Awards/Recognition

Does your park have recognition/award systems for it's workers? If so, have you gotten one? In the Cedar Fair parks there is the Cornerstone system, if you show that you are a good worker they will give it to you. We get pins that we wear on our uniforms if we get the cornerstones. I just got the cornerstones recently.

I only have one cornerstone in the Cedar Fair system . But I guess that's good for a first year employee.

^150 hours for 6 tickets? I have to work 600 hours to get 6 tickets for SFKK. I received an "Executive Employee of the Month" award and an expired movie ticket, but oh well.

At SFFT we have comp tickets after so many hours. New hires get less than rehires. *incentive to come back every season, i guess*
And then we have the big Service Superstar program where someone who thinks you're the best of the best employees nominates you for Service Superstar and then your full-time supervisors pick you. I got Service Superstar last season as a Team Member. I'm a lead now and leads hardly ever get it. Heh. Ah, well.

At Universal Studios, the rides department had the "Golden Clicker Awards" every year. Basically it was an excuse for us to get dressed up and make idiots out of ourselves. Each ride was allowed to make a 10 minute video about anything. Usually the spieling attractions (Kong, Quake, Jaws and Hitchcock) and the supervisors were the only ones who did videos. I guess we made idiots out of ourselves so much at work, we had no problems doing it for everyone to see at the awards ceremony. One year at Kong we did a take off of the Jim Carrey movie "The Cable Guy", with one of our employees dreaming about an evil cable box that every channel was showing movie spoofs hosted by Beetlejuice. At Quake one year we did a spoof montage based around "Dude, Where's My Car?" (replace car with train, of course) and including bits of "Gone in 60 Seconds" (stealing ECVs from in front of rides at the park) and "Charlie's Angels". Jaws did a music video for "All The Jaws Things" ("All The Small Things" by Blink 182), with lyrics rewritten to poke fun at all the other attractions. We had a huge rivalry between Kong, Quake and Jaws that kinda reminded me of HS rivalries. The Clicker awards were voted on by the employees and included stuff like "Best Sweeper" and "Most Likely to be UO President in 10 Years". It was a blast.

The park also had different "service programs" throughout the seasons. One summer we got cards if we were caught doing any of the 6 "service standards", then we turned those in for entries in a raffle where they gave away stuff from DVDs and movie tickets to vacations. If you worked on Thanksgiving or Christmas, you got a free turkey dinner (with *ALL* the fixins ... and most of us went to the other grills around the park and ate more than once and took some home with us ... it was REALLY good), and they even gave away turkeys a few years so you didn't have to buy one at the store. What was I gonna do with a 12 pound turkey?!? I'd be eating that thing for 6 months! If you didn't want yours, you could donate it to the homeless shelter and they'd use them for their Christmas dinners.

When I worked there, you got 2 free pass every quarter when you started. After 1 year, you got another pass. Once you became a full-time employee, you got another one. I was up to 6 passes every 3 months at one point!
