| | | Ever have the whole park shut down? Well, I am a lifeguard at Six Flags White Water, and today was an interesting day. It rained all morning, and its still raining. When we closed, I didn't have any person go on any of the slides all day. We only have 15 guests in the whole park, until we closed at 11:30. Ever have any days that slow? And my supervisor told me that on Mon, they only had 23 guests in the park when they closed early b/c of weather. |

| | | Yesterday, although I was off that day, we had severe thunderstorms that went over the area sometime in the evening that produced non-stop torrential downpours for quite a while. Because of that, Frontier City halted operations and as a result closed the park three hours earlier than our normal 10 PM closing.

If there is no end in sight the park will usually close for the day.

| | | When I worked at Riverside the park would close early but not because of the weather. It was because of such poor attendance from the bad weather. I think if five thousand people where in the park it would have had to been a severe alert before they closed down. Now like it was said earlier on when it was miserable they would close a little early.

| | | It has never happened when I worked at Clementon Park, then again my first day was Monday, lol. But my friend worked last Saturday and Sunday and he said they closed the park at 4 because of severe thunderstorms and the low attendance. |

| | | Hold on, I think what he means is, the park did not have plans to close because of the weather, we'll say rain, but maybe people started leaving because it was raining, so they had to close because they were losing money. If that makes any more sense..lol |

| | The only time I remember Cedar Point shutting down was when someone hit a switch that turned off 50 million people's homes. That sucked...lol. They shut the park down at 7:30pm I think for the safety of the guests and about 40 minutes later, the power came back on and has stayed on ever since (well almost, ).

| | | I have seen Frontier Town shut down early the day we got the remnants of Katrina, mainly due to the fact that it was raining so hard none of the rides were open with the exception of CP&LE and there were probably no more than 100 guests left in the park. They shut down the shops and food service locations around 5:00, although guests could still walk through.
I started the day as the break person for ride photo, so I got to make the rounds to all 7 ride photo locations in the rain. While I was at Magnum it shut down for what ended up being the rest of the night. I got sent back to Mantis to do the last break and then went back to Millennium. We were running 2 train operation and with as little as 4 people to a train. It was the same 15 people or so that just kept riding. The funny thing was that Millennium and Mantis were the only "big" rides running. Go figure, Millennium running in bad weather and not Magnum.
Anyway they sent home everyone else from ride photo so I got to spend the last 2+ hours and then close both Millennium and Mantis by myself. I don't think I had a single sale after like 6:00 so it made for a VERY long night. |

| | | ^Same here. I think it was that same day. It was raining and thundering like crazy, and the creek was about 1 foot away from overflowing. We worked for like an hour, completely soaked, a complete waste of time. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
