| | | Most of the time it is Osama.
But it can also be Usama, because it is orginally translated from Arabic. Since that language does not use our letters, translations can vary. The same happens with Asian text too. Sometimes things are translated using "S"s or "X"s, and other stuff too. It's all based on sound.
I think there is an official thing out there which helps translate spelling of other languages that do not use out letters, but who knows? It all sounds the same. |

| | | RiFT is exactly right, it has to do with how the persian characters are translated into roman alphabet. I've seen "Osama" much more frequenlty than "Usama", however.

| | | It's really funny because Bill Clinton pronounced it like you-say-ma bin Lay-den, which is completely wrong, I think.

| | | Most Arabs and probably others use Usama, but in other places like here in America, a lot of us pronounce it Osama. So it really just kind of depends on what part of the world you live in.

| | | My take is that it is written "Osama" but pronounced "Usama".

| | | It officially is Usama. In the videos when bin Laden speaks it says UBL also, I think the media is just messed (what else is new?)

| | | This is a really good question. Also, to go along with it, is it Al-Qaida, or Al-Qaeda? I've seen both of them, too.
