I was there for hersheypark in the dark last night and here are my findings, all over the area right after you get in the gate there are a BUNCH of pink flags all over. Also construction marks near the claw by the old arena and a fence blocking view of the old arena..on the backside of the old arena,(the area where the claw is near) there were cones, blue tarps and bulldozers and stuff there, i couldn't really see but it looks like the plowed portions of the wall? Also in the pamphlet it said we are keeping you in the dark about hersheys new ride with a red lazer going through the middle and also claimed they are announcing the new attraction October 25th. Here are some nice construction pictures at hersheyparkonline.com in the TR thread there, sorry for no link.

anyone check out screamscape resently? well incase u havent they claim to have inside info about the new dark ride. saying that hp will be having the Sally Corp. do a one of a kind dark ride with as many as 3 drops inclueding a 10 footer at the very end. also 2 "score keepers" will be sent as well which will announce the score at exacely half way threw. also riders will be shooting lazers at targets to obtain points. so basically its kinda just like the MIB ride at Universal except this has 3 drops and score keepers and is sapose to be one of a kind

I'm loving that double post...

I bet 3 quarters of the people on this site read Screamscape so you don't really need to give info from there. Anyways, the ride sounds pretty cool. Hopefully it will have the theming MIB has.

I'm loving the fact that it was two days apart and therefore acceptable...

Anyways, only a few days till the announcement (if everything goes like I've heard). I can't wait to actually hear what it is.

The shooting part of the ride makes it hard to fit the nascar theme. I guess we'll just have to wait for a few more days.

could be some sort of nascar ride with shooting. like you have to shoot targets in order to get the car going faster. n yeah that was a freakin awesome double post wasnt it.

Announced:
Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge
http://www.hersheypa.com/attractions...eme/index.html
Quote:
It’s time to settle the score once and for all! We’re calling all REESE'S lovers to HERSHEYPARK in 2006 to compete in head-to-head, multi-sensory laser competition!

REESE'S XTREME CUP CHALLENGE is the first interactive dark ride to pit car against car in a high-energy score-fest that is unequalled anywhere in the world. Two vehicles with competing teams travel through a series of exciting competition zones featuring REESE'S-branded extreme sports events.

Hang onto your laser blasters and take aim at the targets as you swoop, climb, and dip through the action. Accumulate as many points for your team as you can – the winning car will be declared at the end of the challenge, and a sweet reward awaits all who play!

Ride it, Smell it, Play it, Taste it, Win it!

REESE'S XTREME CUP CHALLENGE - ONLY AT HERSHEYPARK!

Sounds pretty cool actually, I'm guessing the prize is chocolate.
I love the idea of having different sports represented in the ride, but does anybody know what Spelunking is?

They also list the ride as being the first car-to-car interactive dark ride...but wouldn't that be MiB at USF?

WTF?!? "Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge"
...and the "Lame name of the year" award goes to....

The Concept sounds interesting, it will be tough to pull off, but man oh man that name is a doozy!

*Edit / Spelunking is exploring caves.

Heh, it's a pretty cool name if you like really bad puns.

This is a really good addition, IMHO. It'll appeal to most any age group in any weather condition. Any word on if this will be a year-round attraction like Chocolate World and the 3D theater? It sounds like it's going to be roughly on the entrance/Chocolate World side of the park.

Sounds good. It is very different. Not what I expected but it is good. It does not really mention any drops or coaster element. I would have liked to see that but we can't always get what we want. It is perfect for Hershet park. It appeals to all age groups fits the park perfectly.

^It does say dip through the action. Maybe that means there will be a small drop. Anyway, the ride sounds great. The name is really lame, but free chocolate just for going on the ride is "sweet". Say hello to the single riders line. Hopefully it will be as good as MIB.

I'm going to assume that the skydiving portion might have a bit of a drop.

Actually if you watch the animation video it shows skydivers floating in the air that you shoot at along with the skateboarders. Just click on the left side where it says Penut vs Choclate take a video tour. . Anyway looks like a good family and group ride where everybody is in on the fun.

Am i the only one who thinks this is kindof dumb. Why are you shooting sky divers or skateborders, i dont get when the idea of shooting things are, The scenery and props look too simple, i hope its JUST a 3-D rendering and not what that scenerys going to look like.

no i highly doubt this ride with be open when hershey is closed because its in the park and they arent gonna let people walk through founders circle down to this particular ride just to ride it. it sounds pretty interesting and im hoping its better than the animation.

This new attraction name actually works because in Hershey with what they do with chocolate they could get away with it. Visitors to Hershey that find it a charming getaway will understand. The name incites family and Hersheypark is truly a family park. If you may not understand, I guess you may not have been to Hershey yet.

They could always use an other entrence by the parking lot but i agree I don't think that it will be a year round thing. Hersey I think needed this ..now i ha something to do on a rainy weekend at hersheypark.

I hope the video is not like the actual ride. They looked they were just cardboard cutouts.

Hersheypark is reputable. I would now discount them in this new project.
