How many posts are needed to unlock the different levels of avatars beyond 25, and to unlock the ability to upload your own avatar?
02-05-2004, 07:35 PM
There arenít any more Avatars. To be able to upload your own you have to be a member for one year and have 3000 posts.
I donít know why this is in ThrillNetwork.net Tech Support...

I didn't know where else to put it.
02-05-2004, 07:58 PM
Well, It's a question about TN, so I moved it to where it belongs.
02-24-2004, 05:22 PM
Is there any way that you can change the background color of the avatars from white to the 'grey' color that is behind it so it does not stand out so much? Thanks.
02-24-2004, 05:58 PM
No. Not that I know of. The avatars were mad eon a white background, so that's why they appear to stand out.

That question ahs been asked... we don't have the originals to change them, and when we tried to make one (for instance, your Intamin track icon), it looked very crappy.

Thanks for the answers. I was just curious.
So I'm guessing TN did not make the coaster avatars?
TN - more specifically, Tom Zeliff, an old admin - made the original avatars.
Steve made the newer ones, including the April Fool 2003 ones.

Are there any plans on makeing new ones in the future?
02-25-2004, 01:22 PM
There have been plans, but it's been a lower priority over site development and maintenance.
For those with 1000 posts and have been a member of at least 6 months (both are required), you can now choose your avatar.

MAN, thats a high requirement just to put a tiny square picture under your name!
09-16-2004, 06:52 PM
I prefer to think of it as an honor bestowed upon members that have been here long enough and contributed enough to have earned that right.
Unless you're like me and just hung around long enough to be asked to be staff so you could get one that way.
09-16-2004, 06:52 PM
Just live with it and press man. Post and be faithful and you too shall move up.
09-16-2004, 10:46 PM
Well, It is a pretty high requirement, but like Drew said, it is kinda like a reward. It doesn't take that long to reach 1000. It gonna take a bout an year. Once you go to this site everyday it seems like time flys. So you can do It.
09-17-2004, 01:35 AM
Think of it this way guys...first the requirement was 10000, then 5000 was suggested, then 3000 became the norm. But with 3000, you had to be here a year. I think what is "asked" now is completely fair.

I remeber for a short while, I was able to upload my own avatar. But then it was canceled. I was confused.
09-17-2004, 09:28 PM
I think it's going to be a long, long, long, long, long, long time before I can upload one, but hey, I'm almost halfway there!
09-27-2004, 02:47 PM
Hey how do we upload our own avator? Please PM me the process. I finally reached 1k posts! Yeah, this is almost better than Christmas. Ok not really, maybe Flag Day or Arbor Day.

Click on User Cp at the top of the page. Then click Edit Avatar then click the brows button at the bottom of the page, select your new avatar and click submit.

Thanks Graham. I'll see if it works.

It was 1000 back in 2004.

For up-to-date answers to your questions, please check the FAQ...

Isn't this kind of stuff listed when you sign up for the site? If not, maybe it should be. I always see people asking about it.
BTW, Shadowlord likes to bring back old threads...not that that's a bad thing. lol

That's why we have a FAQ, and why this question is in the FAQ... Those who have been too dumb to look there first before posting the question (and not one to clarify if they need it) usually are the ones we have problems with sooner or later.

I checked that FAQ link that you posted, and it stated:
"In order to upload your own custom avatar and to have your own custom user title, you need to meet both of the following minimums:
Have at least 100 posts (posting in the news stories, park/ride database entries, SpeedZone (2 posts for uploading a file, 1 post for commenting on a file), and the forums)
Be a member of this site for two (2) months."So is it no longer 100 and 2 months, but 3000 and 1 year? I was just wondering, as I did in fact check the FAQ before posting.
09-09-2007, 12:39 AM
100 posts and 2 months is still the standard.

In the future, please look in the FAQ. You, tedfuzz, should have the proper permissions upload your own. If not, then that becomes a support request, where you can email us.
