to the top of the hill, my face had drained of all color. I was terrified by that first drop, and pretty much the rest of the ride. When we got off though, I remember asking if we could go on it again. I've been hooked ever since.

[ This Message was edited by: magicsquid on 2001-06-28 11:09 ]

My first coaster was The Woodchuck at the old Elitch Gardens. It was a pretty short woodie that had a goor first drop, a few bunny hills, and the turn into the station. Nothing much, but it was my first. My second was Mr. Twister at the same park. That's what got me hooked on coasters.

The first I actually remember was The Corkscrew at Knotts Berry Farm when I was about 4 years old. They had REAL lax restrictions way back then. I actually had to sit with my legs crossed Indian-style so I wouldn't slip out of the harness. I swear, I remember every bit of this ride because it was so freakin' scary to well, a 4 year old.

07-02-2001, 06:51 AM
My first coaster was the old Walled Lake (now gone) Amusement park in Michigan. I was 8, and although I don'tremember the wooden coaster name, I do remember it scared me to death. Then came Mill Race at CP and Blue Streak...and I was hooked.

07-02-2001, 08:53 AM

My first "official" coaster was actually a Tobaggon coaster at a traveling carnival in the town I grew up in.
For my first coaster at an amusement/theme park, it would have to be one of the Disneyland coasters when I was 13. Unfortunately don't remember the timing of which came first, but it was either Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, or the Matterhorn.

Okay this is going to sound weird....
I honestly don't remember, I know I was on a number of smaller coasters before the age of 7 or 8 *when I went on the corkscrew and nearly passed out, and fell in love with the iron dragon, and the mine ride at CP, so those two are what hooked me....*
Hmmmm my Grandma Sophie lives in Munster, Indiana, which is close to this town called Schereville (or something like that.) There was a small amusment park near there. I'm pretty sure they had some type of small coaster and I know I went on it. I also rememer that they had a tilt a whirl (that I called the "thumb ride" a minature train, carousel, a umbrella ride, a carousel (one horse had a green ear, that's the one I always rode,) and some kiddie rides and bumper cars. I think my first coaster ride was there, whatever that place was called, and whatever that coaster was called.

My first kiddy coaster that I remember was at Opryland, it was a little red coaster with a lot of humps, that's all I remember, in 1982 a long time ago, and far far away...

My very first coaster was a small one at a kiddie park called "Santas Village", which is defunct now. Basically it was a slower version of CP's Wildcat, and back then I was freaked out on it, but I still wanted to ride it over and over! I guess I've been a coaster freak since the beginning.

Then, my next coasters were the Disney World ones in 1994, Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain, which are still somewhat kiddie rides. Finally the next year I went to SFGAm for the first time and rode Batman: The Ride as my first "big" coaster. Thats probably why I'm such a big invert fan.

06-17-2002, 04:56 PM
My first real coaster ride was on Kumba when I was 7. My grandparents lived in Florida, and my grandfather kept sending me Kumba postcards, because he was taking me there when I came down for Easter. I was really excited to go on it, but when I got there I was scared to death. I ended up getting too scared to ride, but my mom told me I would probably not have another chance to ride it. She then convinced me to go on it(she bribed me with a Kumba Shirt and Hat.) After I went on it I loved it, and have been going on coasters ever since. Thank god my mom got me to go on it.

I rode Mine Train when I was still a coasterphobe so I hated it. Three years later I rode the Judge. I said to myself, " That wasn't so bad." So I tried Flashback. After that I rode BTR and got hooked on coasters forever.

The Jack Rabbit built in 1919 by the Philadelphia Tboggan Company, and designed by John A. miller himself.not the biggest or baddest coaster but a true classic. I think i was about 4 when i first rode it.

My first coaster experience was when I was 7 years old. There was only one coaster in Israel and I admired it and was afraid of it. I could stair at it for hours, draw it but never got in . One Saturday iwas at the park with my Parents and decided to do it.
I was very afraid, panic is the word I think. It wasnt that big coaster but it wss horrible for me. I was happy to get off but was proud of myslef. Anyway I did it twice but then decided it is enough for life.
Just few years later I had the courage to get inside a coaster again and it was in Germany.
Still this first coaster is a kind of a "first time" - something to remember and I always abit excited when I ride it today.

Not sure. It was probably the "Scooby Doo" at Carowinds (now "Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster", and the park is now "PARAMOUNT'S Carowinds". Oh well.) If not, it was the "Carolina Goldrusher" (the Mine Train ride at Carowinds). Unless you count the "Dragon Wagon" at the S.C. State Fair when I was tiny ...

My first "big" wooden coaster was "Swamp Fox" at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach, SC. The first upside-down coaster I ever went on was "Corkscrew" at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion.

When I was like 4 or 5, I rode the Whizzer at SFGAm, and I was soooooo scared. I rode again and threw up. I had such a weak stomach back then. Now I get more queezy on a car ride.

My first coaster was Space Mountain at Disneyland. I was so scared, but once I got off I loved it. It was when I first fell in love with coasters, but I wasn't addicted until I visited Cedar Point for the first time.

Well... since this topic came up again, I guess I'll make my comment ;)

My first adult coaster was Mind Bender at at SFOG, I think my first coaster might have been Lil' Rock n' rollercoaster at Opryland. I was too scared to even go on Scooby Doo at Carowinds lol:rolleyes:

EDIT: Actually I had forgotten, but I think Space Mtn (DWO) was my first adult coaster. Scared me to death! I didn't want to ever ride that thing again. lol How times have changed

I remember going on the Scooby Doo coaster at Carowinds when I was 7 years old, and being terrified. I got off the ride, and ran right back on. I was hooked.

My first big coaster ride was on Loch Ness Monster the same summer I first rode Scooby Doo.

I think I was 5, the year was 1984. It was the Comet at HP. I loved it from the beginning. It was the only coaster I was tall enough for at the time. I believe it had a 42" requirement, and the looper was 48". I was somewhere in between. I remember we went to BGW that same year, it was the year that the BBW opened, if memory serves, I couldn't ride that or the Loch Ness monster. I was too short for either.

The Thriller at Euclid Beach, age 7 , they had no height restrictions back then. Sometimes, when I think about it, I don't know how some us survived those rides.
