Cannonball re-tracked and....

Yeah so Canobie Lake has re-tracked the turnaround on Cannonball and changed the turn. Banked it more. And have also put a new paint job on the trains.

Q&A with James-
  • Do you know why they did this?
  • Did the turn have good laterals on the little banked turn?
  • If so, will this reduce the laterals?
  • Did guests complain about this part of the coaster?
  • Did the train ever roll-back on that part of the ride?
  • When are they going to paint the track white again?
  • Are you disapointed with this?

I wonder why they didn't do this a while ago if the turn was under banked.

I bed the laterals were fun now that I know it had some...

Well the ride is from the 1930s... So they "had" a lot of time to change it.. They just didnt till now.
The park has said they wont paint the ride this year... So all the new wood will have the "new wood" look to it and the rest of the ride will be still painted white. (I think they said they will paint in at the end of the 05 season.)

No... It cant look as bad as Riveside Cyclone at SFNE.. SF has re-tracked 5-6 places and never re-painted it.. and then where the made the first drop shorter... they let the old track under it...

(you can see the old drop under the new drop in that photo)

Dropping out of the turn around.

The turn.

In the last photo you can see how few people were REALLY in thge park...all of 20 cars (mines the one in the blue box)

Wow...the parking lot is empty. I bet that was fun having the park basically all to yourself.

Is the coaster any smoother than it used to be with the new tracked sections?

it was one of the best days I ever had at the park. They closed at 4pm but I still got to do more then I would in a full day in say july..
It was cool going down a midway and not seeing ONE PERSON!

and yeah the turn is super smooth now and has a bit of a dip in it. I dont like it more or less then before. But it does feel different then before.
