A Blue Springs woman was taken to a hospital emergency room early today after a cell phone became lodged in her throat.
The woman was in an argument with a boyfriend when the incident occurred, said Sgt. Steve Decker of the Blue Springs Police Department.
Decker said police were told that the woman tried to swallow the telephone because she didn't want the boyfriend to have it. However the case is under investigation.
Police responded to a call about a non-breathing person about 4:50 a.m. in the 3000 block of Southwest U.S. 40, Decker said. Police arrived and found that the 24-year-old woman was having trouble breathing. Her identity was not released.
The woman was taken to the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs. She still had the telephone in her throat upon arrival at the hospital, Decker said.
A condition report was not available.

What idiot would try to eat their cellphone. If she didn't want her boyfriend to have it, she should have just kicked him in the balls and ran until she could hide it.

It's sad and its unfortunate. Some people are rude enough with phones though that they deserve to be there.

Why wouldn't you just throw it on the ground or something? What an idiot.

Mmmm...cell phone....

There are a million ways you can completely destroy a cell phone, why in the world would she try to eat it?

You know this boyfriend is upset about this. He might lose a great girlfriend. She has no gag reflex apparently and she's also more than willing to swallow. That's a keeper.

I'm sorry, that was uncalled for.

So what is the perfect condiment for a cell phone mayo or ketchup? sorry I had to. Seriously this does not surprise me at all people these days do the dumbest stuff. (p.s. I would'nt want to get into an "I can eat that" competiton with her :-D )

You're a very bad man :)

I've often wanted to shove people's cell phones down their throats. Funny that one would do the job themself.

I think it's Ebaumsworld. I saw another story about a little boy who swallowed two magnets, toys that his older brother didn't put away, and they went into his intestines, one at the top one at the bottom, pulled towards each other, and ripped the kids insides, killing him. The parents said they new it was a choking hazard, but not an intestinal hazard. I wish they never had kids in the first place.

Has she never heard of taking the battery out or just throwing it on the ground?

No... let me swallow it and choke on the stupid thing.
