I have something against heights and flying in a plane. I don't want to fly in a plane because if something happens then u r basically dead. The idea of flying 11,000 ft in the air with a pac of jet fuel right under u in a closed cabin isn't very fun in my opinion, what r some things u people have a minor phobia against? C'mon admit urselves, it won't make u less of a man or woman...

I am petrified of heights but yet I also love them as well.

06-23-2001, 11:53 AM
Ok, I'll confess, I'm scared of:
Thunderstorms at night when I'm home alone
Myself Driving faster than 65 mph
Straight Down Body Slides

Swimming King
06-23-2001, 12:10 PM
I'm kind of claustrophobic. It's not to the point to where I won't take an enclosed MRI, or anything like that, but I hate going into caves and mines. enclosed coasters are cool though.

06-23-2001, 12:31 PM
im a bit claustrophobic being in like the trunk of a car would TERRIFY me.
Now, on the subject of phobias, I HATE people who are afraid of dogs. I know they cant help it but i cant STAND being around them when theres a dog around.
I am absolutely scared crazy of planes, for the same reason as you. If something happens its over. People say planes are safer then cars well that may be true but I am not scared of cars because the only thing that can happen is a crash. In a plane there can be so many problems with the engine or the oxygen or even crashing. Boy, this really makes me sound like a wimp, but oh well. Also a little scared of heights not counting coasters.

I don't like spiders or other creepy crawlies. I also HATE freefall rides, but ride any coasters, even if they're taller!

I love heights, but for some reason I can't jump off cliffs. I had a fear of water as a child so that probably explains it. Also Bees, I'm borderline alergic so I freeze when any of them come near me.

06-23-2001, 07:36 PM
bee's make me sick. stinging little ...

06-23-2001, 08:22 PM
I'm afraid of heights... unless I'm strapped in a coaster or any other ride that goes high, then I'm fine! But if I ever had to walk down a high lift hill if the car got stuck, I'd probably just wait for them to fix it!

06-24-2001, 05:58 AM
I am:
1) Claustrophobic (tight places)
2) Acrophobic (fear of hieghts {straight down, I can handle looking out i.e. scenic view...looking straight down kills me})
3) Ochlophobic (Afraid of excessive crowds)
4) Defecaloesiophobic (ouch)
5) Anuptaphobic (look it up)
7) Gerontophobic (I don't wanna get old)
8 ) Chorophobic (cant dance )
9) Phalacrophobic (I love my hair like it is)
10) Ophidiophobic (no legs, need I say more)

Well, I personally can't stand spiders and roaches. They both give me the creeps. I also don't like snakes, but fortunately I don't encounter them as much.
However, the one big thing I am afraid of is flying. With God Himself as my witness, I will NEVER EVER step foot on a plane, and there is nothing - absolutely NOTHING - that anyone could ever possibly say to change my mind. No psychiatrist, nor any amount of therapy, will EVER change my mind. I don't care HOW safe they say flying is, it just ain't a happenin' thang. Even the mere thought of geting on a plane makes me scared and uptight. I won't even consider flying from here to across the street. THAT is how much I hate it. And nobody could even offer me millions of dollars to do it. I make no apologies about it. If I ever want to visit Hawaii, or Australia, I'll just have to take a long cruise.

06-24-2001, 08:52 AM
I am scared to death of clowns. They look all innocent and funny, but thats not the case. The movie "It" was so scary for me that I fell off the edge of my seat.

About the planes thing, u want to know the safest form of transportation, it isn't a plane, its a monerail or one of those mini steam train things. Everyone just try and find an accident involving those.

06-24-2001, 01:09 PM
yeah i have afear of snakes, i hate them so much....

06-24-2001, 07:47 PM
I am scared of Loud Noises.I mean I am not really scared but it just makes me nervous like say when a real loud train goes by.I really am not all that afraid of heights I am just nervous.

06-25-2001, 09:55 AM
nasty bugs, vomiting (emetophobia!), heights (except for on a coaster , thunder if I'm alone, scary dogs, snakes, those mirrors that when you hold up two facing each other, you can see in each direction for eternity. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

06-25-2001, 10:19 AM
I don't like tall buildings. It's not being on top of them that scares me, but being underneath them. Also, searchlights freak me out (don't ask why, because I couldn't tell you).

Magnum will always rule!
06-25-2001, 05:22 PM
don't tell anyone this, but I'm afraid of the dark.

06-25-2001, 05:27 PM
I can get sick on rides like the Rotor. Does that count?

06-25-2001, 05:33 PM
I hate SNAKES!
I love flying! Flying your own little jet is better than any coater I've ever been on!

06-25-2001, 05:56 PM
I love flying its so cool. Being on top of really tall buildings is also awesome. Ill go on any type of ride. ANY. Snakes and insects dont bother me. and i love going fast.
Once my family was visiting my dads friend from college and he took me and my dad out in his special edition Audi. The road was empty and we went 127mph. Above 129mph theres a chip that turns off the engine.
I guess the only thing im afriad of is some ppl, like convicts and such. Even if they are out and have got their life back together or whatever, im terrified of them.

06-26-2001, 12:59 PM
i know this sounds weird...but im not scared of nuffin...oblivion...i thrive on height and straight drops.....i love flying my uncles jet and riding oblivion and nemesis and S:TE...i love the idea of been throwing around and not in control of where i go

06-26-2001, 01:07 PM
Unsecure heights: I can ride any coaster (I'm strapped in somehow) or go into any tall building (where I can't fall out) and my wife actually got me on a plane for our trip to Florida. But you get me standing on something that may only be 10 feet off the ground, but doesn't have something to hold on to, I am done.
Birds in an enclosed area that fly close to my head: I hate them. I don't mind if they are out side in the open... or if they are inside in cages... or if they are inside and walking on the ground... or inside and high in the rafters... But don't let one of those little bugger's start flapping its winds around my head. I will lose it.

11-20-2001, 03:45 PM
I'm a little afraid of heights and I'm scared of fish.

Yeah, thats right, fish.

11-20-2001, 04:14 PM
Balloons I think there going to rap around my neck and hang me j/k

I kinda fear throwing up. Its just not something I like to do when I'm on carnival rides or sick or playing football. Its one of the worst feeling for me other than get kicked in wrong spots. But throwing up is pretty bad and sometimes making the journey to CP is more intene than the rides there because of getting car sick is always in the back of my mind.

11-21-2001, 02:33 PM
The only 2 things I'm scared of:
* Having some permanent disability (and I mean a bad disability, like one that requires you to stay in the hospital for long periods of time, and maybe changing your life completely) and not being able to do things I do now
* Having people find out what I really think about stuff
* I'm a bit paranoid about some things
* I have what I call "off-days", which are days when for some reason, I think that something will go wrong in an amusement park I'm in. When I went to Cedar Point, I was absolutely sure that someone would start shooting people randomly, that the chain on Magnum was gonna break (the whole reason I didn't go on it), that Mean Streak would just fall down, that the seats on the Power Tower were going to fall off the little car (I still went on it), on Wildcat I was sure it was going to derail and if that didn't happen, that the brakes would fail and we would crash into the other car, on Corkscrew, I always thought the brakes had failed because the straight section is really long, and I didn't go on MF a second time because I was "absolutely sure" that the trains would crash. I HATE OFF-DAYS!!! next time I go i'll make it so that it's not an off-day!!

Bees and Wasps definitely! The only things I'm really REALLY afraid of! I swallowed one when I was like 4 or 5 and ever since I've been deathly afraid of them!

11-21-2001, 11:19 PM
I am terrified of spiders!!!!!!!!

11-21-2001, 11:24 PM
I too dislike spiders. The worst was when I was driving down 75th, REALLY BUSY 45 mph street, and a spider came down in front of my face, and climbed into my sweatshirt sleave and bit me. I'm not kidding, i almost crashed. It was horrible and scared me.

I am kinda afraid of heights, but like whnever I go to the sears tower, I wanna jump, it's weird. I dislike them, but I get excited when im high too.

Thats about i that i can think of.

I was once one of those people. I still don't trust any strange dog, plus I don't like ANY dog that jumps on me. Keep them below my knees and I'm fine with that.

Scared of heights a bit, but love flying and rollercoasters. The part about heights though...I'm actually scared fo the fall and the impact more than the actual height itself.

Also, a lot of you will probably laugh, but I am scared of swimming pools. So much that I don't go near one if I don't have to. Water rides are fine, but swimming pools scare me. I have never learned how to swim and still do not want to.

i only have one phobia, its of death. but whats wierd is, altho im scared of dying, i will pretty much do anything that is a threat to death. my future hopes to be for me to be going into the airforce and then comming out and being a commercial airline pilot. as soon as im 17 im going right out there and going skydiving. i've also went rock climbing, and that was really scary.

11-22-2001, 02:05 AM
i hate Spiders so much if i see the littlest one in my room ill run again my parents to kill it lol im also homophobic

I used to be afraid of heights, but then my friend took me bungee jumping, great cure!

needles and spiders top my list.....

11-22-2001, 01:31 PM
I am scared to death of Praying Mantises. Dont ask me why. I am scared to death of them. You COULDNT PAY ME A MILLION DOLLARS to let one crawl on me ANYWHERE.

I am scared of heights but not in the sense of the height, but I am scared of someone pushing me. When I was little my dad pretended to push me off a pier at night. Call it a bad experience or whatever but everytime Im near a ledge, I imagine someone kidding around and pushing me playfully, I stumble and then fall to my death.

I also have an extreme fear of throwing up. Its strange, I thought I was the only one! I hate it more than anything. I mean, its not that bad and I know I'll feel better afterwards but I try to lay perfectly still and let it pass. ugggh...and the aftertaste.....(shudder.)

I am scared of snakes and spiders i used to be afraid of heights but my love for coasters made me lose my fear

11-26-2001, 09:01 PM
My biggest fear is of mollusks(sp?). I know it is a very strange thing to be scared of but I just am. I'm also afraid of Sea Anenomies and certian types of worms (not earthworms though). I love to look at pictures of them and read about them and stuff, but I wouldn't touch one if my life depended on it. I'm also scared of insecure hieghts like on a bridge I'm scared that the car will blow a tire and go falling off, but I wasn't scared at the top of Power Tower. I think I'm just a freak

11-26-2001, 11:04 PM
I have a fear of elevators. Not all of them, just the ones like in the Sears tower. You know, the ones that go really high up. I am always afraid that the cable will snap and the elevator will crash. I also don't like height that much. I am also scared of being up in high places where im not really secure. I rode Millennium Force though and that didn't bother me one bit.

11-27-2001, 10:28 AM
I hate being upside down in small places. Kind of claustaphobia but not small areas standing. For example your bed is by the wall but there is some space in between I hate falling back upside down. I have a feeling I am going to suffacate or somethn be like that. When I was small I used to be afraid of Search lights that go in the air. The firdt time was at Sea World. I thought it was some kind of weather fanamanom(?) that I had to take shelter like if there was a tornado. Even though this hasn't happen it would scare the H**l outta me if I was on open big place and the tornado sirens went off.
Lets see something else?........................
Oh yeah I hate in houses at night that have too many doorways in one room. And I have a feeling something is goin to come through those doorways behind side and in front of me.I have more things but I will post it later cause I can't think of any right now!:=

Spiders, just can't stand them. Also, really any somewhat complex looking bug I can't stand, I won't go near them.

11-28-2001, 07:44 PM
spiders (pretty bad phobia, but could be worse) and farris wheels.

11-28-2001, 10:37 PM
(SFMMophobia) The basic fear or idea of Six Flags Magic Mountain beating Cedar Point for coaster record scares me crapless!

seriuosly, I am iffy on heights, i dont like to just look over the edge of a mountain or what have you, but at the same time I would LOVE to skydive/basejump and I LOVE roller coasters and freefall rides! kinda weird huh?

11-29-2001, 08:52 AM
I can get claustrophobic once in a while - especially stuck on a crowded train stuck in a tunnel.

Irrational fears? . . .

Having my overcoat caught on a taxi bumper and being dragged for blocks.

Walking around with my pants zipper open.

Scraping my teeth on a cement curb.

Having "something" hanging from my nose.

11-29-2001, 10:53 AM

Also blood... EEEK

I have a mild fear of driving, but I mostly conquered that over winter break when I went home. I don't know what it was, but I just started driving. I haven't driven before that in a couple months and it started making me nervous thinking about getting behind the wheel again. I still get a bit nervous when I think about driving, but that's driving here in Tucson. My uncle wants to take me out driving some time, but I don't know. He sort of has a temper and I might freak out if I start driving. I know eventually I'll have to drive because if I don't, there go my hopes of anything in the future. I'd like to drive to work and drive my wife around and stuff. It's sorta funny. My girlfriend doesn't like driving, either, and I would like to learn to drive and be more comfortable driving just in case we were to end up getting married. It would be pretty pathetic if neither of us drove. Marriage is the last thing on my mind right now, though.

Bees and wasps. I didn't used to be afraid of them. At one point, me and my brother would stand around a puddle waiting for wasps to land in it, then we would smash em with sticks. :D Oh, to be a little kid again.

Anyway, a few years ago a bunch of bees decided to build a hive under our front shed. We didn't know this until they began attacking. We decided to try and get rid of em ourselves. Our first attempt was to drown them out: we took a hose and flooded the area where the hive was. This only made them mad. I was the one holding the hose, so I was stung the most: five times. We eventually got a powerfull poison that killed them. After a while our shed was moved and a two-foot square hive was removed.

After all this I was still ok with bees and wasps. Then a bunch of wasps decided to build a hive in our outdoor study. I was unfortunately the first person to use this study after they moved in. I thought bee stings hurt. Ha! They were nothing compared to being stung by a wasp! Oh my God! Pain beyond reason! A wasp flew in when I opened the door and decided to sting my arm. Of course my immeadiate reaction was kill, which I did: I smashed it with my bare hand. My second reaction: RUN. Run as fast as you can, as far as you can. Which I did, with a dozen wasps following me. I refused to go back into the study until the hive had been destroyed.

Since then I have been scared to death of bees and wasps.

Lets see . . .

Getting my trenchcoat caught on the bumper of a cab and being dragged for miles.

Accidentally chewing aluminum foil.

Walking around with my fly wide open.

Being sucked under by a tidal wave.

Anything that hangs like ferris wheels, skyhawks, ski lifts.

03-05-2002, 04:10 PM
I have fear of fear itself aka phobaphobia.

03-05-2002, 04:23 PM
Unstable structures... no, coasters don't count. (Coasters are very stable, in my opinion...)

Unstable structures are things like bridges, shaky ladders, floors that aren't supported, balconies in skyscrapers, and those towers that are really thin at the bottom and have stuff at the top (like the Stratosphere Tower and the CN tower...)

Sometimes floors shake for no reason...

03-06-2002, 03:28 PM
I have a phobia of (this sounds so bad!) rocky cliff tops. I can't stand them.....I went to Zakynthos (on of the Greek islands) last year and we went up to this HUGE cliff and my parents wanted to have a picture taken of us standing on this cliff edge whcih has a path RIGHT at the edge...but I couldnt! I had to turn away and walk back, it's also the fear of someone I love tripping on a stone and falling.....I think I think way too much....not you're average 16 year old ;) *tries to act like he's NOT one of those dumb teenagers*

03-07-2002, 07:29 PM
Heights get to me too, but its kind of weird that i still seek it out. THat why i somehow like coasters. It's weird.

farris wheels.

03-07-2002, 09:28 PM
I have a fear of off seasons :(

03-07-2002, 10:23 PM
Ive posted already but Im adding..

Spider is my MAJOR phobe. I CANT STAND them!

But also BLOOD! Blood just freaks me out I don't know why! Hospitals, surgery.. eek! I can't watch those channels that have surgery on them.. ugh if I ever saw someone losing a ton of blood, id probably go into shock or something lol

And last.. drowning, slightly.. I almost did when I was younger I dunno if thats why, but i have a fear of being trapped underwater.. kinda hard to be trapped underwater but you know..

03-08-2002, 02:58 PM
I've always had a fear of falling. Not exactly a fear of heights -- doesn't matter how high up I am. If I'm on the very edge of a mountainside, it doesn't bother me as long as the ground I'm on is sturdy. (For example, I actually sat on a rock on the edge of a waterfall once -- gorgeous view, just wish I had a camera -- and didn't bother me a bit. Scared the heck out of my mom, though!) Same thing goes for coasters, observation towers, etc. -- as long as I'm relatively secure, there's no problem. But if I'm standing up on an old chair or table or something that's really wobbly (like changing a light bulb or getting something out of the top of the closet) it freaks me out. Doesn't matter that I'm a few feet from the ground.

Weird, huh?

I'm scared of heights if I'm not really strapped into anything. Like if I was on the top of a 5 story building w/ just a rail I'd get a little scared, but if I'm on mf w/ a seat belt and lap bar on I'm fine.

03-09-2002, 05:39 PM
Heights (when I'm not strapped in to something!), spiders, death, airplanes, everything lol.

I am not scared of anything except SPIDERS. The thought of spiders makes me start screamin'. People laugh at me when I'm to scared of a little house spider that I can't even step on the sucka'. Oh well I guess everyone has their weakness. And mine has to be spiders.

03-11-2002, 06:47 PM
The thing Im most scared of is CREEPY insects...know whta I mean? Like an ant or firefly doesnt bother me, but those big freakin beeltes or hissing cockroaches you see on the discovery channell out in the Amazon...oooh...they make my skin crawl. Walking sticks are scary, but the worst are praying mantises. AAAAAHHH! I HATE THOSE THINGS!

Funny, spiders don't bother me at all. Im a freak.

03-13-2002, 09:49 AM
I hate spiders, and going in a boat. If I knew how to swim better than I wouldnt be scared.

I don't like looking at wounded people or operations on eyes when they are on the tv. I also had a huge wave drag me underwater whilst I was in the sea during a sudden freak storm in Thailand. That was really scary as it just pulled me along and I couldn't surface. I don't really have a phobia as such but I tend to stay away from stormy water now.

03-13-2002, 09:04 PM
My weakness is, without a doubt, spiders. i can't stand em, even if they are tiny. but hey, no one is perfect. everyone fears something stupid.

Most irrational fear: Spiders (although I'm getting better, I can handle the smaller ones now.

Free fall. I can handle coasters, MF was no problem. I even did Ripcord at CP, but never will again. Same with Power Tower on the drop side. Did it once and thought I was going to pass out hyperventilating...and that was BEFORE we even dropped! I am going to try again this summer.

And the biggest fear: Something happening to my son.

Yah, I have been on Mantis at CP. But it took a while to walk under that sign at the entrance! LOL

:D I could just imagine all your fears pouring out while standing there looking at the logo :D

I don't know why all of you guys are afraid of spiders. I've had 3 pet tarantulas in the past (all three being Chilean Rose-Haired Tarantulas, they take up my whole palm) and I"ve had two Emperor Scorpions as well (world's largest scorpions that grow up to 7 inches in length). And yes, I've actually held them in my hands. They sit really still (not the scorpions though) and don't move a leg unless you move suddenly. I'm not scared of snakes or lizards either, I've had those as pets too. The one thing that scares the ***** out of me are those giant black bumble bees that are the size of hummingbirds and any insect that I have not seen before in my life that resemble some kind of alien.

I have fears of snakes, spiders, and vomiting (kinda ironic to be a coaster enthusisast, I just can't stand seeing or smelling it!).

I was once stuck on an elevator for three hours, but for some reason, I like them!

I have a fear of ticks. Not necessarily a phobia, but a extreme dislike. I can't stand them, I am also a germophobic. Although I'm not an extreme germophobic. I don't drink after anyone, I wipe every bathroom counter before I touch it, especially if it is wet, and if someone near me is sick, I carry around a Lysol can.
