View Full Version : Should we bring SpeedZone back?

We're working on the next generation of this site, and we are trying to gauge support on whether or not we should bring back SpeedZone.

SpeedZone, for those who don't remember or weren't around when we had it, was a section where members could share their creations from NoLimits, Rollercoaster Tycoon 1/2/3, and for a period of time early on, Scream Machines and Ultimate Ride. Other members could then download and rate their creations. We even had contests on who could create the best coaster or park.

Vote here, and if you feel you must, explain why. Remember, we are trying to gauge support, so we need as many people to vote as possible to get an idea on whether to bring it back. If there's only a few votes (even if they are all "yes" votes), that does not mean we will bring it back.

This poll will close three weeks from now.

Let it be known that I like to think of myself as the biggest supporter of the SpeedZone. ;)

I'm working on some new RCT2 and NL projects to share.

Yes, absolutely bring it back. It really seemed to liven up the place. Heck, it's how I found this place to begin with.

It's one of the reasons I joined the site too.

Bring it back, bring it back, BRING IT BACK!!! :)

I've started playing RCT2 again since my computer is being too stupid to run RCT3 (working on buying a newer, faster one, this hung of junk is almost 5 years old), and want to download stuff. :)

I recently found my rct discs and started playing again. I would be very glad to have a source for different designs to use without having to "reinvent the wheel."

Who voted no? Why would anyone want to vote no?

08-02-2010, 11:01 PM
DHollon did.

definitely bring it back!. i recently lost all my creations and downloaded tracks when my computer died. Id love to be able to download all my old tracks back!

Come on... we need some more voters. Just because there's 20 voters for bringing it back doesn't mean we will. Get others to vote! If we don't get enough voices, we can't bring it back.

I'm trying to spread the word through my signature.

Not looking too good... But does lack of forum visitation in the summer mean anything for the rest of the year?

We're going to make an announcement either Monday or Tuesday on the fate of SpeedZone.

That sounds rather ominous. (...at least in my head)

You wanna know something else? I was actually planning on bringing it back, but I did have a couple of doubters among staff, to which I decided to bring the question to the members. Hence, the poll, and the suspense leading up to my announcement.

I wonder who those doubters were. Now I can upload my painful tracks!

Doubt it was myself or Ryan. We still gotta finish the project we started half a decade ago. :-p

The doubters were a couple of people among staff... I'm not saying who to protect the innocent (they weren't against it, just doubted it).

Which one?
We started too many.

Well yeah, but you know that one awesome one that we sort of did but never fully finished because we didn't do a station for it... Maybe I should newtonize it!

So has the fate of Speed zone been decided?

10-19-2010, 02:41 AM
^Yes, it will be coming back as Steven said with this blog...

We ran into a few major glitches in trying to migrate the site back during the scheduled launch date. We had to revert, hence why it's still not up. It's still planned to be part of the next site.

Hey guys, any news on the new site? I haven't heard anything in a while.

12-10-2010, 08:18 PM
Lives got busy, and we're trying to find a time to make another attempt. Unfortunately we have to coordinate the time for two of us (myself and Graham) to work out the kinks and make another attempt. With our schedules and lives outside of this site, it's difficult for both of us.

I would love see speed zone! I would definatly show my parks and coasters in which I designed myself!
