Its now official... No Hyper next year but a massive undertaking by CF to build Wildwater Kingdom. I was really hoping for the hyper, but I think in the grand scheme of things the park really needs this expansion done to have a better flow of traffic through the park and open up some areas for future expansion projects like the illusive hyper. What do you think about the announcement? Offical Announcement here: http://www.geaugalake.com/public/tra...ouncements.cfm |

Geauga Lake is posting more info on their site as of midnight tonight. I am impressed by the great detail that they are showing their patrons of what the master plan is. I am getting excited about this transformation. Here are many construction pics GL has already posted: http://www.geaugalake.com/public/new/2005/photos.cfm And the official press release for Wildwater Kingdom http://www.geaugalake.com/public/new/2005/news.cfm Capital Improvement plan for 2005: http://www.geaugalake.com/public/new...ry&story_id=18 Construction Web Cam http://www.geaugalake.com/public/new/2005/webcam.cfm |

I just got the email from Geauga Lake telling me of the details of it and I was about to post it but you beat me to it. Damn! Oh and be careful with the double posting, the mods have been known to take members out into the back and beat them for that. It seems like a good idea what they're doing. With their other park Cedar Point being so close, I see them trying to go in a total different direction with CP being more of a thrill park and GL being more of a family park. Of course both parks will still have other elements since they both incorporate rides, shows and everything else most major amusement parks have. Another great thing they're doing and possibly out of necessity is lowering the admission by $10. I think that all of these moves should lead them in the right direction.

Is CF attempting to turn this into a THEME park?

No, they've said it already...they're keeping it an AMUSEMENT park. I don't really see how adding a waterpark is an attempt to theme the park. Anyway, I think it's a great idea with what they're doing, especially with moving Hurricane Mountain over to the otehr side. This will give them more room for new rides in that section of the park.

This is a great move--think of the room this frees up on the "ride side" of the park!.

This is a great move. If it's going to reorganize the park to be like CF's Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, PA, it's a a nice move.
