| | | Well now, that's impressive! I'm guessing that the lights are located at or near Ground Zero? How long are they to be lit or was it for only a short time already? Quite a fitting tribute, simple yet a powerful statement.

| | | They are inspirational but it will be hard to see them turned off after the month is over.

| | | Is there some reason or symbolism behind the length of time they'll be on? I don't know whether or not they'll be turned off, we'll see what may be planned (ceremony-wise) at that time. Might be more appropriate to keep them lit until September 11th, and turn them off at midnight that night, symbolizing the end of a year of mourning.

| | | I don't know if anyone else saw/thought this but their seemed to be some fog around the place above the tops of the World Financial Center, and I imagined the spirits of the people killed rising up to finish the work they began on 9/11 before they finally rested.

| | | I've never been to NYC, but would pollution be a factor in how far you could see it? I know it would in LA (my husband's from CA), but I don't know about the northeast. The photos, however, show it as fairly clear and beautiful. But then again, it could be reflecting off the pollution too, like headlights in fog.
