Some 2003 SFA discussion...

Well I know this is a bit early, oh well! We know where not not getting anything this year besides JJ lap bars and a smoother version of WO if you haven't heard...

This is my belief for 2003 that we will get a B&M stand-up non-clone over 150ft. tall with 5+ inversions and construction will start at fright fest this year... This is my belief and also my dream and it is realistic it could come true. I don't think those 2 new 4-D's for north east will come to SFA(if true) I think it will be at SFGadv. since we allreay have batwing and I don't know what other park possibly SFNE, who knows!

Let's just talk about what we think for now until we get some facts.

Well, it is still really early for much talk about 2003...after all, some parks still haven't opened for the 2002 season yet.

I said it was early, and it's more like guesses that you have? Ideas that you think Six Flags would do?

1) A large ferris wheel will replace the former "enterprise" flat ride
2) A midway area beginning somewhere around JJ will be built and will conclude somewhere between Roar and the Raging Rapids.
3) If #2 is true at least one flat ride will be built along this path as well as several much needed games, food stands, and possibly some new shows. One of these flat rides will almost deffinitly be a TopSpin
4) A coaster for 2003 is almost undisputable. However, it could be as small as a wild mouse or mine train, but could be as large as a B&M stand up or a Arrow 4d. I'd love nothing more than to see a B&M coaster in MD, but at this point in time, I don't know how probable that is.

very true, are park is more thrills and they need more people to come for ore money. SO if they increase things for little people to do like a mine train and shows then more people will come and it will be more proabable for a another good thrill coaster!

Months later, now it is not early for talk of a new coaster because most parks have already planned a coaster... Im hearing something about whiteter spinning ride thing, but don't we already have one of those.. WHat about flat rides coasters, expansion anyine heard anything......

Theres has not been any talk of SFA for a while I am just a bit curious, maybe we will be suprised like we were in 2001 when we got Batwing. I heard there is suppsoed to be an announcement for "something unknown" This month or next month (Jan - Feb)

SFA needs a B&M coaster. A floorless or a standup would definitely fit the park very well. Although it's kind of late, and there have been no announcements or signs of construction. I think they definitely should get another coaster this year though...

SFA is getting a new water ride to replace the Dreadful OD Hopkins model- The new version will be a bit longer, and have a higher capacity with fewer operators required (which at that park is a necessity to have!)

HOWEVER...

The PG County planning commision does currently posess a construction permit request and an elevation differential request from SixFlags Inc. for 2004- which may be the final permission for the Project 37 attraction from the blanket permission done in 1998/1999. The ED request is currently set at 150 ft.- which makes a Standup Beemer a possibility, or a BKF clone also possible (the BKF clone from SFNE would be a perfect, albeit short fit for SFA...)

Firstly, when you say BKF, do you mean BKF from SFWOA or BDK from SFNE? because they're two totally different rides.

Also, I'd be surprised to see a stand-up come to SFA next year. As much as this area lacks a good big B&M stand-up, it doesnt seem like they're very popular anymore, so im not sure if sf is gonna buy one. However, I do think a stand-up like Riddler would do incredible things for the park, but we'll just have to wait and see i guess.

Sorry- BDK from SFNE- SixFlags needs to have more original names than the Batman theming going up the wazoo...

As for the Standup coaster- You may be right- the original Blanket permission/approval from the PG County planning board/Comission had detailed a standup coaster for the park in 2000- the ride which was purchased became the Georgia Scorcher. (Once again, SF buys in bulk, and sends coasters wherever they are needed.)

Sideline to that- SF's BatWing was the PKD flyer that never was taken up- Vekoma, with the twin flyers having been produced, sold the rides to SFInc, and oddly enough, sent the coasters near the parks where the two rides were intended to go- PKDs went to SFA; PKIs went to SFWoA...

SFA has some great rides as it is, I'd be happy enough if SFA got some nice flatrides and just got up to the general standard of themeing for the area (ie PKD, BGW, and HP).

As I understand it from the basis of the planning comissions' files: the park is yet to be completed; eventually, the park will be an elongated oval (where the BatWing entrance road parts from S:ROS will be linked somewhere around/near the river rapids (perhaps behind it?) to allow for future expansion. As much as I'd like to see better theming/more nature added, it doesn't seem to be a high priority on SFA's to-do list (although, the addition of many new garbage cans throughout the park last year was a big relief to the nasty piles that developed throughout the day!)

Wellllll....I love to throw some fuel on THIS fire...

I just got the following artifact in the mail from SFA - it's a media goody given out as a "teaser" for the new 2003 attraction. Look for a final announcement sometime in Mid-Feb:

Sorry for the blurriness...must be all that snow...

Let the discussion continue!

Well, I've heard that SFA may get a spinning rapids ride from Reverchon(I believe that's who makes them, someone correct me if I'm wrong). The "blizzard" might be like Blizzard River at SFKK, which is a decently-themed rapids ride.
