For a TON of info on the college program, check out http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com

RidePhoto101, rent is steep compared to Cedar Point, but on the College Program you get fully furnished apartments (couch, chairs, dining table, fridge, stove, microwae, dishwasher, dressers, pots, pans, glasses, plates, silverware, etc) and all utilities (power, cable, DSL internet, water) are included in the rent which never changes week-to-week.

I started a thread about it.

Oh and by the way, guess who was not on the training list for Tower?

Well, I'm actually an Entertainment Cast Member on the College Program (doing a full-year) and haven't seen him (by looking at his myspace).

And yes, I do perform in Parade and Shows. I do enjoy boucing and being quite clumsy and goofy at times.

I'm no longer in Entertainment. I could only stand about 1 1/2 weeks. It's just too darn hot and the people in ent are crazy, You would not be able to get away with half the stuff they do at Carowinds. I am now working at Kilimanjaro Safaris for a while and maybe i'll go back to Ent after a few years once it gets better (If it does). I'll just bounce around from attraction to attraction now.

I figured i would do the Safari for about 4-5 months then maybe go to Everest for a few months then ToT or Haunted Mansion. I need to move to another park that stays open later to get more hours.

Don't worry... You'll see me on that training schedule in a few months. I'm about to sign up for some Cross U classes. Maybe. I might just to Haunted Mansion since MK stays open later.

Dude, Cross-U will NOT get you on Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, or any of the highly desired rides. It only gives you a shot at the really UNDER-staffed rides. You're not fooling me, or anyone. I know how WDW's employment system works. It is FAR more complicated to get moved to rides you want than "I'm in entertainment but I want to work on Tower of Terror! Train me there LOL!!"" or "Hey I want to be cross-trained on EVERY cool ride LOL!!""

AND you have to work in one location for at least 6 months before transferring. If you really ARE currently on Safaris, then you would only be able to cross-train at attractions NEAR Safaris. And if I'm not mistaken, you have to wait 6 months before you can even cross-train to another attraction. You might have a slim shot at being cross-trained on Everest since its in the same park. Very slim. But as far as being cross-trained at other rides in other parks? Especially the highly requested ones? Sorry, not gonna happen.

^It's all on the Cast Portal and in your CM handbooks and contracts

Also, Cross-U is mainly a program to get salaried (i.e. managers and up) on the "front-lines" when needed, and like Raptor said, that's ONLY when and where they are needed. For example, around the Christmas/New Years rush in 2004, Pooh's Thotful Shop had a WDI CM on Cross-U stocking shelves (and only stocking), something that requires no additional training what-so-ever.

That being said, you can still pick up extra hours on the Cast Portal (look for Extra Hours Hotline), or by calling the extra hours hotline. Just looks for shifts that either require no special training, or requires training you all ready have. You will NOT recieve special training just for signing up for a shift somewhere. In other words, you must be trained for that role PRIOR to signing up for the extra hours.

Also, the only way entertainment (like any job anywhere) gets better is if you stick with it, if you do go back to it, chances are you'll be starting pretty much where you left off, if not lower.

Actually, some attractions you can pick up hours even if you aren't trained. You'll be put into the Greeter Position, as well as Fastpass and the such if they attraction has them.

^Yep, all done through the Extra Hours Hotline. However, it's usually pretty rare to see that as they try to get trained CM's first (for normal rotations), and resort to untrained CM's only if they have to.

Well, the point is, don't sit there and brag about how you're gonna get trained on all these rides like you're some kind of God, when you don't even know how to go about doing it... let alone the fact that you wouldn't be able to get trained on them anyway.

No, you CLEARLY stated that you were trained on Everest and were about to get trained on several different rides. You just changed your story because I called you out on it. ... and thats why you want the thread closed, too. Hmm...

You were just trying to make everyone on here jealous, or something.

The internet is a great place to exaggerate things, like Counter-Strike skills.

No but really, this thread has fallen into a more "personal" hell hole that is kinda putting a few people in wierd situations. I'm not going to close it because it provides a lot of great information for those looking to work at Disney, but I'm just going to ask that if we're gonna make claims as to where we work, what we do, make sure you aren't boasting or exaggerating, cause in this case, we had someone to actually find out the truth.

I'm very happy you're excited to work at Disneyland Carowinds 73-03, and its great that you are telling us all about it. But please, just make sure you give us the real story, we won't think differently, and those who do...well I will e-slap them in the face.

Overall...lets be happy tree friends!

Rule #1 of working at different parks...

Never assume it'll be like any other park, even if they're in the same chain. For instance, I did a lot of stuff @ Michigan's Adventure I never could've done @ Cedar Point (not bad... just a lot of stuff in general). Both parks are part of Cedar Fair!

It also pays to read the employee handbooks and contracts... there is a lot of stuff that isn't mentioned in any training for the park as well as the ride(s) you work on. CoasterJunkie proved that point very well.

Today's Acronym of the day...

RTFM
