| | As I wrote in another thread-
Ok Here is how it works at PC. On South Carolina side you have to be 16 to work rides, coaster or not ( ie. check lap bars, assign seats, controls, everything.) And there are coasters that 16 year olds run- Thunder Road, Runway Reptar ect. On North Carolina side you have to be 18 to do anything. And with TL (supervisor) positions you have to be 18 and that doesnt matter what side your own. |

| | | ^ Welcome to our world. The two Carolinas always have different laws and such.
If they did that though someone would probably complain that the SC law allows them to run a ride.
I also find it strange that they would allow a 16 year old to run a coaster... a flat, not so much.

Larger flats, not so much.

| | | Thats what happens when you build a park between two states and both with such different laws. I do agree that a 16yo should not be able to run a coaster.

| | | I think a 16yr is more dangerous behind the wheel of a car than working a rollercoaster. I see no problem in it.
I'm working for year number 4 at Cedar Point.

I agree.
Really, i don't think age should be the determining factor (of course there has to be some kind of guideline), considering I've seen many 18+ year olds have a maturity level less of a 16 year old. I'd imagine most parks would have a certification-training process, that once completed, a 16 year old would be more than capable of running ANY ride.
FYI, at Sfgadv you can operate ANY ride in the park at 16. In my previous 5 years of experience there, the last 4 on a supervisory level, I never once felt uneasy about a 16 year old op-ing a certain ride. If they were able to go through their department training, pass a basic rides knowledge test with a 90% or higher, and then pass a test for EVERY position he or she is working with a 90% or higher, then I am comfortable with that person - regardless of age. |

| | | Im goin back to Kennywood for my 3rd summer...hopefully to the Phantom/Pitt Fall crew. If not then i dont know where i will be, because they split up the racer/rabbit crew. Now the racer is with the sky coaster and paddle boats and the rabbit is with the MGR,Paratrooper, and kangaroo's. So if im not at the phantom i hope im on the racer crew.

| | | O god not this topic again.... I think that 16 year olds are capable of runing coasters, if they are mature enough. I think that some of the 16 year olds on my crew were more mature than the 18 year olds.
Can we get back on topic... |

Can we get back on topic... | Yes, but they can't make exceptions. They can't just go "oh, he's 16 but he seems mature enough... lets let him operate a coaster."
Anyways, right now I'm in the Disney College Program... 1st time. I might return to Cedar Point again this summer, but I havent decided yet if I will or not.
