Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom 05' Announcement!

Screamscape.com has posted that on January 25, 2005, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom will make a "BIG" announcement that will blow everyone away!!! I am very excited about this, since it is my home park. I hope it is a new coaster, preferably anything from Intamin or a floorless.

Most likely, Tornado slide. Could be wrong, doubt it.

they have some room in the back behind t2 and the amphetheater. Its basically a big field.

There's already a thread about this and I came up with the idea that it will most likely be a Proslide Tornado.
Look at the facts:
Late announcement meaning a smaller ride that wont take long to build
will BLOW us away, much like a Tornado does
Six Flags has been adding these in a few of their parks recently

It all seems to add up

now that i fixed your post....

i dont see why SF keeps makeing this slide. i have been on SFNEs and SFWWs. SFNES was the first torndaro slide at a SF park.. it has very very long slow lones.. for a very fast slide that is fun.. but not great.. both at sfne and sfww first you wait 15 - 20 mins in line for the tube... then to wait 40 - 50mins on the steps going up the slide... and for what? a side that rocks you back and forth 3 times...

Why not get a master blaster slide. Maybe it's not even gonna be a water slide...

Most likely it'll be a proslide tornado & a possible retheme to hurricane harbor for SFKK's waterpark.

It's pretty much gonna be the same thing at SFA as well although they've got the hints on their site(as well as in the park)worded differently with the phrase "tropical fun warning" & "hurricane forecast for 2005" so we all know what'll be happening there.

Now I wonder if both SFKK & SFA will announce on the same date? both of their projects appear to be roughly the same thing but SFA tends to announce it's plans usually in mid february so we'll have to wait & see what happens.

That isn't necessarily true. For quite a while SFGAdv was known for making there announcement every year (or the year of a big attraction) on February 1st.

However, I'm not arguing with you on whether or not they'll get a Proslide Tornado. I like to hope for other things (like an S&S Screamin' Squirrel or a Zamperla Power Surge) but I know that those kind of things don't have as high of a likelihood of being installed as a Proslide Tornado does.

Well, if the word is true that the announcement is coming on January 25, 2005...

-Top Thrill Dragster @ Cedar Point was announced January 9th
-Batwing @ Six Flags America was announced February 15th
-Superman @ Six Flags America was announced March 15th
-Nitro @ Six Flags Great Adventure was announced February 1st
-Ragin' Cajun @ Six Flags Great America was announced January 17th

Fact is Six Flags likes to announce late in the year and time of announcement has nothing to do with the size of the ride but rather when it is most profitable to announce the ride. Most of the time if the ride is announced late in the year, it has already been underconstruction for a month or so already.

It is not going to be a big rollercoaster. Big as in even "medium-sized" terms. The park just has no space to put in something like that, unless they decide to remove Chang or T2 which is not going to happen anytime soon. It will most likely be a ProSlide Tornado, like many have mentioned above. It's a family water attraction that has proven to be popular at all other Six Flags parks that it has been installed in - plus, that ride won an industry award and is space conscious.

Now that I think about it though, I'm not so sure I see where a ProSlide Tornado can be installed. I can think of only one space, but I'm not entirely sure if that place really exists or is just a figment of my imagination. Does anybody know where they would possibly install this?

The park may be able to expand a little bit too though. I don't think that it will get anything that great, probably the waterslide.

i really dont see how the waterpark can get much bigger unless they move T2 and the wheel and stuff. do you think they could just take all of the waterpark out and make that the park?

Well, from what I see, SFKK is one of those neglected SF parks, so I wont expect anything MAJOR.

Yep, a Tornado clone.

Oh if only they would. That really is a joke of a water park, with no space to expand. Too bad it probably helps them out 'cause it is the only water park in that part of Kentucky. As I've said before, whoever designed this park so that a service road splits it in two, and then decided to stick a water park in the middle of the largest section should be forced to break the continuous coaster marathon record on T2.

Kentucky Kingdom since being flagged in '98:
'98 CCI Dueling Coaster
'99 removal of Vekoma Boomerang
'00 Maurer Sohne wild mouse
'03 used Schwartzkopf Looping Shuttle

Riverside Park since being flagged in '00
'00 Zierer Tivoli-large
'00 SFKK's Vekoma Boomerang
'00 Intamin Mega Coaster
'02 B&M Floorless

Point made? lol. Just thought I would bring that to attention.

Yeah, you have a decent point made with the number of coasters SFNE has, but how many coasters the park had when they bought it isn't there fault. As far as what Six Flags has actually given to the parks? I'd take a B&M Floorless before Twisted Twins, an Intamin Mega Coaster before a Schwartzkopf hand-me-down shuttle (not to take anything away from it though), and I would gladly have Vampire back instead of Roadrunner.

Well, originally, before there was a park, the area was used for the Kentucky fair that traveled. One year, the fair just stayed there, became permanent. Later Six Flags bought the park, a lot more land, and later expanded to make it what it is now. The water park, well, it looks like a very bad idea. I've never been to the park, but is there any land around the park that could be used?

Not really. There is a large plot of land behind T2 and the Batman stunt show, but nobody really seems to know what its for.

I wish the park would replace some of there less popular rides. Just about everybody would like to see T2 receive the blow torch. I personally wish that in the not-too-distant future , they would tear out Twisted Twins. There's not really anything wrong with the ride itself. Its so unpopular though, that they rarely have both coasters open, and rarely is there ever even a line. For how unpopular and thrill-lacking this ride is, It's wasting a huge plot of land that I can see much more useful things going into.

If SFKK wants to expand though, I think they are going to have to start looking at parks like Blackpool and how they've expanded by stacking and intertwining rides.

Sorry, but you are way off there. The Kentucky State Fair operates every summer, but it didn't just "stay after one year". It opened adjacent to the fair and expo center, but it was an entity of it's own seperate from the fair. It opened well before the Kentucky State Fair in 1987, but stuggled and closed until 1989. Then, Ed Hart came along and helped guide the park until the 1998 Six Flags changeover. The waterpark was added in 1992, so it was there well before Six Flags took over. It had plenty of room, but Six Flags had expanded around it and left hardly any room to expand it. The majority of the expanded land was purchased well before Six Flags took it over. You have a lot of facts wrong.

Was a twin ever needed? Usually they are reserved for large parks for capacity and can go down to one side if attendance/mamagement sees fit.

It's not going to be anything major. It's a small park that is being neglected by Six Flags and will be continued to be neglected in the future. The park has one of the weirdest locations of any park I have seen. When they something "big", for them, it willl be big. If this was a bigger SF park, it would just be a new attraction. Since they're a smaller park, this is a big deal. It's all relative. Whenever a small park says they're getting "huge new ride" or "big new attraction", it almost never actually is.

I heard something that I by no means am taking as the honest truth, but it would make sense for them to make a considerable change to the water park with such steep competition from PKI and HW. Just a thought.
