View Full Version : Hello All From former East Coast Ride Operator
11-22-2004, 08:09 AM
First I want to say thanks for the warm welcome from Hecter. I am a yankee having lived in CT most of my life til the last 8 years in Ohio. I have been an operator at Lake Compounce and Six Flags NE which sorry I still choke on when saying it will always be (Riverside Park) to me. I moved out this way from a job transfer in the other work part of my life. I worked 2 seasons at PKI it all added up to about 12 seasons. I have now taken a break for a few years. I however can not stop thinking or talking about what I love best. Rides I am glad to have found this site.

Welcome to TN Sandy! Hope you have fun posting here. Some of us can get a little carried away at times, so don't take "everything" you read too serious.

Welcome Sandy. There are other former ride ops here.
Which rides did you operate at the parks that you worked?

Hi ThunderDan, I worked at Compounce back in 89-92 I worked mostly the kiddies but I did the flume and carrousel too. When I was at sfne I again did mostly kiddies but I often worked the Monorail and Lost River when they still had these. I worked on the "center" team I worked 93-96 and came to Ohio for my regular job and also worked at PKI two seasons one in merchandise and one in rides the first year they did not have any spots open in rides. I was a little late applying. At PKI I was back in good old kiddieland my choice. I did a few kiddies and Ghoster Coaster.

Hi Leeloo nice to meet another female who is a baby boomer like me. We could relate to things these guys were not even born yet to know and I am sure they can teach us a few things as well LOL

Great meeting someone who is a former park employee. We do have a park employees group... you can join it through the group memberships control panel on our site (current and past employees only).
The best thing is that when I worked at Michigan's Adventure and Cedar Point, I found the "boomers" had a lot of insight into things, and I learned a lot from them about working at a park. Feel free to share those experiences with us in the Park employees forum.
Otherwise, welcome to TN, and if you have any questions/comments/complaints, let us know.
