Martin's Fantasy Island adds new twist for 2005 (DEC 2; 5:30 PM) Martin's Fantasy Island, Grand Island, N.Y., announced the purchase of a new Zamperla spinning coaster as part of a $2 million plus capital improvement plan for the 2005 season. This wild mouse type ride will not only provide guests the thrill of the sharp turns and sudden drops of the traditional Wild Mouse, but adds the excitement of a spinning car making each ride unique.

"The addition of this attraction is exciting for our park and enables us to continue to be a top family destination," said park owner Martin DiPietro. "We are sure this ride will be enjoyed by all coaster fans."

The new coaster joins the Silver Comet giving visitors to Martin's Fantasy Island two exciting coaster experiences.

I can see myself making the trip from Toronto to MFI next summer to try this out. I have driven by the park many times, but with only one decent coaster, I was never inclined to go in. Finally, they are rid of the Wildcat (i think thats its name), and installing something that is still rather unique.

So, a new coaster for my home park--PCW's IJ:ST, a new one in MFI...so whats next? One for SFDL? Oh....wait...they don't believe in making significant improvements to that park.............

I drove by MFI yesterday, on my way to and from Buffalo. and I can confirm that the Wildcat coaster has been removed..........
