View Full Version : Do you think CPs next coaster will be a ThrustAir?

I have heard ors from ride-ops at
CP that CP will be adding a 250 TA2K
ON Lake Erie? what did you hear?

I doubt that. Cedar Point is over due for an upside down coaster
A rollercoaster that goes upside down

My question is, with the fact they have the Power Tower which shoots you up almost 300 feet, why would they want an air propelled thrust coaster when they have other expansion plans in effect for the coming next couple of years...But I am with the other poster, I think they are going to be getting another Itamin coaster or a B and M floorless in the next couple of years. And the years I have been going, I have never heard them speak to highly of LIM type coasters..

05-09-2001, 04:22 PM
IMO, Thrust Air in 2002, 375ft, 0-115 in 4.2sec, 18 passenger trains, ride lenght- 2:15, one launch 2 other vertical hills at 210 and 164ft. I wouldn't be suprised to see some sort of loop or something in it.

Whatever CPs next coaster is it will hardly compare to millenium force

i wouldn't say that, if what IOA rules says comes true, MF will be know as that "gentle coaster" i mean hypersonic is insane enough, BUT THAT!?!?!?!?

havent been there yet,but will be going soon.looks to me like they should get another looping coaster(whatever type it may be)because of all their coasters, only 3 go upside down.dont think im bashing cp though, i am really fired up to go, and i hope its as great as everyone says!!

06-04-2001, 12:48 AM
Seeing what C.P.'s done in the past decade or so (Magnum, MF, Raptor, Mean Streak...), I'd say a TA2K is entirely possible. But where would they put it?

06-04-2001, 01:24 AM
I don't think Cedar Point will bother with getting a TA2K for at least a few more years as technologies in that type of coaster advance further. They need another good wooden coaster, and they can place it to the right of the main entrance, in front of Disastor Transport. To me that's an ideal spot for a wooden twister and would make a great addition to the park.

06-04-2001, 07:06 AM
Now I believe they will get a TA2k and a B&M Floorless

06-04-2001, 11:46 AM
I bet they will get a B&M creation probably a floorless and a TA2K or a wild mouse.

06-04-2001, 12:43 PM
I have heard from employees and a maintenance guy there that it will be a thrust air. but then I heard from another guy that it will be "something obvious". we will see soon. When I was there for Coastermania friday I asked Dick Kinzel at the Intamin presentation about rides next year and he just smiled and said we will surprise you. and then he slapped me on my shoulder. real cool guy.

06-04-2001, 01:03 PM
A surprise next year? Intamin? hmm, well that could only mean that Cedar Point is getting an Intamin Pipeline roller-coaster. Figure:
- No other park around there has that ride.
- It would be the only one in the US
- It can loop
- It would be more comfortable than a TOGO ride
- It would be a total surprise because nobody would be expecting it
Just a thought, although personally I'd like to see a custom Flying Dutchman intertwined with the Iron Dragon, you know, your belly skimming the water, just barely avoiding Iron Dragon's track, just barely avoiding being hit by fountains, interlocked vertical loop with Corkscrew's loop, ect. It would (in the words of J.J. Walker) *clap* "Dy-no-mite!"
(but of course Six Flags Geauga Lake already has one, so I doubt that would happen, but its nice to dream isn't it?)

06-04-2001, 03:06 PM
I wouldnt care too much for a looper. I think they will get some type of launched or shuttle coaster

06-04-2001, 03:30 PM
Remember they still have a contract with Arrow. Forth Dimention??? Hmmmmm...

06-04-2001, 03:31 PM
Or a Arrowbatic!

06-04-2001, 03:33 PM
AND it will probably be 2 coasters. An Arrow 4D and a B&M milti looper or a BIG TA2K...

their next ride should be a woody. i mean they need a good CCI woody (okay, mean streak is slow, and blue streak is just too old) i think they should add a really long woody right on or by the beach. this coaster with lots of floaters and a few good turns should put cedar point on the woody map.

may the FORCE be with you
06-04-2001, 03:56 PM
I really doubt that they'd get a Hypersonic XLC. It seems they are not into any type of shuttle coasters, and a real coaster that is as short as a shuttle seems unlikely (yea, i know how short Corkscrew is, but it does feature a decent amount of elements, at least a few more than a launch, a hill, and a turn). Thats why i doubt they'd ever get a B&M vertical coaster either. I feel they should eliminate diaster transport and throw in a CCI and a B&M Floorless. That's my opinion on what i think they need. Of course the two rides would have to begin with "M" too. I also am guessing they aren't big with LIM coasters, since no Cedar Fair property has any, but Intamin can design them a wicked launched looper if they would go for it (Volcano - nuff said)

06-04-2001, 03:59 PM
Many CP coasters actuly do begin with M.

O.K., I've heard alot of people who said they talked to park employees, and a park employee who said he talked 2 he manager, say that they'll be getting 3 coasters. I've also heard alot of people say ta2k. So here's my guess: 4d, they still have a contract with Arrow and there aren't any in the area. I also think they'll get a TA2K since, again, I'm sure they'll wanna beat PKI and SFWoA to it. It's the 3rd 1 i'm not so certain about. It'll probably either be a CCI woody or something by intamin cuz i heard that they still have a contract w/ CP. Can anyone help me out what some possibilities from Intamin there are?

Moving to American parks.

I think they should get a B&M Floorless or sitdown.. actually, just any looping coaster... but dont make it compact at all.. they should try to weave it over pathways, around rides, through Mantis's loop (actually that would look pretty cool, espicially if the coasters colors were bright like mantis's), etc. It probably wont happen, but it would be cool.

06-04-2001, 11:33 PM
No, I don't

06-05-2001, 12:16 PM
That or an X coaster. Depends on what SFWOA builds.

06-05-2001, 05:33 PM
Seeying as how I already know what they are building in 2002, alot of these posts seem very funny.
Here's a hint though, (not a good one lol)
Have you noticed that alot of the world's top ten coaster aren't looping?
Kinzel wasn't kidding when he said he'll suprise us. You will be suprised!

How about a CCI Coney Island style woodie along the beach where the diving stadium is. They would have to move Ocean Motion and tear down the stadium, but hey, why not?

06-05-2001, 09:06 PM
i think that a thrst air is very probable seeing as they are not very expensve, labor intenisve or take up much space

06-06-2001, 08:37 PM
I would love to see a TA2K at Cedar Point. I just hope they can figure out a way to address the capacity issues on this ride...If it takes hours to wait for Hypersonic, imagine how long that wait would be at CP!

06-06-2001, 09:30 PM
I've thought, for a while, that CP would get a big TA2K, an Arrowbatic, and if they really want to dump some cash,a CCI woodie. And I've thought that long before you guys did, before these forums were even here.

06-06-2001, 10:40 PM
I think the 2 smartest things for CP to do would be to build a TA2K and a 4th-dimension coaster, SFMM is taking their records away 1 by 1 and they need to keep building. It would also help if they tore down Mean Streak, it sucks.

O.K., I think I know. I've heard twice now from people who have seen tons of fresh wood in the Mean Streak/Gemini area. So a CCI Woodie wouldn't be surprising. I've also heard quite a few times that Arrow has been making calculations around the Iron Dragon area. This could mean a 4d. It seems very logical when you consider that A. they still have a contract with Arrow. B. There aren't any in the area. And C. They don't want SFWoA to beat them to it like they did with Batman and X-Flight. And my last assumption. A TA2K. I've heard SOOOOOO many people say that CP will build one, and it wouldn't take up much space. I sure hope I'm right.

06-08-2001, 07:34 PM
A ta2k and 4th demension

06-15-2001, 05:30 PM
i think a TA2k is going to CP along with something else.

06-15-2001, 06:01 PM
I'm just hoping that someone will build an arrowbatic soon. I can't wait. Why would they build a floorless coaster when SFWoA already has one?

06-15-2001, 09:25 PM
I think they will wait on the 4D coaster. If X does well, they will probably get a bigger one!

06-15-2001, 09:26 PM
A Thrust Air coaster is still very possible. Whatever they get will be enormous! I just cant wait!!!

I don't want them to get a TA2k,, they seem to short to me, and I don't think they will make a coaster that intertwines with another one seeing that none of their current coasters do that.

06-16-2001, 12:32 PM
I've heard that one of their new coasters will be inside of Mean Streak's big center hole. That would be cool if they put a woodie inside a woodie. Then again, an Arrowbatic would probably fit in there easily.
Considering that Arrow has this contract with them, I would suspect that they would make an Arrowbatic and a 4th Dimension. Remember how SF is making one for the West and one for the East? Well, CP would have the one for the Midwest. Also, I don't know much about this "pipeline coaster", but it sounds like a good idea.
But no matter what they make, I'm sure it will be great.
Why don't they get a Siezmic by Setpoint, and a TA2K?
Intamin doesn't make a pipeline, that Arrow. And that is the Arrow contract, or its a Arrowbatic? Who knows?

06-16-2001, 04:59 PM
Im not sure. A thrust air sounds nice and that place right behind the Magnum pretzel looks like a possible spot. I wouldn't like to see it go up there because it is to good of a scenery area it might ruin that park of the ride.

I would really like to see a Seizmic go to Cedar Point, that ride looks sweet.
