Hersheypark

Construction has begun in Hersheypark for a ride for next season. Rumors are that it's going to be a dark ride.

I really wish they would put in another coaster there. The ones they have are great, but even storm runner left me feeling like they need taller roller coaster there

So far all that is a removed attraction, the skating rink. I did not know it existed before but we do know it's near the arena and the removed GIANT Wheel.

That'd be the construction photos. Technically, it's not a removed attraction, since it's actually outside the park gate, and it's not part of the park. I think screamscape just put it in a category for the sake of doing so, although it really should be under the 2006 category.

Does anyone have any hint of to what this new ride might be. I know it is probably a dark ride, but anyone know what kind or what it is about.

Also, are we even sure if they are building a ride for next year. Since technically that rink was outside the park, maybe they took it down for another reason. Who knows?

I know what the dark ride is about...... It's an interactive ride. Your mission is to find the bad chocolates and shoot them so they don't get shipped out.

I wish Hershey would get a new coaster. There newest is Stormrunner and while I do like it it's time for something new. Maybe a Flyer?

They're also tearing down the Rides Office and First Aid, which is right in front of the Rink, but inside Park gates.

Here is a teaser from the park. A dark ride fits the teaser. http://www.screamscape.com/html/hers...k_-_2006_0.htm

In my local newspaper there was an article that derry township rejected hersheys 2007 plans of building 2 pools, 2 play structures and fountains and all these water activitys in midway america with the removal of frog hopper and another unconfirmed ride, this was in my paper so I am not feeding lies here.

He isnt lying. It was in my paper too, which I think is the same paper. But these were 2007 rides, so wont matter with what this year's ride will be. Here is the link.

I, personally, am glad that they cancelled these plans. Hersheypark needs to add a coaster in 2007, IMO. Unless, they were adding a coaster in addition to these rides.

Who knows?

yes that is a confirmed fact that the township did reject the preliminary proposal however I wouldnt count on Hersheypark giving up so soon with 2 years left. In regards to the rumored dark ride, all the rumors that im am getting from a source at the park is telling me that rumors keep coming up about a LIM Dark Ride. now obviously they didnt quite say it in those words but what they did say is that "it will be a indoor coaster quite similar to that of Space Mountain at disney." now this is not from any higher up or any of that kind of thing but im just simply stating some of the rumors flying around the park itself.

A LIM Dark Ride with a portion similar to Space Mountain. That sounds a lot like a fairly accurate description of Revenge of The Mummy (Except Mummy has lots of positive g's and airtime). Unless Hersheypark can come up with a good idea, then make it look all nice with heavy theming, I don't really think this could work. But, maybe I'm wrong...

Yea, it is nice that they are getting a new ride. When is their 100th anniversary? Is it this upcoming year or the one after it?

The 100th anniversary would be in 2007.

An indoor LIM coaster would be awesome. I have a feeling Hershey would be able to pull off a great theme for it. (well as long as it's not racing themed I'll most likely be happy)

Yeah, they should have made that Frequent Faller. I mean, $4,000,000 isn't that much compared to all the other coasters they have, besides, they would have gotten a very unique ride, and they don't need 2 more boring kiddy rides.

Normally it's the boring kiddy rides that create a larger draw of crowds. I know that at Worlds of Fun last year with the Peanuts Playhouuse that families were coming in every time I was there just for that.

Yea, a coaster would be more fun for the older people but most of the crowd is families with children, hey it sucks, but that's life!

plus i wouldnt spend 4 million dollars on that ride. its not really THAT exciting if you think about it. plus hershey probably already had their budget set around only spending 2 million on the 05 attraction

I heard from one of my friends who said he talked to someone who is pretty high in Hershey Entertainment and there apparently aren't any plans to build anything in the old skating rink right now but that was in August so their plans may have changed. If they haven't, I don't really know where they could put in a dark ride unless they put it in the arena which I know has been a rumor ever since they built the Giant Center. The only other place in the park I see them having enough space is in the field behind the Wild Mouse where people used to sit for the laser show.

the dark ride is deffinately going where the old skating rink is because that is the only place where construction has started. there is no way hershey could start on anything this late. and nothing is ever going into the old arena because it was built in the 20's for one another they still use it for smaller ice skating events and highschool bball and if they ever thought about doing anything to it they would need to have it accepted by the township and there is no way the township of derry would let them do it.
