Sdc & Cc 2006

The parks have finally spoken...
SDC is getting 10 rides from Zamperla as part of the new section The Grand Exposition

CC is adding three new shows and a new attraction.

White Water has not announced it they are adding anything for next season as of yet, but it looks like it will be another exciting season of fun at HFEC parks this coming year.

Ok, so looking at their announcement, SDC is getting:
a pirate ship
a Disk'O
a wave swinger
tea cups
a "regatta" ride
a family/ kiddie coaster
and something that looks a bit like a kangaroo jumping ride.

Looks like a nice little mix of rides there, and several that I'm sure will be big hits.

For CC, I'm not sure I would call the Lego activity center a new "attraction" per se, but more a nice building center where mom and dad can take a break while the kids play a bit. The shows look interesting. We really liked the VeggieTales show that was at SDC last year, so it's nice to see that coming back to another park.

Looks a lot like what Dollywood got this year. Except for the pirate ship. I can't believe they are still making those!

Here's the press release.

Man this park is in such dire need of flats, too bad these ones aren't that good. Maybe the other two will be great flats.

Um, these are great flat rides and they will be much appreciated. The other two you are speaking of are kiddie rides.

I myself wouldnt call a disko great as I hated the one I rode (and I rode it more then once) But it will be great for the park as they dont have ANY flats! SDC was one of the best new for me parks i went to in 2005 and now with this big add on I really want to go back. Maybe in 07... Or when they get that woodie

Thanks. We actually had received them awhile ago, but had to wait for the official announcement to put them online.

Whats the difference between a disk-o and a mega disk-o?

These aren't my ideal "Spin-and-Puke" flats is what I meant. I was hoping they would get a frisbee, tops spin, enterprise, chaos, or something else like that. These are better than nothing though.

Well considering this is a ZAMPERLA ride package, I'm not sure why you are so surprised.

Frisbee (Huss/Chance) TopSpin (Huss) Chaos (Chance)

From what I understand, the Mega Disk-O is a larger version and seats more people.

I disagree with people that are saying disk-o's aren't fun.

The one at dollywood was a lot of fun to me. But like coasters, everyone has their opinion.

And I get to ride it (hopefully) again next Sat

Disk-Os are "Awkward" to ride and I think that is where a lot people get the notion that they are not "fun."

I think I would like the Disk-Os better if they didn't have those horrible back retraints. Otherwise, I thought the one at Cypress Gardens was pretty good.

I am so glad SDC is finally getting some flats. The coasters are fun there but I went when all the kids went back to school and the park was literally empty. I wish there were some flats because powder keg broke down and all I was riding was WF TNT and FIH. It got pretty boring but I did enjoy marathoning WF.

^Amazing enough there is MORE TO DO at Silver Dollar City than just RIDES. The have some of the best entertainment offered at any park in the US (ESPECIALLY NOW @ Chirstmas Time).

Cool

I have to say I like the color scheme on SDC's Waver Swinger better than Dollywood's. I think DW Wave Swinger almost looks tacky. Too bad the park didn't buy one of the classic Zierier ones instead - Can't you just imagine the beautiful murals on it depicting scenes in the Smoky Mountains?

I really like the direction that the Herschend parks are heading. The Grand Exposition looks like it will greatly compliment the 1800s theme of Silver Dollar City without too much of a shock, plus all the attention to detail is no less than Disney quality.

I feel all these expansions are proving that HFE is a force to be reckoned with in the amusement industry. I would love to see the company expand all across the United States, as it would be a sharp contrast/alternative to Six Flags, Paramount, Cedar Fair etc.

It will be interesting to see where Silver Dollar City heads from here.

Man, CC could not have chosen worse movies for their new attraction. Hopnestly, Agent Cody Banks? You're kidding.

SDC is going to have a great 2006 season.

They had to go with movies that the could get. This isn't a productions studio based park afterall. But you also have to remember that these are movies that kids can relate to.

Grand Exposition construction is underway now http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/silver/expo/120605/ at Silver Dollar City

It being so close to the highway is really scary. Initially I knew it would be close, but I didn't think it was *this* close. I hope they do something to block it and pipe some loud music in the area to block the noise.

I was looking at an aerial view of the park on the new Microsoft-local thing and with all the land around the park, and as far out as the train goes, why did they decide to expand in this area?

Convenience and the fact they have plans for that area. Remember that Coaster Con will be held here in 2009.
