Cedar Point Kiddie Kingdom Construction Begins

Released images from The Point OL (http://www.thepointol.com/kiddielandcon/) clearly show construction is in its pre-stage in kiddie kingdom. At this point it's to hard to tell what it could be, I wouldn't count on a coaster. A kid ride maybe or a Frisbee XL. We'll just have to wait for more updates...

Because the area that is being marked is kinda near Trokia so it could count for being part of the Wicked Twister midway. I'm not saying this is even a ride but I can see how a thrill ride could fit there....

All cyou peeps who have Cedar Point as your homepark would be lucky if this is infact a Frisbee. Trust me, if it is, you won't be dissapointed!

I doubt they would rip out the whole kiddy section for one ride but without doing that I don't see how they would fit in a XL Frisbee. Maybe a regular sized one.

Ok, 50 pics of dots on the ground. Can anyone guage the total size of the area in the photos? Cause ususally blue=water yellow=gas and so one. It could be an outdated sewer line they are replacing or new electrical cabling but needed to map out the area.

Well, I don't see why they wouldn't get rid of that section considering how Camp Snoopy is more up-to-date and is another children's activity area within the park.

Yes, kraxleRIDAH brings up a very good point, since the introduction of Camp Snoopy in 1999, Kiddie Kingdom has become less popular. Kiddie Kingdom year after year grows more of a mechanical nightmare. As much as I favor Cedar Point being a family park I think it's time to see Kiddie Kingdom go. Its out-dated rides and cheesy scenery have gown away from the revolutionizing Cedar Point. I wouldn't mind seeing a thrill ride or even a new children area being constructed, if that's what’s going on. But whatever these dots mean I think given time Cedar Point, if not already, will be facing themselves with a decision to remove Kiddie Kingdom. Like I said before, I'm not saying this is ride construction or not, I'm just bringing up the possibilities.

I know it is old, but then that means half the rides for familys and children. They are always trying to attract them (and they do succeed with that) but ripping out half of the family attractions would hurt that revenue.

But what I guess I am trying to say is that I don't want them to rip that whole section out to add thrilling flats. I would love thrilling flats at Cedar Point but familys need something too. I say they just modernize it. They haven't had much family attractions/rides put in in the last couple of years. But that won't happen it seems.

Well--another thought--they are billing GL as a family park---does this mean that CP will become a thrill seekers paradise? Obviously they will have to keep some kiddie rides to occupy the little snot pickers while the rest of us ride.

I think the Frisbee Xl with a full inversion will be in the place of kiddy kingdom and some of the kiddy kingdom rides will go into camp snoopy.

Cedar Point will not get rid of all of Kiddy Kingdom. They would probably move some rides, or just move the whole thing. I could also see them getting some new kiddie rides. They just all of a sudden woudl make Cedar Point a thrill seekers paradise. They will still expand the park with all different types of rides.

I went through all of the pictures. For every one I went "NO WAY ITS A BLUE DOT!!" and then I went crazy, lol.

Frisbee's dont take up too much room. At PCW Psyclone swings over right the path way and as long as there is enough clerance rides ca go under it. I could see Cedar Point adding a fisbee to that area, and the wouldnt have to move many rides because it could swing over them as long as there is enough clerance.

That would be great to see cedar point get one, but this could be early construction plans for later years also? but i doubt that that would do it this early.

^^ Don't look for an announcement before December 5th as they will probably give Castaway Bay a full month to bask in the spotlight... Whatever they get this year won't take all the light from ** but 2006 will bring news of something Expansive...

That's actually a good why to look at it. I would have to go with you and say the announcement will be in a month maybe a little longer.

I dont see an announcement taking away from Castaway Bay. It's not like they can go ride the construction site instead of go to the hotel...

I think they'll get something small next year, a moderately sized coaster in 2006, and the huge coaster that is overdoing TTD is 2007. The next few years are looking good for both Cedar Point and the whole Cedar Fair chain.

I think it is time for something nice--but we all know something special is just around the corner for 2007 so I can't image it would be anything more than a family coaster and a couple of flats the next couple years.

If CP did add a frisbee, it would certainly take up some room, not so much the ride's footprint, but the queue line. I'm sure the PKI locals on TN know how long lines can get for Delirium. CP would be an even worse case scenario. I'd expect longers lines on a giant frisbee at CP than for Wicked Twister. If CP wanted to add one, some more beach have to be eaten to do it, either that or ditch the aquatic stadium.

It would be pretty cool to see a Huss giant frisbee on the beach. The only problem would be all that sand in your mouth and eyes. Just like in the line for Wicked Twister.

I see with my eyes an area that would be great for a giant topspin themed to something wet and have jets of water spray riders on hot days and on really hot days deflect water to onlookers... Topspins don't need much room and the que can go just about anywhere, look at the "texas twister" (I think that's its name) at GL. A fun ride made funner by height and water. In the Wicket Twister area it could be a great addition...

I'm agreeing with EastCoastn07 on this one. Flat ride next year (frisbee seems likely from the rumors but who knows at this point) in the area where we see the construction now. Then in 2006 I'm gonna say a B&M Floorless or B&M Flyer that will break some sort of record for something (they never build major coasters that aren't record breakers...) and 2007 will be the big year, since it's Kinzel's last year. How about a 500 foot dive machine? If they get a B&M in 2006, well they usually do multi-coaster deals... and i'm sure they want to be the first to get a 500 foot coaster, so why not? heh. Way too early to tell anything at all, this is just my speculation...

but, yeah for next year a flat ride sounds like a good idea for CP. They've built alot of major coasters in the past several years and have done very little in terms of flat rides, and a good flat ride on or near the wicked twister midway will certainly be a good draw for the park. whatever cedar point does, it's ALWAYS good.
