Tokyo Amusment Park

I am on an exchange program in Tokyo, and it turns out my High School is right next to Koyakuyen? Not sure of spelling,, they are the theme park building the 260 foot rollercoaster that will travel ontop of a building and threw a giant ferris wheel. Construction is Coming along nicely, and the rollercoaster looks like a ton of fun. The have most of the construction NOT ON THE BUILDING, done. the ferris wheels circle is 3/4ths of the way complete, and yesterday they where working hard, cranes in motion etc. I will keep you updated on the construction and as soon as I see some testing going on Ill break out a camera.

I can't wait to see how that Ferris Wheel is gonna operate. That's got to be one of the coolest things on a coaster yet: a pass through a Ferris Wheel! How awesome. Okay, it's 262 feet tall, but only goes 80 mph. That means the drop is probably only going to be about 220 ft. I wonder what gives? Is it being built all over buildings and stuff? I like the support work! Supports in Japan are always so intricate because of the earthquake regulations and stuff. There are so many supports and wires and things. It looks so cool! The name's neat too. LaQua!

Ok well yes it is cool. The drop looks great. Its right next to a drop tower ride XD. So great people can stare at eachother on 2 different rides before plumiting to the earth. Any whom. The Rollercoaster does go up on top of a building on the oppisite side of the park, and the comes around off of it, and then back around on top agani. It looks like it will be great becouse I would wasy the building is any where between 150 ft to 200ft tall. So alot of good hills. The ferris wheel is interesting the supports are like in a V shape and ONly on the bottom half of the ferris wheel. I think I can kinda tell how it will work, but not quite sure, I should be getting a digital camera soon and then Ill post pics for all to enjoy.

Actually, Goliath drops 255. Whatever, though. I'm sorta comparing it to Nitro. Nitro drops 215 and goes nearly 80, so my guess is LaQua will drop around 220. It's really tall, but won't drop that far. Could be due to buildings or streets below it, I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem like it's going to drop anywhere near its height.

Well I havent walked in to look just how far the drop goes to the ground, they do have the lift and drop finished by the way. But Id say it is at least 220ft, The park is amazing, and dont totally exspect them to nock off hieght in the drop, this park is built downwards, rides are underground, and on different levels! Dont callange anything the Japanese are building untill its done and you know for sure, anything is possible, they are after all making it go threw a Ferris Wheel!

Update on construction: Ferris wheel is just about complete on the circle, they have a very small section left to fill in before its complete.

The coaster is looking very nice, Im drooling already, The hill looks like it drops to a good steep angle quickly. And they have begun constructing onto of the building.

As for me getting pictures, I am going digatal camera shopping soon, and will hopefully have a camera by the end of september at the latest and then ill be sure to snap a few shots, it looks like itll be great.

Also In october I will be going to Tokyo Disney Land and Tokyo sea, Ill post reviews and pictures on my website when the time comes, And
in DECEMBER, I get to go to FUJIKYU HIGHLANDS! OH I cant wait, Donppo baby yeah. along with the fuji rollercoaster, blah. Ill also post pics and a review on my site when the time comes.

Happy Ridding from Japan!

This is an image from Intamin's website. It shows the completed first hill of LaQua. Sweet. I can't wait to see pictures of this thing going through the Ferris Wheel. Oh, Intamin claims it to be the steepest lift hill in the world at 45.5 degrees. Haha! Okay, I can bet this thing is going to fly into the final brakes. If it's over 260 feet tall and only travels over 3,500 feet, it's going to be insane at the end!

Yes I got my Digital CAMREA! AHAHA. Tommorow I have school so I will snap some shots! Yes The hill looks wonderful, and the brakes are after you come down a hill threw a section of the building! I can sit in my class room and see basically the wholle ride. My bet is that they will be using magnetic braking on this, jsut like melenim force, its the only way I see to slow the ride down at the end smoothly. As for the ferris wheel, it continues to be worked on, I can see where each of the carriges will go. The lift hill doesnt really look that steep, but I think it may just be me, the drop looks like it will be wonderful. Ill get the pics up in a day or 2.

Woah! Check out RCDB! It's got new construction pictures of LaQua. The Ferris Wheel looks awesome and there's this really cool drop down a building. Check out the supports on that thing! Holy cow, this thing is insane! Look at this photo! Okay, so from what I can see, there may be a big drop from the building, and then a tiny bunny hop after it? Or maybe it'll do the bunny hop then the hill up the building? Either way, you're going to get unbelievable airtime there!

That's how you fit a mega coaster into a tiny space. That thing is going to be wild with all those drops and turns (is it only right turns?)
I love the pics!
Oh and i hope you got some good pics coasterchild, i envy you who can watch at a coaster just by looking out of the window at school. ;-)

I wonder how the ride is INSIDE the building.

Coasterchild, I AM SO JEALOUS. And I'm sure that I am not the only one. Not only that you can see a Coaster from your class room (can you pay attention?), no, it's one of the best Coasters in freakin' Japan!

B&M's trains are heavier, so they have less air resistance, so they go faster than Intamins with comparable drop lengths.
