Your First Ride...

What will be, or what was your first ride for the 2005 season? Mine of course was the Jack Rabbit. During training last week I rode it like 20 times in a row. What about you guys.

My first ride of 2005 was New Mexico Rattler. It did not disappoint.

Well I haven't got to ride anything yet, but the first ride I trained on this year was the Dare Devils (kiddie motorcycle ride). Hopefully I can get some rides on either DownTime or Boulder Dash before the season starts.

Nothing yet. I want my first ride to be J2 at Clementon Park, but really, it'll be whatever I train on first.

I live in Florida and as a member of the florida coaster club, I will let our motto speak for itself.

"We Ride All Year"

However to answer the question, technically...my first ride of the year was Montu @ BGT.

Well, that is a very good question. I guess my first ride of the 2005 season will be Magnum XL-200. I attempted to do a marathon last season but then things distracted my pursuit. This summer, though, I am going to ride like the wind and as many times I can handle it.

However, my first coaster was Thunderbolt at Kennywood 15 years ago but the one at Cedar point was (of course for you Chip ), Raptor! .

I don't think anybody has called the Mini-E the right name yet. Not even the new guys.

Hellevator...they didn't have a team leader that night and needed someone to run breaks. Since then I have now been certified on about 35 rides.

My First Ride

My theme park career began over a month ago on a Friday night on the Eruption (S&S Thrillshot) at Frontier City, the tallest thrill ride in Oklahoma. Normally, I would be working the milder family rides (area one), but on my first day on the job the park was open for high school groups, so the staffing was shifted more towards the major rides and thrill rides and I was moved to the Eruption for the night.

I was the loader and my co-operater Jennifer was working the panel. I was trained by both of the area five leads as the loader at the start of the evening and left me to the ride after I was officially certified to operate. It took me the better part of the first hour to get the handle in the operating the ride and thankfully my co-operator was extremely helpful in getting me used to the cycles; she very much helped me fit right in. After the first hour, I felt as comfortable as if I had done this a long time.

The best part of operating the Eruption, especially as a loader, was the interaction with the guests waiting in line and on the ride; I think that alone would have made it very worthwhile. It goes down as one of the memorable nights of my life and perhaps the best night in recent years. Although I'm stationed in area one, I shall look forward to many more times I'll hopefully be spending on the ride that started it all for me.

We're going to try to hit Indiana Beach before Coastermania. In fact, we're looking to go this weekend. As long as I go to IB first, there's no question what I will ride first- Cornball Express. Gotta make sure they didn't screw it up when they retracked it over the winter.

If I don't get to IB before Coastermania, then MF or TTD will be first.

Also, I can't wait to try out MaxAir
