| | | Worst situation ever! As an employee have you ever had a situition at the park that was to the extreme? Last season when I was working at volcano it was a Saturday as we all know for most parks Saturday are extremely busy.
And I mean very busy N-E-wayz every saturday my ride goes down because we run three train mode. Something about the sensors they always shut down on three train mode anyways. I had to close the line down. O yea my ride went down 5 times so the ride manager said shut it down completely so maintenance could fix it then re-open back up. As you know people come to the park for two thing Hypersonic and Volcano. We all know Hypersonic breaks down alot, so we are recieving alot of guest complaits about that people yelling at me as if I own the park and I shut it down. Anyways Avalance shuts down to so, thats 2 rides in congo shut down, then I hear Anaconda shut down like 20 mins after avalance shutes down.
Then I hear Flight of Fear shuts down because a bat was in the building. THE ENTIRE CONGO AREA WAS DOWN! ON A SATURDAY! well scrambler was open but who cares about that lol. While I was still at volcano line anwering guest questions and complaits. O yea one guy said" WHY YOU HAVE MAJOR ATTRACTIONS SHUT DOWN ON A DAY LIKE THIS" and another was "I CAME ALL THE WAY FROM OHIO TO RIDE VOLCANO!" seriosly I thought we were going to have a riot and that day was ver hot to. Well share your stories lol |

| | | Don't really have anything major. I have had afew people complain about a coaster being down but they were calm and was ok about it opening up in a few min to a few hours or even closed the rest of the day.
I guess the worst guest i ever had to deal with was in 1999 when a guest complained for about 20 min saying he was going to sit down on Vortex (a stand up coaster) and unless we lest him sit he was going to sue.
Anyway we called security and after about 15 min he left the ride but the funny thing is he came back about 2 hours later and rode... Standing up.

| | | The only major thing that happened to me last year was when chiller saddled in the zero-g roll. About 45 minutes after that the entire park lost power and failed to regain it. The park was shut down 4 hours before closing.
I deal with guest complaints all the time. I get used to it and it doesnt bother me anymore. I just laugh about it later.

| | | I don't understand what you mean by saddled...
Complaints: Worst I got when Management decided to run our line through instead of shutting the ride completely down. I don't remember why but maintenance needed the ride down for a couple hours before close but didn't have to be immediate. We were still running with the riders in our line, but not letting in anyone else. People were PISSED.
Scary: I was at entrance and two guys came up to me, one helping the other walk. Both of them sat down on the cement ledge by the sign. The one guy started having a seizure. I called First Aid. When I turned around, he had fallen forward and was on the ground motionless. My memory is kinda fuzzy after that, but he ended up being ok. |

| | | well it's already the beginning of the season and me and my crew already got someone kicked out the park. LOOOOONG STORY.They were just being real rude so when we called public safety they came to our ride and we gave them a description of the people and they took one of us with them so we can ID them. Well when they found the people, the one guy got up in the cops face so they had to wrestle him down to the ground handcuff him lol. I was crackin up when i heard that happened. I can already tell this is gonna be a crazy year. All the guy had to do was shut his mouth and we would have let him go but he had to talk back. lol Then their girlfriends threatened to jump as at the end of the day. I was crackin up. I knew nothin was gonna happen lol.

| | | I have had guests attack me after they get drunk during Howl-O-Scream. Then Montu hit the block and we had a solid trouble and it rolled back and valleyed in the batwing...

| | | Well it tends to involve a lot of machanics and a wench...depends on all kinds of things... Ride Op's do not do it...Then they pull it up to a breaking point or to a high point and let it finish its cycle...
It's the best way to explain it to you man...Hope it helped...

| | | Has been cussed out by a guest.. twice.. and i had a similar power failure situation at Alpengeist.. but i was actually a sweeper when it happened.. the night before Alpengeist had gotten struck by lightning.. and all morning they were trying to make it run on a generator.. so most of us were doing crowd control (which is awesome in my opinion because i'm one of those few that love to talk about anything and everything).. and there was this one guy that kept asking how long how long how long... and all of us were like.. " a few hours.. come back later.. " and so i left to go on my break about five hours into the shut down.. and the guy actually came up to me and told me that none of us said it was going to be that long
funny thing is.. alpie was up and running within the next 15 mins

It involves much more than just a wrench though...unless the ride is equipped with a heavy-duty winch that can pull the ride up, there are generally two ways to get the ride to a high point.
1) Get a heavy-duty tow-truck in to pull the ride to an appropriate point.
2) Get a large number of well-built people who are willing to do something slightly silly and push the train to a high point.
The second one is mainly for wooden coasters though... |

Also, I never knew that Montu has valleyed before. It sounds like something Sheik may have possible made up. |

| | | ^^ No, Sheik did not make it up. In all honestly, I tend to doubt that there is a coaster out there that hasn't valleyed at some point. It's actually not all that unusual of an occurance. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
There are several different ways of dealing with them, depending on the park and the coaster. A winch or a crane might be used to move the train to a high point if there is a good one available. The train might be disassembled and then moved to the transfer track (though that's usually a last resort as it's the most difficult method). Rarely, it might be pushed, but that's the most dangerous way of dealing with it. Or other methods may be used to tow or pull the train into a spot where it can finish the course or move it through safely.
It changes from place to place and coaster to coaster.
