Anyone else like this band? Their song "Float on" is like the best. I love it. The music video is so funny. The sheep crack me up.

I know they have been around a long time. I heard them like last week and just started listening to their music.

Franz Ferdinand is awesome. Their song "Take Me Out" is on The Madden 2005 soundtrack, so that is what got me into them. I downloaded their song last week. Have yall seen the "Float On" video? It is so funny.

Correct. Props to Bimmer and anyone else who actually listened to them prior to MTV videoization and popularity, and likes songs other than "Float On"

sfft, way to hop on the popular music bandwagon. lol modest mouse is gr8, there video is lol. franz ferdinands song take me out is popular so i like them 2 lol.

Seriously, there is much more to Modest Mouse than "Float On" (I've heard it, I don't like it, but come on, listen to other things), and "Take Me Out" is definately very different that many other Franz Ferdinand songs. Really, get past the pop culture and actually listen to some music.

I listen to a lot of music. Those two songs are just some that i am currently listening to and I like the most at this time.

Thank you sir. "Float On," though I think it's a great song (especially the lyrics), Good News for People Who Love Bad News isn't MM's best work. I first heard about them last fall, from a friend who burned me The Lonesome Crowded West, and though strange, I liked it. Then this spring, I started hearing one of their songs on a commercial so I was all baffled and stuff.

So basically you like "Float On," not Modest Mouse. You should check out some of the songs off The Moon and Antarctica (aren't their album names just great?), then base your opinion of them off their other stuff. If you IM me, I'll send you a few songs. AIM SN = Elise pwns j00

BTW, "Float On" and "Take Me Out" are half the same song. They both have the same drum riff and the Telecaster guitar riff. Very similar... no surprise that you like both.

Float On is getting ruined or is ruined by MTV etc. Modest Mouse is a good attempt to shake things up in terms of new music, but unfortunatley doesn't completley prevail. They are better than nearly anything else I hear on the radio however, so they get credit for something.

On a recomendation from an acquintance I picked up "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" back when it was released and I absolutely fell in love with the group. Since then I've gotten my grubby paws on all of their CDs and have found their way into my #1 band spot, something no one besides Green Day(almost single-handidly because of Dookie) has held since 1993...

Then a couple months later I saw the Float On video on VH1(I never listen to the radio because...well 99% of mainstream music is total ass anymore) and it appears they're getting some name recognition, finally. I'm still not sure how these guys slipped by me for so long.

My favorite song is Talking **** About A Pretty Sunset...great lyrics.

Seriously, one of the greatest indie rock bands of all time tries it's hand at mainstream. As many on here have said, Float On is not Modest Mouse. The Moon and Antarctica is one of the greatest albums of all time in my opinion, and it didn't rely on catchy simplistic riffs and lyrics like Float On. Lonesome Crowded West and This Is a Long Drive For Someone with Nothing to Think About and Sad Sappy Sucker were also very good. But sadly, the Modest Mouse we used to know and love is dead.

Modest Mouse is great. Their older stuff i find more enjoyable, but i still like them. They were good at Austin City Limits a couple weeks ago.

I got Good News For People Who Like Bad News and The Moon and Antarctica this weekend. I like a few of the songs. My favorite song right now is Gravity Rides Everything. I know I have heard this song somewhere before. Maybe on a commerical. I know I haven't heard it on a cd or on the radio. Does any one know where this was heard before. Or maybe I am just thinking I heard it some where.

Well as of right now, I have almost every MM cd, except 1 or 2 EP's.

I first found out about MM from Float On, but i got interested in them and got all their old stuff. Sad Sappy Sucker is a really great album.

I really like Building Nothing Out Of Something and This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About.

Paper Thin Walls, Interstate 8 and Dance Hall are at the top of my list. Tho I listen to every song on the cds.

Yah, defiantly check them out. Start out with Lonesome Crowded West or Building Nothing Out of Something. The Moon & Antarctica [Bonus Tracks] is also a good one to start with.

I first started out with GNFPWLBN and The Moon & Antarctica.

I got some news....

According to The Rolling Stone

Johnny Marr of the Smiths, is now a full time member of the band. Modest Mouse is state to release their new cd "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" tentatively titled this fall. This is freaking sweet news. I have been waiting for a new CD for a while. I haven't heard any of the Smiths songs, but I heard Marr is good guitarist.
