| Training
My training starts tomorrow....im kinda excited, kinda not. Im not really in the mood to train, i just wanna see who is all on the crew. Since i already know the racer, and the Paddle boats are common sense, all i gotta learn is the skycoaster. Anyone else start training soon? If ur park hasnt opened yet...

The two parks I work at is open year round, so we can start training anytime. :: Insert big smerk here :: P.S. I dont know how I can pay bills through winter if I only worked in the summer time. Thats why I work for parks in Florida.

I start my skycoaster training soon too and I'm going for Site Controller so I've been reading that 250+ page manual over and over. Can't wait to start training on each spot, lol. And then their is the test, which I have heard is no cake walk.

we didnt get our manuals yet...well the newbies probably did during their orientation, but im a returning TM so we dont get ours till we go to training...that sucks! lol I dont feel like reading a 250 page manual thats gonna be hell! and it's about time for finals in school, so thats just one more thing i dont wanna have to worry about. But i guess i have to do it. im glad i dont have to learn the racer too....thats a weight off my shoulders. i feel kinda bad for the newbies, learning the skycoaster is already hard enough, then they gotta learn the racer as well. the people that worked at the skycoaster in past years only have to learn the racer so thats good for them. this should be interesting though.

yeah, but once u get the hang of it, its second nature. The racer is easy, so there shouldnt be a problem with that one. they arent gonna start trainin on that till next week. All we learned today since we were rained out, was how to harness people up. we were suppose to actually fly today but it started to pour down. we were only there for 2 hours. Tomorrow its suppose to rain too so i doubt we will be flying. Oh well, maybe next week. I did get that huge manual though, i didnt start to read it yet. I will tonight.

we actually got to ride the skycoaster today. It was sooo fun lol. We got to test out the new ride as well (Swing Shot) I chickened out lol. It looks real fun but i know i would get sick on it. The ride itself sounds sooo funny. It sounds like a dragon lol or a monster breathing really hard and really loud. If i would have know that it was gonna make a noise like that, i would have submitted dragonfly as one of the names for the Name the ride contest. People probably have. But like i said, it looks really fun, just not for me.

MAKE SURE you read the whole manual.. the site controller test will cover alot of things that will more then likely not be covered by your trainer, but it will be in the manual. The Site controller test is a hard one, the hardest test i've ever taken for a ride.. i've been a site controller since 2001 (when we got the skycoaster at sfkk).. good luck and i hope you get a good sky coaster represenitive at your park to certify people.

yeah i read probably half the manual so far. There are a lot of terms i dont understand. this is the only ride in the park where we have to take a test. i really dont think its THAT serious, but we gotta do it. The skycoaster is a lot more complicated then i expected. i'll probably be starting at the racer everyday lol. Its sooo much easier and i love workin the racer.

From what I've heard, the skycoaster is a lot more serious than the other rides, and the test is given to make sure you are entirely capable of operating the ride. I don't understand why they don't have tests for all the rides. I mean most of you have a manual you are given at the beginning of the season right? Like at my park, we're given 2 manuals, one all about the park's rules and nice information, and another about the specific rides in your area. I believe they should give a test in the middle of the season just to see how much information about the park/rides you have retained.

the only reason why i dont think its that serious is because even if we fail the test we are still allowed to work at that ride and do all of the positions. We just wont be a site controler. most people that work there dont pass the test but they still know what they are doing when it comes to physically doing the work. we do get 2 chances to take the test so thats good.

I start training @ SFA next week when I finally get home from college. I'm incredibly excited. I need to call them up sometime this week though to find out when I can train though, because they stop having scheduled days before I get back... I'm mostly excited to see where they'll have me working.
