Speed Monster, TusenFryd, Intamin Accelerator Coaster, 2006

Yes, you read right. Another Intamin Accelerator Coaster! :-D

Well, atleast i'm allmust sure it's a Intamin Accelerator Coaster that TusenFryd in Norway are going to get next year.

They are going to make the announcement tomorrow at 11,30 AM(local time), in the park.
But i have talked to one of my friends that lives close to the park, i think, and hi are going to the park tomorrow for the announcement, and hi will send me a sms and a picture of the artwork/picture of the new coaster, if they will release that, but i'm preatty sure they will, when they have just announced it.
I can't wait to see it and hear about it.

The construction has started on it, so it's gonna be a large coaster, as i also think it will be. Atleast larger than Kanonen.
But it is just some tree-removing and some markers right now, so nothing special as of yet. There are some pictures of it below:

The two first are of a big sign they are working on.

The construction site.

Two of the markers.

I will post the picture and info on it as soon as i get it tomorrow...

Nice pics NICKTHERIDE. Are you going to be following the construction and are you going to the announcement tomorrow as stated on SCREAMSCAPE.

2006 - Launched Coaster - Rumor - (7/5/05) One of our European sources tell us that the invitations were sent out to the announcement for the 2006 attraction which will take place on July 7th. They say that the invitations has a few checked flag graphics on it, which would fit right in with the rumors about adding a Rocket coaster. They say that this will be the park’s biggest investment since the park opened in 1988.
(4/14/05) The park may be planning on adding their next large attraction in 2006 that is rumored to possibly be some kind of small scale launched coaster.

If the coaster is indeed named "Ragnarokk", it indicates that it will have a viking theme of some sorts. Ragnarokk meant judgement day for the vikings. But I can't see how that will mix with checkered flags and a racing theme...

I guess we'll see tomorrow.

No, I'm not going to the park tomorrow as I live in Denmark, and Tusenfryd is in Norway, so. :-( But one of me friends that live i Norway and about 30 mins from the park, are going to the park tomorrow. But I think that hi will follow the construction. But I'm not sure on that. And thank you so much for the awesome contruction and general photos of SheiKra, Johnny! They are the best pictures i have seen of a coaster. :-D

I never knew about this park, but it has one of the Vekoma wooden coasters. Looks much better than the ones in Holland and Belgium.

Can't wait to hear about the theme for this next European Rocket.

Ragnarok was the word the vikings used when they talked about the end of the world, or judgement day.

I hope they use this as a theme instead of the same old racing theme as every other rocket out there.

So, it has now been officially announced...

It's called ''Speed Monster'' and not ''Ragnarok'' as is was rumored.

It is a intamin accelerator, and here are the stats that I know as of yet:

Length: 690 meters

Drop: 40 meters

Speed: 0-90 km/t in 2,2 seconds

Elements: 1 Immelman and dobble corkscrew

Colers: Blue track and grey supports

And have a racing theme... Again...

There will be a photo update on http://www.coasterdb.rct3x.co.uk/index.htm later today, so check back on the site...

700 pph??? are they wanting people to wait three hours, plus the breakdown time??? that is insanely stupid, unless they got a launch that NEVER breaksdown, but even then, 12 people per train, that is retarded.

Well considering this is the parks largest expansion since 1988, I don't think too many people visit there, It looks more like a kiddy park, so lines for the big rides shouldn't be that big of a problem.

This ride looks pretty sweet too, finally another original rocket coaster with inversions.

Thanks for the info NICKTHERIDE. Looks great, a small size launch coaster with some inversions and a couple bunny hops. Its great to see more regular sized launch coasters getting designed. I believe that larger taller faster is not allways better.

NICKTHERIDE reason I asked about the photos above. If needed I can host photos on mysite or keep track of them. ( I allways like to offer) because alot of people take photos but alot dont have the ability to put photos on a website and I have extra space in my domain so I like to offer.

It may be small, but it's not a kiddy park, at least it doesn't aim to be.

Anyway, I'm really excited about this coaster. The first loop/dive looks insane! I'm happy that they have the guts to expand and invest. I hope it pays off.

The launch speeds for Speed Monster and Kannonen make TTD's launch look like the Light Speed Launch into space.

Now, we are talking... :-D

It has infact only one corkscrew, and the first ''corkscrew'' is really a S-curve...

And check out that first element after the launch. Is that just an awesome element, or what? :-D

And check out the TTD-like trains, which is really cool...

Can't wait to ride it next year now...

That first element looks amazing. It is a cross between a vertical loop, and immleman, and a dive loop. They are all just crammed into one element.

Nice pictures. In the first three pictures the track looks to be red. In all of the other pictures it seems to be blue and the renderings show it as being blue. Is that just the lighting or is some of the track red?
