Question What's your park's process for becoming a operator?

I'm currently a Asst. Foreman @ SFOG. When an attendant wants to become an in-charge we have to take 2 essay test; one for general in-charge knowledge, another for in-charge knowledge pertaining to the ride. After passing we take a operator essay test pertaining to our location. Do you guys do something similiar?

no, Kennywood just hires u to a department, rather it be rides,games,foods,etc...if ur in rides, everyone is a operator/attendent/what ever. we rotate every 30 minutes between all the positions on the specific rides that we have. We dont have to take any tests. Just go to training the last two weekends in April. The only ride i think u need to take a test for is the skycoaster thats it. But everyone in rides do have to complete a checklist (verbal questionaire), make sure we know everything about the ride, but its not really a test because if u dont know something the manager just tells us right then and there.

It seems like not a real lot has changed. When I started each season our superviser trained us on each ride. We then sat and took the certification text for that ride required 100%. This then would be put into the file at the ride operations office. This training took place about a two weeks before the park opened. Each person was trained for an area or ride group. Example seven rides were in my area. Also some parkwide training concerning fire safety and a brief course of water safety if there was any kind of water ride in your area. Oh we also had a large exam on ride safety and guest relations etc. That one took a couple of hours. Every operater sat for that one.

At Clementon Park, we have to attend training sessions. We have to be trained on a ride at least once before we can be certified. Once trained, you come back on a certification day and become certified. You're required to say the spiels as well as operate the ride and walk around and inspect as if people were actually on it. If you do all that right your certified. Apparently, this year we may have to take test. The rides manager says certifications are gonna be a tad harder this year...
