Here is a company that makes computer systems for amusement rides. Namely B&M and GCI.

Intresting site. Thanks for the link.

I had no idea the control panel for Vortex @ Carowinds was updated in 2000.

Hey I had no idea taking a picture of a control panel was not allowed. I have quite a few. Mostly by accident when a pal snapped the picture or I for someone else thats what I was standing next to so there it was in the picture. Is this a safety issue of late part of the patriot act. Just kidding, or is it some copyright law from the manufacturer. This makes me wonder cause one of my pals was an engineer and from him I have a large callender of Allen-Bradley control panel products in my rec-room/storage area. This is to advertise what they manufacture. I can't imagine this being top-secret. Unless they are afraid of the competition. However making up this large wall callender spells it out quite clearly.

You'd be surprised. A fair share of ride control panels get wet when it rains, depending on their location.

In the spirit of intamin, I guess I'll post Storm Runner's big brother

Now thats just pretty. It's amazing how many buttons there are when we only use the ones in the green section. Red every so often.

What a horrible place to put the phone. I wonder how many times the E-Stop is hit by accident when picking or hanging up the phone.

Thanks for the pics.

Hey I like the Pepsi in the first pic. Thats authentic. The pic with that very large control panel that looks scary to me. I never operated anything with half the number of buttons that had.

It is amazing to me, how some rides that seem relatively simple, can have about 30 buttons. These machines are so much more complex than most people realize, and some rides are even coming with touchscreens, and pcs with the controls.

I don't recall any rules at CP about taking photos of the controls. The thing there is not to take pictures in uniform in front of guests. I took several photos of places not seen by the general public, including control panels, and I don't believe it was a problem. I have several photos of the inside of the electrical shed of Thunder Canyon where the controls are used to start the pumps. Once pumps are started, you do the rest from the control tower. I don't know how to post photos though, so I can't share them with you all.

see most people think that control panels look really complex but they really aren't. Most of the colorfull things are just lights that light up when the trains hit a censor or if something is wrong a certain light will light up or lights for other reasons. And there are buttons that dont need to be pushed, they are there for a different reason. Most of the time theres probaboy only 2 or 3 buttons that actually operate the ride, the rest are just there.

Top Gun has about that many buttons. Just ignor about 70% of those. You only need to worry about the ones in the green area.

In this picture what does the orange button that says "Restriants are in the Minimum Position for Largest Guest" Do? Is it a warning or does it actually do something?

It's for the ride ops to verify that they have properly checked each restraint, each ride op that checks the train has to press that button before the trains can be dispatched.

I have plenty of photos and diagrams from my park - but - LOL @ the fanboys that think they'll ever see them!

Yeah guests aren't allowed to see that kind of stuff - except rides like Scrambler where its out in the open. Its a need to know thing - and they don't need to know.
