I would have to say Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood, and the former Hercules at Dorney.

Both Phantom's Revenge and Hercules are unique in the kind of ride they give/gave. The terrain makes them both very unique.

Especially Phantom's Revenge. Seriously, how many terrain hypers are there, or how many hypers don't have their biggest drop right after the lift, or how many hypers are not out and back, Phantom's Revenge is so unique.

Hercules was not as unique as Phantom's Revenge, but it was very unique nonetheless. It's terrain made it really good and unique.

Well, AC is a terrain hyper.....

and Goliaths second drop will be bigger, as is Manhattan Express in Las Vegas'.

Especially Phantom's Revenge. Seriously, how many terrain hypers are there, or how many hypers don't have their biggest drop right after the lift, or how many hypers are not out and back, Phantom's Revenge is so unique.

Terrain Hypers:
*Apollo's Chariot
*Bandit (it's close enough to being a hyper, just 4 ft short)
*Phantom's Revenge

And if you want to stretch that definition of terrain:
*Raging Bull for the trench and tunnel
*S:ROS SFNE for the drop down the side of land and that turn really close to the high up spot
*Thunder Dolphin if you pretend the giant building it is ontop is a mountain or something counts

Hypers that are not out and back:
*Phantom's Revenge
*Bandit
*Thunder Dolphin
*Raging Bull
*Titan
*Goliath (SFMM)
*Son Of Beast
*Pepsi Max Big One
*Millennium Force

As for most unique coaster?

Especially since the coaster has been two totally different rides altogather. Its odd you see a coaster one year and the same coaster totally different the next.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but:

*Colossus at SFMM
*Turn Of the Century at SFGAm and PGA

Both were heavily modified profile wise.

5, not two.

It looks like only 2 are operating though. The "train" kinda reminds me of that home made coaster. "Blue Flash" right? I'd say that one is pretty unique too.

5, not two.
Right.. and of the the 5 how many can someone go off and ride?

The most unique coaster I have been on is the Mindbender, the drop under the path has insanely short clearance, and the loop around the pathway is cool to. I absolutely love the helix around the octogonal mirror thing that holds up the UFO maze, you think your going to hit it, then you pass it and the mirrored coaster is going right at you, it is a truely unique expierence.

epijlh

I think the most unique coaster is Thunderbolt at Kennywood. I don't know of many other wooden coasters that have 2 nice-sized drops (http://www.coaster-net.com/pics/kennywood/thunderbolt4_blastcoaster.jpg)before the lift. Plus, after the lift, it goes around a loop-type circuit (http://www.coaster-net.com/pics/kennywood/thunderbolt1_blastcoaster.jpg)that encloses the queue and small sitting area. I aslo like the intense g forces after the third and fifth drops. Here are some cool pictures of it. 1 (http://www.rcdb.com/ig122.htm?picture=1) 2 (http://www.rcdb.com/ig122.htm?picture=6) 3 (http://www.coaster-net.com/pics/kennywood/thunderbolt10_blastcoaster.jpg) 4 (http://www.coaster-net.com/pics/kennywood/thunderbolt3_blastcoaster.jpg) 5 (http://www.gregleg.com/coastershrine/viewImage.php?imagePath=Kennywood/images/KennyKon_2001/7_15_01-Thunderbolt-1.jpg)(as seen from the pitfall)

I would have to say any coaster at Kennywood. They are all so unique.

Chris L

X, because there is no roller coaster in existence that shares the same track type, same ride experience, same vehicles, or same riding concept. Find me another roller coaster in the world that (1) has riders riding 10 feet off the outside of the rails (2) turns riders upside down on a separate axis independant of the moving train (3) has extended sections of both suspended track and upright track.

The Beast is just a much longer version of a terrain woodie. Been there done that. Mindbender? Not unique, sorry. I don't even have to explain why on that one. Batman & Robin The Chiller? So it's two non-unique simple LIM launched coasters built side-by-side. Big deal. Hercules? Ridiculous somebody would name that in this thread. It's not special. All it is, is a wooden coaster with a never before done layout. So are another 100 woodies. Hydra? So what? It's like the 12th Floorless coaster in the world, but with a pre-lift inversion. Again, doesn't make it stand out as unique. Phantom's Revenge? Probably the more different and stand-out one out of the ones I've listed in this paragraph, but how many terrain coasters do we have in operation right now? Plenty. How many coasters do we have in operation right now that had a major reprofiling? Plenty. That leaves nothing on Phantom's Revenge in being unique.

I Think the most unique coaster is Volcano the blast Coaster.

Worm
01-13-2006, 02:13 AM
^ i've heard they say that Volcano th blast coaster is INCREDIBLY smooth. intamin advertises it as 'butter-smooth'. is this true? can it really be THAT smooth?

matteocrepaldi
01-13-2006, 11:17 AM
The one I have ridden:
Son of Beast at;
Sequoia Adventure at Gardaland;
Millennium Force;

The one I'd love to ride:
X
Superman The Escape at SFMM

matteocrepaldi

...I forgot Sheikra in the one I'd love to ride.

X
Phantom's Revenge, and I say that because unless you have ridden it, you cannot comprehend how insane it truly is. It is super smooth, and the bunny hills are just completely wacked out! There is NOTHING like it, and as far as being a terrain coaster goes, it uses the terrain more than most terrain rides, and passes through Thunderbolt twice, so yes, it is very unique.
The pipline coasters look fun too. How often do you sit in a plastic sled on a coaster?
Euro-Mir looks amazing, and so does the Poseidon water coaster. In fact, nearly all the coasters at Europa look unique and amazing. Is it just me, or does Mack totally kick @$$??
A lot of the Intamin rides I feel are unique, and feature elements that are very rare, or are one of a kind, like on Storm Runner, and Speed Monster.
Premier's Mr. Freeze coasters, and B&R:Chiller are pretty unique
I'd say Viper at SFGAdv WAS unique, (may it rest in pieces).
Shockwave and Georgia Mindbender are unique,
Zonga, aka Texas Tornado, AKA Thriller is/was unique
Olympia Looping, and Eurostar (AKA Piece of crap banging crap face coaster)
Flashback AKA Z-Force
Beast, and Sonny
to name a few.

JordanMullins
01-13-2006, 08:44 PM
I still feel Mindbender is one of the most unique, the third loop (the one that goes around the path) has crazy clearance and each turn and piece of track has headchoppers except the first drop and station. It is also very smooth.

Millenium force looks kick ass.

Out of all the coasters I've ridden, I think X deserves this one. There really is nothing else that comes anywhere close to the experience it delivers.

Leo C
01-13-2006, 11:52 PM
Tower of Terror at Gold reef city
and Euro mir at Europa Park
Just looking at the pics I could tell it's as unique as it gets. I think a girlfriend of mine rode that coaster.

The Mindbender the boss from Alberta was speaking of I believe is the one in the Edmonton Mall. A loop does goes through a walkway. To have that puppy indoors, Oh man.

I was really excited to ride the Riddler's Revenge. It's as elaborate as a standup gets.

ALL OF THE BOOMERANGS! lol. Definitely no. But I really think Euro Mir is about the most unique coaster around.

Bencerisback
01-17-2006, 06:02 PM
I think Euro-mir looks insanely BORING, but it is unique.

DD pretty unique if you count it as one coaster.
X
Flashback at SFMM, if there are other coasters just like this correct me
PowderKeg, Fire in the Hole, Thunderation are all unique, and Wildifire is pretty unique

BryanWood
01-17-2006, 07:17 PM
and the former Hercules at Dorney.

Not really. Other crappy Dinn coasters include:

Mean Streak
Predator
Raging Wolf Bobs

Hercules had a unique layout due to the terrain, but far from being a completely unique roller coaster.

dale15dog
01-25-2006, 08:03 PM
All of theese ar at SFMM...
X
Superman: The Escape
Flashback
Batman: The Ride and Psyclone (just kidding ;) )

Oh, and I have to add this one:
Cobra! (http://rcdb.com/id1988.htm)

I think that X is really weird. It breaks all the rules for a traditional coaster but I hear mostly good things from it.

tommyistommy
01-25-2006, 10:06 PM
Storm runner is the most unique roller coaster I ever rode. Its inversions are so twisted and weird, and just the concept of a launch coaster with inversions is awesome. The whole ride is totally disorenting

Matt M
01-25-2006, 10:27 PM
Not to be rude or anything, but EVERYTHING on that ride has been done before. I don't see what's so unique about it.

Zingoman
01-25-2006, 11:23 PM

or this...
http://rcdb.com/ig2498.htm?picture=12

granted they call the second one an Immelman, but it is not your typical track profile for that element. The Flying Snake Dive is definitly one of a kind, and I'm pretty sure that is the only Top-Hat element to exit out the side rather than back towards the way it entered.

Griswold

I thought The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain at Indiana Beach was pretty fun and unique.

This topic is called "Most unique coaster." Compared to other cited examples, such as X, Storm Runner would not really stack up, now would it? It was the third hydraulically launched coaster in the world. But with some inversions. Albeit some weird looking inversions. But that doesn't make Storm Runner the most unique.

http://www.themeparkdenmark.dk/Graphics/4dcoaster18012006-06.jpg The next coaster for Fuji Q... Its definitely S&S, but what kind of coaster is it? A next generation X? Maybe...
Anyway, X, as of now, is the most unique I have not been on. X-flight could be the most unique one I have been on.

I got into a coaster-related argument with my friend, so I will ask you our problem: Which of the following two coasters are more reconizable? I know that this sort of has nothing to do with this subject, but our argument was over which one was easier to reconize do to its uniqueness.

BGWfanatic

well i recognized both right away. but id go with number one because of how theres the two hills and then it dissapears from site. and not #2 because theres alot of inverts that look similar

Three I will vote for:

X - I rode it ten times. I still cannot tell you how the track goes! It actually has two separate tracks!
Volcano - Full circuit inverted launcher. It launches twice.
Son Of Beast - Wooden hyper with a loop. I still love this ride!
