yeah it does. And there was soooooo much drama in K-land. My friend is stuck in K-land for another summer cause she didn't want to transfer. She said she don't like talkin in the mic's out at the big rides so she's staying in k-land lol. i told her she would get use to it. Oh well.

How do you know that? Did you work at Kennywood? You could say that about any position.

Congratulations, though. You sound really excited. Jack Rabbit should be a fun ride to operate. I've heard operating classics is a blast.

At first i didn't like talking into the mics either but i got over that after my first or 2nd week. It's really nothing.

Most big coasters you don't really have to talk. They have automatic spiels. You really have to talk every now and then to tell people to get off the rails.

I like kiddieland I am not one for big speeches and I had to give a rather long tour spiel back at SFNE on the old mono. I am glad you got the ride you wanted because it can make for a long day if you don't like a particular ride. Have fun!

(In 1950's talk, black & white movie) Narrator: "The Kennywood employee is gay to be working not in Kiddieland but at the Racer and Jack Rabbit.(shows worker manually operating coaster brakes. The Cleaver Family smiles getting off the coaster.)"

Just a random thought.

Any TNer getting to work a rollercoaster is pretty cool.

Question

Well I work for (PKD) I been this my 4th year, I wanted to know did you have to stay in kiddie land when you first started off?

I know when I 1st started the ride managers asked us to pick a ride and I did just that. I picked a major rollercoaster, there is no way I can picture myself in kiddie land lol , I love talking on the mic and dealing with Guest issues at that ride lol=]

well yeah but i got to extra at a couple rides if they needed help throughout the season and i put my name on the transfer list like the 2nd week the park opened but they never transfered me, so i just extra'd as many times as i could to get out of k-land. There was like 30 people on the transfer list from k-land thats why they didn't transfer me.

Kiddieland isn't that bad if you have the right attitude about it. Of course any ride is like that, I guess. Maybe my problem is that i like kids! lol

i don't like kids. I think they are cute and funny at times but when i have to pick up 20 kids breakin my back chasing them all around, strapping them in only to find that 3 other kids had jumped out to find another color seat, yelling at the parents to stop opening the gate and letting 30 more kids on without me saying it's ok, Bad kids that don't want to get off the ride so you have to literally pull the kids off, etc..... i don't like them. Kiddieland made me not want to have kids at all. Too much work. It was like a vacation when i would go and extra out in the big park. What they do out there is not considered work to me. It's nothin compared to K-land. Thats why i am sooooo happy i transfered. All i'll be doing is sitting half the time on controlls or walking back and forth to check lap bars. and at the jack rabbit i don't even have to touch the bar cause they slide into the seat. All i gotta do is look to see if they buckeled their seat belt. Thats NOTHIN.

I know the feeling PGH, I worked in Kiddieland some last year and lets say it was less then fun. Especially when the kids press the sirens the entire ride. But the good thing my park does is have a large section of rides and moves your around on them all day. So you may be at Flying Elephants for a few hours, but then you'll get to operate the Wildcat coaster later in the day. By the end of a full day you could have operated 6 or more different rides.

As for saying ride speechs, I love em, especially on coasters. I'll try and pump the train full of energy before they leave and have them go crazy when they return. And I hope my park never goes to automated recordings like some of the bigger parks have done....but thats for another topic.

in k-land we rotate every 45 minutes. out in the big park they rotate every 30 minutes. i don't see how you can be at 1 ride for a COUPLE hours. Thats torture. I hated it when people started rotation even 5 minutes late or when people took too long to rotate. usually if someone else was with me at my ride, i would start the rotation cause i can't stand waiting. there are 14 kiddieland rides but it's split in half (front and back) i was usually in the front most of the year. Thats the worst part. There's not many trees in the front so the sun is beatin on you all day. The rides in the front can seat way more than the back rides. And thats the first place people go to. I would be happy when i worked in the back cause it was nice and cool back there and there are not as many seats on the rides. I'm glad there ain't nosirens on any rides cause i would go crazy lol.

I'm so glad that my ride has the automated speech because I would not want to talk on the mic every time a train parks into the station. It's already bad enough we say "All Clear" and tell people to hop off the hand rails, and rarely I tell people stop smoking in line. Well then again I do get annoyed of the automated spiel the guest be repeating it ugh! I hate it but its better than talking every 2 mins=]

oh really. I gotta go up there on the 22nd for training at the racer/jackrabbit. I alreay know how to run the racer, I learned last summer. All i gotta do is learn the rabbit and i'm done. And how to close each ride. Thats basically it. Kiddieland is super easy. Most of the rides are all the same. (safety, deadman, start) you'll understand when you get there. If your in the front the ride everyone hates is the Mini-E (well there's a new name now but thats what everyone will probably still call it). Its the helicopter/spaceship ride. And if your in the back the lil phantom is the worse ride to run cause it's super hot there. The pounce bounce in the front is also really hot. Everyone hates working in the front so if you get kiddieland back don't trade with no one. Theres way more trees back there and not as many seats on each ride. So basically it's a lot easier in the back. I worked in the front and it was HELL!! lol i would work in the back sometimes if they needed an extra person back there.
