View Full Version : How did you get your usernames?

06-15-2001, 12:31 PM
Some people have obvious names and others have more comfusing names. I am curious how you got some of these names.

06-15-2001, 12:38 PM
One day I was relaxing in a hamock, which is what most people do around here, and somebody said "man you are just a common potatoe" after that I was known as commontator. Even my teachers call me this now.

06-15-2001, 12:39 PM
i have used franklelock since registering for yahoo mail 3 years ago. i am a wrestling fan almost as much as i am a coaster fan. my first name is frank, and one of my favorite wrestler's finishing moves is the ankle lock. put them together, it's pretty simple.

Sir Willow
06-15-2001, 12:43 PM
Mine is actually a derivative of one that my high school students gave me when I was teaching at a school in Sacramento. At the time I had a weak attempt at a mustache and several of the kids thought that I looked like the main character from the movie Willow. (you know, the peck!)
<BR>Anyways it kinda stuck, but I found when I started to use it online I ran into 2 problems. It was already in wide use, and when I did get the nick I was often mistaken for a girl. Using SirWillow corrected both of those.

06-15-2001, 01:23 PM
My name comes from Bunsen Honeydew and Jim Henson, which are two of my heroes.<!-- BBCode Start --><IMG SRC="http://www.thrillride.com/phpBB/images/level4.gif
<BR>" BORDER="0"><!-- BBCode End -->

06-15-2001, 01:50 PM
well, its obvious where it comes from, but i acquired the nickname from my parents and cousins for my unhealthy obsession with the incredible hulk coaster.

06-15-2001, 03:52 PM
I thought up that name because I live right next to S&S Power and I love all the rides they build. I am very biased towards this company.

06-15-2001, 04:35 PM
Mine is randomly thought of. I have a dog that looks like a Dingo so i just wrote it cuz itz a bit different...

06-15-2001, 08:26 PM
one day i finished building a coaster on rct
<BR>i asked a friend what i should call it
<BR>he said "dogwumba" and it stuck
<BR>dogwumba is pronounced "dog-woohm-bah"

edit: but now i'm called shallowdays, which is a counting crows song

"she's drowning in the shallow days below..."

06-16-2001, 03:25 AM
anyone who knows me, i have a signature hair style. ever since my barber accidentally gave me a haircut and left the fringe up with a flick, i have had it up like that, this has been like this for about 6years!recently though, i have gave my head an all-over flick, going in the direction of the lead singer from Linkin Park's old cut, and my girlfriend hated it!
<BR>that is where i got Flix from, form the word flicks.
<BR>not much of a story, but a damn good topic!

06-16-2001, 08:08 AM

06-16-2001, 10:34 AM

06-16-2001, 10:56 AM
My Thrillride name is the name of my first looping roller coaster.

Swimming King
06-16-2001, 11:07 AM
I am a high school/year long swimmer. I love swimming, and competing. I also love Rollercoasters. One time, I was thinking of new lyrics for ABBA's song Dancing Queen (It was in math class or something, and I was bored to death) and so instead of Dancing Queen, I came up with Swimming King. The name stuck, and now I use it all the time.

06-16-2001, 12:49 PM
Well Kraken rules.
<BR>So one day I visited the Kraken and asked him if I could use his name. And he said "sure".

06-16-2001, 01:41 PM
Well, I'm a princess (naturally) and I can have an evil side..sooooo...
<BR>It's part of my aol and aim sn and I got it off a sparkly pink sticker in Hot Topic cuz I thought it was cute.

06-16-2001, 08:56 PM

06-16-2001, 11:50 PM
Location, location, location..... LOL. If you haven't yet figured it out swOHman stands for southwest Ohio man. I live in Dayton which is in southwest Ohio, so I just put two and two together LOL. My original sreename when I first got the interent was bravefan777 becuase I love the Atlanta Braves and 7 is the number of completion in the Bible, but that has little to do with coasters, so when I joined another forum a about a year and a half ago (URC to be exact), I just came up with swOHman. I still can't figure out why nobody can type it correctly though LOL.

06-17-2001, 12:20 AM
Mine does not come from any of the coasters named Vortex... it in fact was chosen about 6 1/2 years ago (in the 7th grade) when my nickname then "The Mac Attack" made most people think I liked rap, something I despised.
<BR>It comes from the concept of a spatial vortex, applicable in such things as black holes, wormholes, gravity wells, that kinda stuff.

06-17-2001, 10:33 AM
mine RCTfreak came from some of my friends sayind I played RCT so much they called me a RCTfreak and it went from there

Matt M
06-17-2001, 03:08 PM
<BR> I signed up when i was 12, which was then when u r a "kid". Now im 13 and im a "adolescent" or a "preteen" according to my @#$%!? school. Anyway, I like roller coasters, i was a kid when i signed up, and my initals are MWM! I think my name should be CoasterpreteenMWM of CoasteradolescentMWM, but CoasterkidMWM works better for me

06-19-2001, 11:35 AM
Well I'm from Canada. And Canadians are sometimes called Canucks. So I chose Coaster Canuck.

06-19-2001, 11:29 PM
I am 6'2" and about 155 pounds, and believe it or not, I throw the shotput and discus on my high school varsity track team. When I was a freshman a little over 2 years ago, I was the only person on the team that weighed in at under 250 pounds, so everyone on the team started calling me "skinny guy". The name has stuck ever since!

Orient Expressman
06-24-2001, 08:12 PM
Mine named after the Orient Express rollercoaster at Worlds of Fun themepark.

Ben Keller
06-24-2001, 08:13 PM

06-24-2001, 08:26 PM
Its not cause of the coaster, tho i do liek that too. I just really think the Riddler is cool. Hes my favorite villain.

Well, I got my name because I like cheese. I thought it was pretty obvious. But that's just me.

08-03-2001, 03:16 PM
Here's mine: I was walking near a school with a friend of mine and there were French exchange people staying at the school. One of them was outside smoking a cigarette. My friend turned to me to say something and he said, "Hey, Alex" (Alex being my name). The French guy looked at us and said, "Haux" (pronounced "hawks"). I looked at him and said, "Yeah, Haux" and the French guy gave a thumbs-up and said "YEEEAAAHH!!!" really loud! It was funny at the time. That was five years ago and I'm still Haux!

08-03-2001, 08:05 PM
No interesting story it's my screename so it's easier for me to remember

08-03-2001, 10:21 PM

Dr.Bruce Banner
08-04-2001, 01:49 AM
Mine Comes From my obsession with The hulk coaster :D

08-04-2001, 08:14 AM
Mine's from the musical 'Ragtime'. Coalhouse Walker Jr. is the main charactor. I thought it'd be cool to have a gay name vs. a coaster name.

08-04-2001, 06:14 PM
i'll be a cedar point freak 4 life!!!!!!

08-04-2001, 06:36 PM
Mine is my favorite character from the greatest game of all time, Conker's Bad Fur Day.

The Goodfella
08-04-2001, 07:05 PM
Mines from one of the greatest movies of all time.

Honan Beetch

I got my name from an inside joke. That's all I have to tell.....

08-05-2001, 12:18 AM
My name is Timmy and I'm from St. Louis. hard one to figure out!!

08-05-2001, 12:04 PM

Mod Edit: Spelling come the way you did is not acceptable on these boards.

08-05-2001, 02:37 PM

08-06-2001, 02:30 PM
One day I was bored and wanted to change my Palace screename, so I changed it to .eKã!3. (that spells DeKalb if you can't read it). So when I signed up here I wanted to get another screename, but I couldn't think of anything else, so that's what I put in.

08-06-2001, 03:46 PM
My nickname has evolved over the years. It came from two similar names/ideas that morphed into one.

When I was in college I played an online game and was the leader of a clan. I gave out quests that involved searching for a bunch of different types of squid: bbq squid, squid on a stick, etc etc.

My family gave me the nickname tentacle from when I used to wrestle they said my arms were moving around so fast I looked like a squid with a bunch of tentacles. To this day they still call me that.

When I registered for one of my friends HotLine servers I just used the name MagicSquid, and to this day it's stuck.

There you have it, the evolution of MagicSquid. Actually, if you happen to see me driving around town feel free to say hello. My license plate is related to what I've typed here... quite ingeniously if I do say so myself. ;)

08-06-2001, 04:25 PM
The antfarm thing was from when someone had an antfarm thing on their back pack and my last name started with Ant, so the name stuck. 007 is from Bond obviously.

08-06-2001, 04:33 PM
I use this screenname everywhere

phantom- Phantom's Revenge
penguin- I'm from Pittsburgh and I love hockey

08-09-2001, 12:54 AM
mine dates back to when i still followed wrestling religiously. big fan of the rock so i thought, "Hey what about T..rock?" so there you go...the rock = trock(476=bicentennial).

08-09-2001, 01:02 AM
Mine is simple, I love the Drachen Fire, and in 1996 I rode it 43 times in a single day, a personal record that I probably will never break.

10-05-2001, 05:57 PM
ForceCoaster was my Screen Name and E-mail address from coasterbuzz until i left and came here, so i used the same name

10-05-2001, 06:03 PM
Well, my screen name's kind of outdated now, but...

When I signed up, my #1 steel coaster in RCT was Valpengeist, and it stuck. Actually, my #1 now is Tempest, but I didn't want to change it.

P.S.- My password is my #2 Wood coaster on RCT...but like Valpengeist, it was overtaken by another coaster.

10-05-2001, 06:04 PM
EZ The Hulk

10-05-2001, 06:13 PM
My username is also part of my e-mail adress. The clothing store that I was infamous for going to was J-Crew, so that created part of my name. Back in my college frat days, I was notorious for being the one to tap the last ounce of the keg @ every party and was nicknamed "Brew-Boy". The year was just tacked on since, for some reason, jbrew was already taken as an e-mail adress(which I thought was strange).

10-05-2001, 06:48 PM
CedarPoint is the easy part to figure out. "Mark" comes from a term in wrestling. Mark means--gullible fan. I guess I'm not as gullible as my name would show...

10-05-2001, 06:51 PM
Mines from the simpsons. I like it cuz its kind of an inside joke wit all simpson fans. If you watch the simpsons regularly, you will know where I got it.

10-05-2001, 06:55 PM
My user name means I'm not good at coming up with creative user names, so I just used the name of a coaster I liked. Raptor isn't even my favorite coaster, but at the time everyone had MF in their user name, and nobody had Raptor, so I chose Raptor. If I ever come up with a more creative user name, i'll ask the mods to chage it.

10-05-2001, 07:45 PM
Well I actually chose this nickname, my nickname in school is G-slick, but I wanted something different when I'm on this site, so I figured that I'm the jokester in my school, I like to tell jokes and make people laugh plus I want to be a stand-up comedian when I grow up, second I'm the person that isn't scared of any coasters and takes vacations at parks, So I added joker and coaster and so became Jokercoaster

Johnny Upsidedown
10-05-2001, 08:06 PM
Well my name was simple.
I love Roller Coasters and being upsidedown on them. So it just fits me. Kinda grew into the name along with the development of my website about coasters. After attending many coaster events people start to rember the name.

See ya upsidedown

10-05-2001, 08:29 PM
Well mine is self explanatory, no it doesn't mean i am stupid and i can't spell excellent. mine means x(the coaster)cellent(jus cuz i am excellent)

10-05-2001, 10:29 PM
Mine came from a nickname my fiancee gave to me. Since we both like coasters and post here I decided to use it for fun. If you met me you could see how much I am not like the moniker except for the fact that my name is Joe or Joey as she calls me.

10-05-2001, 10:51 PM
My came from the fact that I'm from Lima (OH), I like coasters, and I'm a boy.

10-06-2001, 12:38 AM
Xtreme Roller Coaster Fanatic

Pantera Psycho
10-06-2001, 01:52 AM
Well, Pantera's been one of my favorite bands for almost 10 years now, and well, for the second part, just meet me, you'll realize why I picked that out.

10-06-2001, 02:32 AM
Well, if you haven't figured it out by now, my name is Doug. Back in freshman year i played in a band and the drummer talked in a real "valley" style. He attached -ness to everything... like coolness... so he called me "Dougness." My AIM name is HisRoyalDougness, but i've shortened it since to just "HisDougness."

Sticky Fingaz
10-06-2001, 12:36 PM
Well i listen to rap music and my favorite rapper is Sticky Fingaz from onyx, no i dont steal alot

10-06-2001, 01:38 PM
My name- Joe17123 comes from my aol s/n.

10-06-2001, 06:43 PM
I like outer space and the idea of space tourism. Also, a curiosity in UFOs and such. My lucky # is 23. So, rocketman23 sounded catchy.

10-06-2001, 07:17 PM
Well mine comes from 3 facts:

1: I luv Coasters
2: I am pretty young compared to most posters here
3: MJ is the man

Coaster(1)Kid(2)23(3) !!!

10-07-2001, 12:07 AM
When people at church found that I worked at Rolling Thunder, and missed many services and events because I thought my work was appreciated, they called me ThunderDan. Turns out I didn't grow much as a Christian at Great Adventure.

10-07-2001, 08:38 PM
Mine just represents me, I like to smile a lot! :D

10-07-2001, 08:43 PM

My nick come from my extreme hated of this particular poster (JOKES man! Jest Jokes).

Seriously though, peopl give me crap because I tell them that Raptor isnt the greatest invert in the world. I'm quite vocal in my dissenting opinion that Montu, Alpengeist, Top Gun @ Carowinds, Fire Dragon and Batman the Ride (GAm, GAdv, StL) are all more outstanding rides than Raptor. So vocal that someone called me on my "Raptor hating". So that's me, the RaptorHater!

10-11-2001, 02:07 AM
I work used to work in a restaurant with 3 other Pauls, so I told everyone to call me Pauley, and I like Roller Coasters...hence Pauleycoaster.

10-14-2001, 02:57 AM
because I love coasters..lol

10-14-2001, 10:51 AM
Well, I chose my name because I like the way alliteration (sp?) sounds. I'm also crazy about coasters. I dont know, I kind of have this thing where I like everything to be symetrical, so the closest I could come to symetry was with alliteration. LOL

10-14-2001, 12:09 PM
b/c imo raging bull is number 1

10-14-2001, 02:34 PM
When rumors started coming out about PKI's 2002 attractions, there were many rumors about a flat ride code-named "Inferno"(which TR probably is), so I just decided to make my Username Inferno.

10-14-2001, 04:04 PM
No clue where I got my user name from, don't like it all too much though.

12-10-2001, 08:20 AM
What does your coasterforum member name mean. I'll start with me. I really just like the word rebel. Plus I like to disagree with what everyone says, so that is kind of rebellious. As for 2000, i just like that number. I'd really like to see how some people's names came to be!

12-10-2001, 09:17 AM
mine means that Six Flags New England Stinks!!!
but i dont hate the park(i just dont like it)

12-10-2001, 10:06 AM

12-10-2001, 11:01 AM
Phantom Revenge because that was the first steel hyper that ive been on, and 67 is my hockey number

12-10-2001, 11:28 AM
I seem to recall posting on this question before but couldn't find the link. Everyone here calls me mark. That is not my name, I am Andrew, but I use "mark" for a reason.

CP is my home park and the one I visit more than anything else. Mark is a wrestling term used to describe a fan, sometimes gullible, but also knowledgeable. And that is why I am CedarPoint_Mark.

Out of my Extreme Loyalty to Cedar Point and all within It.

1984 v. 2.5
12-10-2001, 10:12 PM
Well, I thought I had replied to this thread already but I guess not. Well, originally I was 1984, named after the greatest novel of all time, "1984" by George Orwell. Lol, and you guys all thought that was probably the year I was born or something. Anyway, I started out as just 1984, until we got a new computer, so I upgraded my screen name to 1984 v. 2.5. Pretty simple.

Just remember, Big Brother is watching you.

12-11-2001, 08:40 PM
i dont think i need to explain mine its pretty obvious.

12-12-2001, 09:48 AM
mine is the name of my web site

12-12-2001, 10:24 AM
Well, I'm not only a comic book fan but also an archery fan and I thought what would an archer comic book hero's name be, aside from the Green Arrow, Arowette, etc etc. (Those are lame names anyway) So I thought about the pefect eye for shooting an arrow and TheEye was born. Plus it sounds pretty dark and Ominous, "Beware TheEye!"

So that's my story.

Dr.Bruce Banner
12-12-2001, 04:11 PM
I got mine from Hulk at IOA. Dr Bruce Banner Changes into the hulk!

12-12-2001, 06:02 PM
I used to play soccer a lot a while back.

Some of the people on my team started calling me Skeeber for some reason...

Basically, it's the only nickname I've been given that's suitable for a family site... :)

Mforce2k, Its pretty self-explanatory. MForce = Millennium Force (THE best ride ON THE PLANET!!!!!!) and 2k = 2000 (the year it opened, and I just think MForce2k sounds pretty cool) its a good combination I think.

I know that band! They got quite high up in the music charts here in england if i remember rightly! Very weird music and even weirder video to it!

I bet no one can guess where my name came from, lol. The only reason I have it as my boring name is coz I used to be a mod but I got kicked off coz I forgot to say I was going to Greece for 2 weeks, whoops!

actually, i was readin through the old old old coasterforums and i saw one of your posts. you started a thread called "girls!" and your first post was this " I like girls, just look at my name, i picked it cause it was a girl and a good ride B&R:TC is my favorite ride though. But how do you get a girl to like you?
I feel more comfortable asking this here cause there are only like ten girls here and i know that no one i know will go to this site and see this. And alot of people hear seem like they are in thier teens like me"

so im guess you got your name because you like medusa because she's a girl

(lol, www.archive.org can do people good)

My name is pretty obvious. I like coasters, I'm a kid, and my favorite # is 22.

12-23-2001, 12:20 AM
I was thinking of X at the time and C is the first letter in my name

12-23-2001, 10:02 PM
well, I got my name because I'm a freak and I LOVE ROLLER COASTERS! so the two naturally fit.

Well, I guess I should explain my name now. See it all happened one night when my parents were alone one night...rushed to the Hospital... evreyone Screaming... Hector was my name.

Ok... time for the brainstormer...
First of all, when Montu had just debuted, I had just started playing paintball. A year later, my friends and I started an Amateur B team. We won some local tournaments around LA. When you play paintball, you can't use your names on the field, or normal talk (at least for us, it was just a bad idea, the other team could hear us talk strategy) so we all came up with aliases to put on the back of our jerseys. I thought Montu was pretty cool. I got Montu on the back of my jersey. Then Son of Beast came out... a long time later. I haven't played paintball much lately, cuz I moved from LA. I just thought Son Of Montu would be sweet for a B&M AIR. So its my name.

12-24-2001, 04:34 PM
I like airtime so much that I heart it. So that's how I came up with my name.

i was known as evilhand on everything. it was my "hacking callsign" i worked for a german site that got closed down and i erased everyhting that had to do with it. not concerned about it now so i am free to speak about it. the name evilhand came from the game Dungeon Keeper for PC. the cursor you use is a green hand. you are evil so evilhand. taintedhand is due to my recreation of the name. o well

I got mine in a really strange way. When I was signing up for the ThrillRide boards a little more then a year ago, I couldn't think of a good name. Initially, I was going to go with the name "Reviewer", which is one of my nicknames, because I review my friend's RCT parks for them. Then, I decided that I wanted something that concered either Cedar Point or Cedar Fair, but I also wanted something that described who I was. While I was thinking, I was absentmindidly flipping through my school notebook on my desk when I saw this one paper. In her English class at the beginning of the year, my girlfriend had to chose a person and write a list of adjectives about them, and she chose me (I guess she had no one better to do), and then she gave me the paper. At least, that what she told me. I always had liked taking the beginning letters of words, and forming new words out of those, so I tried it with the words that she had come up with about me. After about 10 minutes, they came together and spelled out the words "Cedar" "Fair", and "Master". At first, I thought about "Master of Cedar Fair", but then I shortened it to "CedarFairMaster".

I know I already posted in this thread but most people are too lazy to read the whole thing so I'm gonna delete my post and post again. A lot of people ask me what my screen name means. Well, here goes:

LOL, my name is such a mystery.

MST3K stands for Mystery Science Theater 3000, which is one of my favorite TV shows. I like it a lot, so I am a MST3K Freak. I'm also devilish, so I tried 666 as the number after my name. I made a typo and wrote 6666. As ForceCoaster :devil: explained, it means I am a devil plus one.

06-18-2002, 12:16 PM
Ug. I hate my sn and wanted Vortex, but it was already taken. SO i thought about Riddler'sRevenge, but that was already taken, so I put an 'r' at the end and shortened riddler, and got this monstrosity.

Mine came about when I would explain elements, coaster makers, the facts and stats of roller coasters to my group of deaf friends and hearing friends(all of them werent coaster enthaunists, but me) on a coaster trip in 1999 and a friend got tired of my coaster talk so he said "Thanks for the lesson, Professor Koaster Freak!" That stunned me for a minute then everyone else started to call me that and it stuck since and it was an ideal name for me to use on the boards!:)

Spiral slide= Doomsday device, Slide to Satan's Lair
Merry go Round= Divorce go Round
Log Ride= The Unflushable Turd, Old Man Floating
Wooden= The Wood That Stood
Any hanging ride= H*ng Like a Horse
Water Slide= Torment Tube

Well, my name is a nickname I have at school. It's actually the only thing people call me. For some reason they don't use my real name lol. It's a combo of my first and last name. BTW, i just read through this thread and I could have sworn I already posted in it, but actually didn't see my name lol.

Its always good to see a thread get pulled up from way down in the dumps, especially one that I've started.

An old football nick name...and I don't mean Gridiron. I'm talking real football...Rugby League. U know the game they play without the padding. I was told that you could hear me coming like thunder across the plain when I would run on the field. I guess they just ment that I was a big bloke.

Odd, how no one had replied to this thread after CedarPoint_Mark pointed it out............

I am a total klutz. My first day at work, I tripped while holding a tray full of medications, knocked a patient chart off of a shelf, almost stuck myself with a syringe, and spilled a bottle of bleach on an exam table. Even though my name is Erin, the staff started calling me Gracie, and it's stuck ever since.

05-20-2003, 10:27 PM
Mine is from my favorite comic, Calvin and Hobbes. Also because my middle name is Calvin.

Also, on another note, alot of cute girls at my school call me teddy bear. Why? Reasons:
1: I am big and soft.
2: I am fuzzy (sentimental)
3: I look sad and alone, like the bears on display in the shops.
4: They like me.
I wanted to say that because I was going to make Teddy bear my username, but it sounded kind of gay.

05-20-2003, 11:01 PM
EH gracie...I think who ever merged these threads hacked off some posts as well.

But to those that forgot...CP is/was my home park. "Mark" is a term used in sports to describe the gullible fan....the ass in the seats. My real name is Andrew.

EDIT: Whoops...I guess not. This is the original "How'd you get your name..." Hopefully the clone will be locked soon.

Here (http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/showthread.php?s=&postid=105279#post105279) is the story of my first username. When I became a moderator in April 2002, I got the name Chip. My real name is Alex and we're supposed to use our real names, but I didn't want confusion with Alex Westerman, so I decided to use my cool nickname. A few years back, a friend of mine said I should throw "Chip" in my name since it looked cool in programs for the plays I was in in high school. She was right. :D

05-21-2003, 08:32 AM
Well as most of you know I used to be coasetrphil, but after a quick correction by Steven I'm just plain old coasterphil.

Add coaster to my nickname and you get coasterphil.

Mine is a take-off of Son of Beast. To make a long story short. The Beast at PKI is my all time favorite coaster. The Beast coaster has a son, obviously called Son of Beast. I'm a female, so I'm Daughter_of_beast

i was stocking the top shelf inside of the freezers at work and some old lady called me a freezermonkey, i thought to myself that would be a cool username to use ,and there it is!

my names is not jimmy. it never was nor will be. in fact no one even nicknamed me jimmy. i guess i just was bored and wanted something pertaining to coasters. jimmy sounded cool. so jimmy+coaster+man. and man because jimmy coaster was missing something. and last time i checked i was a guy.

05-23-2003, 05:22 PM
Back when I first registered, my favorite coaster was Riddler's Revenge. That's were the "Riddler" part comes from. "156" is its height.

05-27-2003, 04:13 AM
Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was a time where the was no such thing as the 'Internet' (>crowd respondes< GASP! "SAY IT AIN'T SO!"). Yes, my friends, in your eyes, we may have lived in the dark ages, but we were still able to share information, converse, play games, and download/upload files on systems that were known as Bulletin Board Systems (BBS's...although this 'forum' is a BBS, these were dramatically different back then...I want responses from folks who remembers these things...such as WWIV and >horray!< DOOR GAMES!).

These were run by various individuals that wanted to hook-up with other friend's computers...and these were FREE!!

To get on topic, my original 'alias' (as they were commonly called back then) was Hitman (Named after Bret 'The Hitman' Hart).

I would logon using my old P.O.S. IBM XT (8088...this thing ran at about...2-4 MHZ, methinks, and had about 640 kb of RAM..DOS 5.0 last time I used it). We're talking ANSI & ASCII graphics, text-only screens.

When the Internet went corporate, I had aquired a 286, and was actually able to do limited Internet Browsing (Albeit text-based). I ended up logging on to one of my first IRC chat rooms, and, surprsingly, Hitman was not taken.

So, as I chated 'online', when asked my ASL, I was about 16-17 years old. Many of the folks I chatted with were in their 30's, so I was considered the 'Rug-Rat' of the group. 'Rug-Rat' (and many forms of it) were already taken, so I had chosen 'Ruggie'. Shorter, yet, more audibly pleasing s/n. And it has stuck since.

What ticks me off is that there have been SEVERAL HUNDREAD/THOUSHAND Ruggie's out there over the years, so it completly killed my notion that I thought it was original.

Long story, I know...but I thought it would be interesting.

05-27-2003, 07:11 AM
It's a wrestling thing...

05-27-2003, 05:28 PM
Hey Big Daddy Cool...

just a hint, wrestling is very unwelcome here. However, I do know of some coaster forums that accept wrestling realted topics and don't attack themn like this very site does. If interested, drop me a PM.

By the way, "mark" has a wrestling meaning to it as well. It was probably all those "marks" in the seats that cheered on your namesake in the early 90s.

05-28-2003, 09:22 PM
What about your TN name before becoming an editor?

05-28-2003, 10:10 PM
Rebel2000? Ok.

First, lemme tell you that I'm not really a rebel. In fact, I'm probably one of the most conservative guys you'll ever meet. I like Bush, support the war, and hate punk music (except the Clash). Not very rebellish. Rebel is just some alias I've been using for years, and has kinda stuck. It actually came from a custom character that I created in an N64 wrestling game. 2000 is just some random number.

03-24-2004, 11:39 AM
Well, see, I only joined this thing because I liked reading what my boyfriend had to say (I know kind of stalkerish lol but he knows, so at least there's consent there)...so because I feel like I don't belong into this community because I am not a rollercoaster ethusiast (I just work at a park and enjoy going to them...I'm no where near hardcore though), I consider myself an outcast...:) I guess that kind of makes sense!

03-24-2004, 12:37 PM
Don't worry, The Outcast. We'll help you feel welcome. Ask your questions and talk to your boyfriend! We'll "fix" you. :D

I was named after my dad. He was Henry and I was Henry J. He was big Henry and I was little Henry. Then, everyone started calling him Hank and me Henry (except most Polish people who always put the letter D in my name - Hendry). When I started working, people started to call me Hank and it stuck. Now my father is gone, so there is less confusion. Everyone calls me Hank except my mom, my wife, and my brother. My last name translates into Fisher, which is the name I give when ordering a pizza or requesting reservations at resturaunts.

So, my user name was kind of a no-brainer.

03-24-2004, 04:39 PM
Mine was because I was not really happy with Carowinds at the time in 2001 when I joined. So I picked one of my favorite parks and went with Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Too bad we can't change our names. :) lol (Not that I don't still love BGW, it'd just be cool to change it to PCFreak or something along those lines, since PC is actually coming up the ranks in my favorite parks after this opening weekend).

03-24-2004, 04:43 PM
Usualy people call me taz, but since I have always been a big magnun fan and this is a coaster site, I thought I add the name to mine. Robert got his from Dan the other somewhat famous magnum rider. But its all history now.

My name comes from the defunct wave pool at GL. The waves were 6 feet and the pool was HUGE. And now I miss it so I use it as my screen name. And the 89 is the year I ws born. Not 89 AD, but 1989.

03-26-2004, 04:41 PM
Magnum Robert used to be known as Kent State Bob to a few people. MagKelly known as Taz?? I don't see it.

I used to "Mark" out for Cedar Point, hence CP_M.

03-26-2004, 04:44 PM
Taz was my first nick name back when I was at Karate in 99. Yes, I loved that name and hence for being crazy and causing havoc. I still use Taz in my aol im name as well. BTW where have you been??????? Anyways BOB huh? No wounder thats the name at the taco place.

03-26-2004, 04:52 PM
I set one thing straight- my name is not Jimmy. I just thought of a name, added on "coaster" being a male, added man. And somehow thats how my name came to be....had nothing to do with..anything.

03-26-2004, 06:05 PM
Chopped up my first name and my last name, took my favorite # and glued it all together.

03-27-2004, 03:07 PM
Linkin Park + Reanimation + me = LP_Reanimator

got it? good...

06-23-2004, 01:56 AM
This is an old thread, but interesting so I thought I would bring it back.

I got my username because I didn't what I wanted to be and when I was in 4th grade I was in a group and to do a presination in front of the class. We had to come up with fake names so I came up with Sparky. I have no clue why. But now when I look at the word Sparky, it sounds weird, so I just changed it around a little bit and got a new name and I liked it and made it my username.

For those of you wondering about my username, I have had a life long interest in meteorology, the science of weather, which is what I'm currently studying in college. My favorite field of meteorology is tropical cyclones/hurricanes. During my earlier years especially as a child, I always followed the tropical season closely as a hobby tracking and observing hurricanes as they occur. And having been through several hurricanes that had hit the Texas coast, I've been amazed by their spectacular power and fury unleashed by nature.

I was practically given the name hurricane by my classmates way back in high school. And so that's how I got it.

06-23-2004, 02:34 PM
My real name is lance, and since 6th grade everyone at school started calling me Lancelot. Work, school, and anywhere else people have always called me "Lancelot." So i've used that for email, AIM, and everything else.

I was named after Saints Andrew and Anthony, plus Anthony was my grandfather's first name. I took Paul as my confirmation name (religious, do NOT want to get into it). Paul who was converted from Saul.

hahaha old thread.

well, when we got windows xp, and we all had to have seperate accounts, instead of just using our names like what would have been logical, my dad picked these random usernames. e is for my first name, j is my middle name, and atwd is my last name minus all the vowels except for the a. i use this as a user name for everything now b/c otherwise i would get confused.

[QUOTE=Rebel2000]Rebel2000? Ok.

First, lemme tell you that I'm not really a rebel. In fact, I'm probably one of the most conservative guys you'll ever meet. I like Bush, support the war, and hate punk music (except the Clash). Not very rebellish.[QUOTE]

You live in a box! ;)

Uh...my name's Calvin.

01-17-2005, 11:13 PM
I've probably posted in this thread before but I'm not gonna rumage through 14 pages of replies to check.

I've used Cid as an internet alias for many years now. It was my first Aol account name, and I have kept it on Aim since. I'd say I've had it since about 1997. The only bases I could begin to think of for it would either be Sid 6.7 from Virtousity, or the forever reoccuring Cid charcters in the Final Fantasy series.

I don't really have any nicknames in real life and i wanted to come up with something other than my usual screen name and the only thing i could think of was how i usually light the lint on my socks on fire at a friends house, and i used to carry a lighter but i don't smoke. Come to think of it i haven't done the sock thing in a while, so i might have to do that soon.

I thought long and hard, then thought - "Hey, everyone calls me Hank, why not go with that?" End of discussion!

Life can be simple, eh?

Well, the main character from the book "Where is Joe Merchant" by Jimmy Buffett was named Frank Bama. I really liked the book, so....

When I first got on AOL, FBama was taken, so I needed a number. I'd rather not discuss why the "73"

01-18-2005, 09:45 AM
Eriol was a fellow who went to Tol Eressea and learned many tales and wonders from the elves there. I got it mainly from "The Book of Lost Tales" by JRR Tolkien.

Hmm, I guess mine has two ways at looking at it. I live on the East Coast so I'm EastCoastn...Or you can look at it how the east has some of the best rollercoasters and I've ridden a lot of them. I dunno, I just used the same one I made up at my websites forum. Also, 07 is the year I graduate. CLASS OF 2007! LOL

I used to be Roller Coaster Lover back at Fluxd.com

I transfered here, and it wouldn't fit.

01-19-2005, 01:28 PM
Mine is pretty self explanatory. I wanted to get on the site quick, that and I use the username on all the site I go to. I wish it wasn't so cheesey but oh well it is done.

Well CoasterDJ is pretty self explanatory seeing my career. I work, or am looking to return to it again, in radio broadcasting and I love coasters. I used to use an NCDJ when I first got online (but did not discover Thrill Network up until the last year or so if I recall correctly), but since I have not worked in North Carolina Radio since 2001, it didnt seem to fit.

05-15-2006, 07:58 PM
Well...how did you?
My mom made mine, and then didn't use it so I did. So later I got banned for 3 days for having two accounts, when really the one was mine and this was my mom's, but I prefer this one anyway, everyone knows me on it.
Siesta Key is an island in Florida I used to vacation to every year.

siestakey, I found another thread you are looking for.....you are welcome! ;)

Topic is merged with the original.

a - first initial p - last initial sterling- middle name

05-15-2006, 09:39 PM
I took a fairly overused and uncreative name-coasterfreak-got rid of the "e" to make coastrfreak and put it together with a random number-2000. Thus equalling an overused and uncreative name with a number.

05-15-2006, 09:41 PM
I thought of mine after I rode Sheikra last Summer and at the time TTD was my favorite coaster.

05-15-2006, 10:18 PM
National Lampoon's Vacation.......need I say more?

05-15-2006, 10:30 PM
It's actually very complicated, and I don't feel like explaining it right now. Maybe someday you'll all find out the mystery of 89magnumxl200.

My nickname, given to me in high school. Actually, because I am a Catholic church musician, and I played masses and funerals every morning to pay for my tuition, my classmates called me Hank the Pipes - you know, the pipe organ - and sometimes they just called me Pipes.

What I think is quite humorous is that the Polish immigrants in the late 1800's and early 1900's all had nicknames, usually using vegatables for the names - such as Beans, Peas, Oats, etc. - or the veggies Polish names such as Barley (Kasha) Rice (Bialy) etc.

My uncle Johnny was called Fica. When I got older and was receiving pay checks, I was so po'd because every check had a witholding for FICA which I thought was my uncle getting some of my wages! Of course, FICA is Social Security witholdings.

05-15-2006, 10:44 PM
I just thought up of something that would stand out.

05-16-2006, 01:01 AM
My name.. yeah...

CP Maverick
05-16-2006, 03:18 AM
Cedar Point's new coaster....

...ok maybe not but it is kind of ironic. Cedar Point and Top Gun character that I supposedly look like. And I am a "maverick"...

05-16-2006, 03:21 AM
Last name. And there it is.

05-16-2006, 07:51 AM
At first I was steelvenom03 at - get this - neopets.com. Then everyone started calling me steel and I just ran with it.

05-19-2006, 01:55 AM
Theres this band called Slipknot. And they used to rock back in 1999-2001.

Coincidentally, I joined a coaster site in 2001. So I put the bands name, plus my street address at the time.

Now slipknot sucks......

That is my sad tale.

In J.R.R. Tolkien's "Book of Lost Tales," the central character is a fellow named Eriol who travels to Tol Eressea.

05-19-2006, 06:59 PM
At the time I had a M1 hockey stick (Mission 1). But, now I have a Synergy SL Grip so it doesnt really work. Haha.

05-19-2006, 07:31 PM
It is my e-bay name. I thought about a silly name and since I have a bit of a big belly, I just came up with it. I now use it for everything because believe it or not no one ever has it taken:)

05-19-2006, 07:32 PM
How or when do can I change my Jr. Poster title?

05-19-2006, 08:21 PM
There's this coaster...and apparently no one likes it that much but me... You have the choice of determining if it's made by Vekoma or by Schmeck...

05-19-2006, 11:25 PM
John 1:42. I think...

My original name (EastCoastn07) originated on the other site I help with (XtremeCoastin.com) and it stayed like that until I became an editor. Now I'm special and my username is my name...interesting story right? lol

One of my favorite heavy metal bands is Demon Hunter and the 4337 has something to do with Mean Streak from when I worked on it.

-American Viper
05-20-2006, 01:32 PM
Mine comes from the two wooden coasters at my local park: American Eagle and Viper.

05-20-2006, 08:59 PM
i love rollercoasters

I had this name way back when RCTB**** was danimation.

05-20-2006, 09:06 PM
How or when do can I change my Jr. Poster title?

To do that click on Hi,bigbellybuys! on the far right of the main toolbar at the top of the page. Your main control page thingy will come up. On the control panel on the right of the page click Edit Profile. Scroll down a bit to the Additional options section and change your title under the custom user title section.

05-20-2006, 11:36 PM
I thought I already posted in this thread , but apparently I haven't...so here's something c&p'd from another forum I go to where I have the same name.

"I'm a roller coaster enthusiast. So I decide to check out a coaster book. Called Roller Coasters, mmkay. And near the front of the book, the history of roller coasters. Good. The name La Marcus Thompson came up. Apparently he was the first person to get a patent and build the first real coaster. And it says he was probably influenced by the Mauch Chunk Switchback Railroad, what was originally just a coal transporter, but was popular with tourists, who paid $1 to ride this thing. Interested in it and RCT2, I went to the official RCT2 website. The first link I liked was Thrillnetwork.com. So yeah. Went there, and decided to register after what, 1-2 months? The name came to mind. Unfortunately I was too quick to space or spell Mauch right. Now I use it at almost every forum I go to."

05-20-2006, 11:55 PM
Let's see...I'll give you a few of my nicknames too, 'cause they're kinda funny...

JamMasterJ - I love all kinds of music, and I'm a pretty good singer...also, he (Jam Master Jay) had just gotten shot and I was heartbroken beacause I love Run-DMC. So people just started calling me that. I didn't feel like putting spaces in it when I typed it.

Iceman - I supposedly have ice in my veins instead of blood. This came as a development of being 6-0 pitching varsity ball as a freshman. Unfortunately, when I recently cut myself, I found this to be untrue. Then again, I wasn't pitching at the time...

J - I for some reason went through a phase earlier this year where I could not manage to spell my own name. Don't ask why, I just couldn't do it. The sad thing is, it's only three letters long. J-A-Y. Not that hard, right. I proved that wrong. So, my teachers and friends cut it down to one letter.

Hurl J - They combined me with my fav woodie.

05-21-2006, 12:12 AM
Dis- Disney

Garde- Busch Gardens

Versal- Universal

pretty self explanatory, I picked out my favorite three park chains/companies and ended up putting them together in the very first way I could think of.

05-29-2006, 01:45 AM
I was working in ride photo at Cedar Point when I registered. Truthfully, I thought I was going to spend more than one season plus one day working at the park. I loved my job, but as most of you know, amusement parks don't pay squat, and when I got a better offer to become a travel agent, I had to take it. Oh well, I will always have the memories and this screen name anyway.
