Official 2005 Geuaga Lake Construction

Well, I just happened to stroll across Geuaga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom website and found that there was an update posted yesturday. It shows the old whale stadium as well as some more ground clearing. As of yet, I see no sign of any slides or water attractions for that matter going up. If you wanna check out the update click the link below.

I think nows the right time to say goodbye to all of your childhood visits to Sea World Ohio because in a few months all of it will be gone.

Has anybody actually heard whether any actual construction has taken place or is it just still dismantling a lot of the stuff that once stood in the wild life section. Geauga Lake's website hasn't been updated since the 13th, and their webcam is always on the same spot so I really don't know what could be going on there right now. They have a lot of work cut out for them within the next 4-5 months and nothing really has taken shape. Does anybody know what's going on?

Well at
www.geaugalaketoday.com , it says this:

"If you have been taking notice of the park's web cam or even the construction pictures you can access on the web cam page, over the past month you may have seen plenty of work going on for the new Wildwater Kingdom. Though we have yet to see any kind of vertical construction, the crews have been busy erasing the memory that was Sea World. Now that much of the snow from our recent storm has melted away, maybe work will progress a bit faster in getting that side of Geauga Lake ready for water park lovers by Memorial Day"

So in the coming weeks we should see something!!

Cleveland weather has not been hospitable towards construction lately.

Well, they've put up a new update from yesturday and it's just deconstruction of the old animal side. It looks like they have a lot to do within the next 4 months...I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make the deadline, but hey, the weather has been pretty bad so maybe things will start picking up as the weather gets nicer. Let's hope they start "building" by next month.

They got that new logo now........

Looks like that of another CF park. So the waterpark will be half of the rest of the park? I think most of the park would be rides, but I haven't read about this too much, so I don't know exactly what is going on in this park.

Basically the entire old animal side or the very old residence of Sea World will be the home to Wild Water Kingdom. This will move the entire water park across the lake and clearing up space where the old one stands behind Steel Venom. The project is in two phase, the second seems to be the biggest which opens in 2006. That's also when the entire project will be finished. The big things going in this year are family oriented stuff like pools. Only one new slide will be making it's way, which is the new Tornado slides. In 2006 they're also putting in a new wavepool and a nice collection of water slides. Hope that helps!

Big update put up on the 14th...They've finally starting taking down the water slides on the opposite side of the park and storing them in the parking lot. They've also put up more pics of demolition, rehab to RWB and beginning construction of Thunder Falls where it will remain in WWK. They also have a few pics of initial excavating for the one pool area they are putting in.

Go check it out and make sure you look at the Webcam because they have put in a lot of pillars for Thunder Falls. Looks like they'll start putting that up within the next couple weeks.

I hate how the webcam is only directed towards the one side...You can't even see if they've started work on Liquid Lightning, Geauga Lake's Tornado. Thunder Falls seems to be the only project they've progressed on so far, I hope they are handling their time wisely because they only have 2 more months till opening day. Other than that the park seems to be doing a good job with the park so far under CF control...I suspect there will be a turn around this year because a lot of things are being changed (2006 will be even better). Let's just hope CF and GL already have a plan to what they are putting into Hurricane Hannah's spot when they completely move the entire water park across the lake.

I can't wait to see some slide pieces going up!

I suggest that everyone go check out the construction going on at Geauga Lake's actual website...http://www.geaugalake.com/public/new/2005/photos.cfm It looks like they have most of the demo done and most of the liquid lightning slide pieces in. They've been updating the site every week so far so I expect there be a lot going on once the footings for the two slide strucutres are done.

Wow, RWB rehab.

That's all for now, there are really dishing these updates out every week so I suggesting checking on the 28th maybe. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing ahead now that they have "most" of the stuff taken down that they need to take down.

Thunderhawk, yellow supports, for the love of God . . . how much of that TTD eyesore yellow paint did Cedar Fair buy??!!! And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that purple gerstlauer the Legend's old single train? If so, HW finally managed to pawn that p.o.s off on some moron driven park.

Just to let everyone know the site has put up a new update with pictures of footings being poured for Splash Landing, Liquid Lightning and Thunder Falls...Also the remodeling of the WWK entrance as well as numerous other changes they are making to the park.

And, as I type this up, they are pouring a very larger footer for Liquid Lightning (The Tornad) on the webcam so if you read this in time go ver to http://www.geaugalake.com/public/new/2005/webcam.cfm and check it out.

It really seems like this construction is going very slow...They've only poured a few footers for Thunder Falls and none for the other slides so I highly doubt they are going to finish this by May. I don't know though, if they speed it up and somehow get it done I'll be very surprised. I just don't think they are going to be able to put two massive slide structures up in a matter of two months when they don't even have footers laid. And let's not forget about the Splash Landing play set, lazy river and all the things they are doing to this park.

And another thing, they have a picture of construction beginning on the lakeside pavilions and I see no speed slides in site. Can someone tell me if they truly have removed those speed slides on the lake with hook lagoon for these pavilions...I'm just wondering how much of a pain it's going to be to go from the wave pool on one side and the slides on the other.
