What's your favorite dark coaster and were is it at? Mine is the one at Phantasialand in Germany because the ride is so smooth that you could even sleep.

Exterminator...the hills when the mouse is spinning are great. It feels like you're out of control.

Batman at night! LoL. Does that count. If it doesn't then mine is space mountain because thats the only one I've rode like it I think.

So far, I would have to say that I liked Rock n' Roller coaster best, followed closely by Space Mountain. However, FoF might change my mind this year...

Exterminator.
Kennywood needs to do a little publicizing for this thing. Many people go to the park and not even know it is there.

the Rock N Roller Coaster is cool but the Exterminator gets my vote, that coaster is extremely underrated.

FOF at PKD, ever since they've added the lap bars its been so much better.
Good point...at least they painted the building now so it looks nice. When it was just cinder blocks, people probably didn't think it was a coaster. Just probably thought it was a storage building.

if I didn't pay attention to evey move Kennywood made I deffinetly would not have known the Exterminator was a coaster...they building looks like a ride now but before it looked, just like how RaleaghPensFan said like a storage building.

Rocken Rollercoaster is by far the best indoor coaster that I have been on. The theam is great. You enter a record company's (g-force records) recording studio. On your tour, you see Areosmith recording. After they talk awile they ask if you want to go to one of their concerts, and they send a limo for you. you get on the "limo" they music starts to blast in your ear(its not that loud). Then the launch into the dark with black lights. The ride is hard to explain. It seems to go on for ever and you can't see where you are going. Its geat. Way better than FoF and Space Mountain.

Exterminator, in its first season. After they added more lighting it just wasn't as fun, not that it is bad now

Flight Of Fear at PKD because that is the only dark ride ive been on.
Space Mountain in Paris is amazing. The Black Hole at Alton Towers used to be really great but that was before dark-coaster inversions. IMHO The Black Hole should be ripped out again and re-fitted like rock-n-roller or space mountain. It doesn't have to have the powered launch but they should really do something to it.

I have been on Flight of Fear at Paramounts Kings Dominion with the lapbars, as well as Rocking Roller Coaster and Space Mountain. Flight Of Fear is way better than the other two combined!

I'm another fan of Kennywood's Exterminator. It's a unique ride with some really good theming. There are really nice laterals and some good quick drops. The spinning in complete darkness is really good too.

I like the Outer Limits Flight of Fear, now just Flight of Fear at Paramounts Kings Island, in Ohio. It's themed to the rumored "hanger 18" in Dayton, Ohio that suposedly has a UFO in it. Now that they have taken away the shoulder harnesses, and replaced them with lap bars, the ride is the neatest sensation. After you climb the rap in to the UFO, and seat yourself in the "shuttle" you are launced into near total darkness with no breaks. You can't tell which direction you are going. The themeing is so different. If you haven't been there try it sometime.

Space Mountain is really good, i was really young when i rode it so the special effects seemed pretty realistic to me. But Beast at night is the best; its dark, its beyond a ride, and there is no other ride out there like it.

Marcus
11-04-2001, 03:53 PM
Disaster Transport.Nothing can compare. Its beyond any comprehendion. Beyond the beyond of the beyond. The chain lift is unlike anything ever imagined and leaves the rides dazed and confused as they go through the ride. And the drop in the dark is decieveing giving the feeling of a bar in the dark ready to hit your head. And then the themeing could not have been made by man bcause it defyes and thing imaginable and utterly destorys outside to the ful extent. And the restraits are never chcked and i can easly stand up throughout the ride. And you can through a bouncy ball in front of it an it will roll through the entir ride and the line has slow moving chicken changes that resemble death. And the station has black lights and its just like describing X but triple. XXX +MF - Mean Streak + DEATH.

The FOF at PKD, the lap bars make it a great coaster

Space Mountain will always be the classic (ever notice how silent the trains are?). I liked Outer Limits at PKD.

But the best is definitely Exterminator. The spinning cars are excellent - but go at night to ensure that there is no daylight seepage.

Rock n Rollercoaster doesn't have any of those inversion types pictured, or asteroid scenes. Its definately SM at DLP, which would be better than RnRc if it had a better launch, but it doesn't, so its not better IMO.

I thought it was space mt. Just with teh track types, it looks similar...

i preferred sm, Rnr has a better launch but has a boring layout. Those pics are the pacer lift (i think), the cutback/tounge and the sidewinder (like on anaconda)

The track type is similar because both Rock n Rollercoaster and Space Mountain Paris were built by Vekoma. Its definately Space Mountain Paris, though, because Rock n Rollercoaster doesn't feature a dive loop as seen in the last picture.

Not my pics btw.....probably not that great with the lights on..it's VERY compact, lots of supports, quite long but not that fast. It FEELS fast in the dark but it's top speed is 44mph only.
