If there's no line I dont care how many times you ride.
When it comes to inforcing the rules, I inforce some. Height restrictions i inforce. we have a system at the racer. If we can put our pointer finger on top of the childs head and the height stick stops on the front half of our finger we usually let them on. But if we can put our whole hand on their head, and the stick can still swing over it, they cant ride. a lot of the height sticks around the park are not the same size so i do believe when people say they road the bumper cars why cant they ride this. We would get kids with a stamp on their hand saying they were 46 inches and when we measure them at our ride, they weren't. The things people do to get their kid on a ride cracks me up. Carrying your child is the worse thing to do cause that makes the kid stand out and we really check them. Squeezing the child between 2 adults is also another way to get caught. lol i usually seek out the small one before they even get to the front of the line so im ready to stop them.

| | | ^ That's not very safe or fair... people have different sized hands...
I mean, in the long run, the chances of less than half an inch actually affecting the child's safety are slim, but if you want an effective height restriction rule, everyone has to go by exactly what the sign says.

| | | ^ The reason we do that is because the height stick at the front gates where people get their childs hand stamped sayin how tall they are is a little shorter than our height stick. We would get kids all the time with their hand stamped sayin they are 46" and according to our stick they were like 45" but we gotta let them on cause they have the stamp. yeah people have different size hands, but our crew doesn't really have people with really big hands. And everytime a child is really close and we tell them no, they want us to call our supervisors, and most of the time our supervisors let them on even when we said they cant. (they have the final say cause their our boss) thats why we have that little system. We really shouldnt even have a height problem because in the beginning of the line our height stick is an inch heigher than what it should be. so if a parent actually measures their child and see that they are too small, they wont get in line. But that never happens. we always get the parent that claims they didnt see the height stick. trust me, a finger wont make a difference on the racer. the racer is 46" and the jack rabbit is 36". In my opinion the jack rabbit is worse because the child is actually flying out of their seat on the double dip. The racer isnt that bad.

| | | If only people would read the material that the park prints in it's park maps, we really wouldn't have much of a problem with rules. Another thing that people could do is go to Park Operations and get their child officially measured. Every time I come across a child that is too short I send them to Park Operations, so that they can give the family other options to consider. |

Unless it's a line jumper, I don't care if I'm on or off duty, you jump those people who were waiting for an hour, you should get in trouble. I believe I even stopped some line jumpers when I worked at Geauga Lake and was visiting Cedar Point..lol, then I ended up working there too...
There's been a few times, when I did really get mean. One time when I was off duty, there were these kids waiting in line for the waterslides at Geauga Lake, and they cut everyone to go to the front of the line. When I asked them what they were doing, they said getting a better look. I knew they were line jumping though. There was a whole bunch of people in front of me, and I told them they'd have to wait in the back of the line just like everyone else did. When they started getting mouthy I said either you wait in the back of the line or I'll have the operators call security and have you removed from the park. They said I couldn't do that, I showed them my ID proving I worked there, and said wanna try me now. I looked at them and said if you can't follow the rules like everyone else, then you shouldn't be here.
And when I was working at Cedar Point, my friend Mike and I got cut back, and were in line for the Millenium Force. Well a group of guys get out of line, go smoke a cigarrett, by some food, and get back in where they had been standing before they left. I was like "What are you doing, get to the back of the line." They were like we've been here the whole time, we just went to smoke, and get food. I said you're line jumping and it's against the rules, either you move to the back of the line or I have someone remove you, and you'll be removed from the park. Mike was trying to help too. Since we were by one of those phones, Mike and I got out of line, called security and described those guys to them. Then since we got out of line, we showed a good example and went to the back of the line. Needless to say I think those guys had a little present waiting for them when they got up to the station.
I just really really really despise line jumpers.

Reminds me when I was in line for a ride with a fellow employee a few years ago. Someone linejumped us, so go tell the Freeway pass guy who was halfway in the line. He tells the linejumper to get to the back of the line. The linejumper gets all pissed off and starts swearing at us, and the fellow employee snapped a picture right in his face when he walked by us to exit the line. It was funny and hell, I'll never forget that. Quote:

| | | Hahahahaha :-)
That would annoy me. Its so much more fun to say "we are currently experiencing technical difficulties" and see the guest's reaction.

| | | Nothing says guest complaint like mobs of people going to park op like they have torches and pitch forks.
I've worked with a few people that were good at that. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
