I cannot play RTC LL Exp on my New comp

I have a new comp with Win XP Pro. My husband has the same OS. MY RTC with CF/LL works on his comp, but on mine, when I try to play, it says:
Error Trapper
Exception Raised - Access Violation
Error Location - Windows Unknown Driver

I unsinstalled and put on just the original RTC and it works, but as soon as I load the expansions (they are on the same disk), I cannot play. Also, I cannot load the patch (US English). It tells me:
Unrecognized version, wrong language, or game files are corrupted.

Does anyone know what I can do?

Did you try to install the Windows 2000 patch? Also, it may be beneficial to try to run it either in Windows 98/ME or Windows 2000 mode.

If that fails, make sure you update DirectX and possibly your video drivers.

It is a brand new comp, so I just downloaded the lastest version of DX9 and got the latest drivers for my NVIDIA card.

As for running it in a different mode, I don't know how to do that.

Also, I uninstalled, installed only the original, and it let me patch, but when I added expansion, again, I get the error and cannot play.

*** Researched, figured out how to use the compatability mode, set it back to 98/ME and it worked in 256 color mode. Thanks so much.***
