Here are my *super cool* favorite movies. I'll try to be as NON-mainstream as possible.
<BR>1-clerks-very funny movie by one of the best writers/directors ever(silent bob) as long as you can get by the whole black and white thing.
<BR>2-Swingers-another very funny movie, this one staring Mikey and Doubl-Down.
<BR>3-The Virgin Suicides- I thought this was a very unique movie especially sence it was told from the point of view of the guys across the street that were obsessed with them. and also you cant beat that ending.
<BR>4-dogma-A pretty popular movie which cause a christian ban on disney(they own pixar) so you gotta give them points for makingh a comedy which says that it is a joke in the begining and also turns out to give a more modern and positive look at the catholic religion that offended SO MANY people. It's also written and directed by silent bob.
<BR>5-Fight Club/American beauty- tie. 'nough said.
<BR>"I dont like bannas, too much potassium" -my friend jeff
<BR>and what they say of the grass on the other sides true,
<BR>too much time looking up's turning everything blue,
<BR>including me,
<BR>including you,

im sorry, but it doesnt seem like me and you are gonna get along much:) again, YOU SHOUDENT TELL PEOPLE WHAT TO LIKE. just look at your list, contact, that movie sucked. you already know that shes gonna make it to outer space and it takes her 2 HOURS TO GET THERE. you wait all movie to see the alien and its her god damned father.

05-08-2001, 09:08 PM
that was in response to halations moronic ramblings.

05-09-2001, 01:50 PM
I'm not telling anyone what to like. I'm just giving my opinion. If I think something stinkss, I WILL SAY SO, it IS my right. If you disagree with me, FINE. If I bother you ,IGNORE ME!!
<BR>By, the way, I think Contact was an awesome movie. What, is your attention span so fried that you can't sit through something that doesn't have explosions or slaptick, or "witty" dialoge (as in Swingers or Clerks)? Contact was an amazing story and movie. The alien was NOT her father, like the Vegan in the FORM of her father said, "its to make it easier for you". Instead of the stereotypical green ,slimy, bug-eyed alien, they did something original. This movie was a very good, moving, insprirational drama with fantastic special effects ( as icing on the cake). If you didn't like it, that's your loss. I thought Clerks was stupid, I couldn't even watch it. There was no subtlety to it. Same with Dogma, which I "liked", by the way. They hit you over the head with his "point". Yes religion is "bad". He was preaching to the converted. Fine I'm glad he figured it out.
<BR>The movie was a convoluted, funny, mess. I did also LOVE American Beauty. Ithought of putting that, but the others beat it out in my opinion, that's just me.
<BR>I believe I have every right to provoke a discussion about what people think is a good art form. I may not be tactful always, but whatever. If i want to say "The Rock was one of your top five movies?? are you nuts?", I will. Like I said before if you disagree with me, fine. If you want to dicuss, good. If it REALLY bothers you so much, IGNORE IT!

05-09-2001, 02:06 PM
It doesnt bother me so much. I was just trying to have a discssion(i find those types of things fun). but you still shouldent yell at people for thier opinions, they way you talked about clerks and dogma is fine, you gave some reasons why you didnt like them, and im different, i like that kind of humor, but i know the alien wasnt actually her father, and i kinda liked contact, but its not my number two favorite of all time. i guess we just have different tastes in movies, the ones with stupid humor, but enogh "big words" to make you think about some of the jokes. i also love the characters of jay and silent bob.

05-09-2001, 05:33 PM
what has movies got to do with coasters

05-09-2001, 06:03 PM
I like Halations movies the best on the list. My favs are:
<BR>1. Dr. Strangelove
<BR>2. Spinal Tap
<BR>3. Polyester

05-09-2001, 09:14 PM
<BR>THIS IS GENERAL TALK. Not every topic has to be about coasters.

05-09-2001, 11:13 PM
Catherine, I love Spinal Tap and Polyester. I have never seen Dr. Strangelove. That's Stanley Kubrick, right? He made 2001: A Space Odessey and The Shining which I really liked. Spinal Tap was THE classic rock parody. I think a lot of people thought it was serious. Probably big haired, stuck in the eighties people... It's good to know of other people with good taste.

Yeah, I have to agree that this is one of the premier "coaster inclusive" movies of all time. That entire movie is just plain outright hilarious, especially the part with the cop and the dog. God bless Chevy Chase.
