Gardaland and the Screaming Squirrel

According to RCDB, Gardaland in Italy will be getting the first S&S Screaming Squirrel in 2005. Dammit, I want one in the states because that concept just looks plain sick! The ride is yet to be named. Sorry, the computer I'm on doesn't allow me to paste so you'll have to go over to RCDB yourself. Not a whole lot of info is up yet, though.

That's great news to hear, I might be heading over to Italy within the next year. I was planning just to go to Mirabilandia, but maybe I can throw Gardaland in too.

^Strange. Or maybe RCDB doesn't know yet. Maybe it could be taller then the concept model.

Haven't you seen it? It obviously doesn't go upside down, lol, they just tipped the camera over and made everybody gel their hair up so that it sticks up.

This looks awesome. I really want to ride one of these.

Maybe because the ride has no complete inversions. It just jumps upside-down then "re-rights" itself. They don't count Mindbender(SFoG)'s insanely-banked helix as an inversion, so why should they count the drops on the Screaming Squirrel inversions? I can see why they don't count them.

As far as none in the US, don't expect that to stay that way. If nothing else, I think S&S would put one in their FEC that they're building in Utah as a showcase.

"Inversions - the physical number of inversions on a roller coaster. This will be half the number traveled on a shuttle roller coaster with inversions. To counted as an inversion the element must turn rides a full 180° upside-down."

Thats straight from RCDB.

Screaming Squirrel flips you over 180 degrees, am I correct? I think RCDB is breaking its own rule.

It lists 0 inversions probably because the layout hasn't been released yet. Gardaland's SS won't apparently be the same Squirrel S&S has showed in the past.

it'd be perfect for somewhere like SFEG.

Hopefully the Uk will get one, europe is getting so many good rides this year: 1 x-car, a screaming squirrel, first giant swing, sky swatter, Rita (rocket at AT), a custom SLC and a booster bike. I think theres another smaller x-car been built somewhere too.

That would be cool Id rather see a screamin squirrel than a frequent faller but now that the frequent faller isn't happening I dont see hershey getting one.

Hi everybody, now the screaming squirrel has a name, it's called SEQUOIA ADVENTURE! A SEQUOIA is a very old big tree like the one you can see in some parks in noth America!
I know that cause i'm Italian and SEQOUIA is an italian word!

if http://www.rcdb.com/ig470.htm?picture=5 is an inversion or any other inclined loop is, screaming squirrel definitely should have inversions, and an overbanked turn should be too.....

I full heartedly agree that the SS should be considered an inverting coaster. You're frickin' UP-SIDE DOWN! Its an inversion!

People say that it isn't upside down because it goes upside down, but comes back out in the same way, and doesn't complet 360*.

Fine, I'd agree with that under the same logic that top hats like on the chiller and freezes aren't upsidedown either, nor is a cutback like on DF or Space Mountain Paris, because they dont' complete 360* either.

I still hope that future SS models will feature turns like mid layout. Can you imagine having 180 degree hairpin turns while upside down!!! They could do so much with this concept. I hope that it catches on.

is it just me or does this ride look like complete pants?!?! It doesnt do anything....it just goes up, turns you upsidedown a couple of times and its over. I can only imagine it being a very uncomfortable ride just think of the rush to the head you'd get going over the edge.... I hope that no parks in the UK waste their money on one and get a better ride instead

Yes, its...pants. I guess. I do wish that it were longer and higher with more inverted sections, but I'm sure that the feeling of flipping over and under the track will be a unique moment in roller coaster history. And I don't think you'll be upside down for as long as you think. You will be moving at a half-way high rate of speed. Besides that, even if it did hold you upside down forever, that doeasn't mean it will be uncomfortable. Look at the Top Spins and other flat rides that hold you upside down for extended periods of time, people enjoy those pretty well.

as a flat ride its pretty good. it takes up little space, its cheap and probably popular.
