NFL '09 11/15/09 Week

Wow, the Bears gave up 5 interceptions on Thursday against the Niners? I already thought to next week Philadelphia against Bears and I can't even call that still given the Bears beat Philly the last two years. I still don't know what to expect 11/22.

Pittsburgh and Cincinnati today at 1. Wow that's big. Patriots-Colts later. I agree with the announcers recalling just how bad they were a decade ago but look at those juggernauts now. I want the Pats to win.

EAGLES at San Diego. I wish I had vacation time still and could go to see my sister, now in San Diego. In the 90's when I started to watch MNF I loved Qualcomm even if it was one of those ugly last generation cookie cutters. I want to get there. I'm glad San Diego beat the Giants last week. What do I expect out of my team this week? I know they can't really come back in the 4th quarters. The youth offensive attack is what we have to ride. I think the defense misses a dominating, veteran name like Brian Dawkins who's now in Denver.

Cincinnati WON in Pittsburgh, taking BOTH games of the season series against them AND Baltimore. Wow. I was wondering where Cincy went the last two seasons. Jacksonville beat the Jets. Tennessee woke up and won. Liking the 41 points. St. Louis gave New Orleans a fight. The Saints won. My team: they lost to the Chargers. My father and I were yelling at Philly to run the ball more. Those first two field goals could have been TD's if we ran the ball. I'm getting tired of the same old story of not running the ball, penalties. Penalties are killing us. Green Bay beat Dallas - Nice. The Giants had a Bye. The NFC East is NOT the best NFC division clearly.

Carolina - Congrats. I hope they go at least 8-8, as long as it doesn't involve my team.

The Flyers had a nice solid win versus the Ottawa Senators 5-1. Emery played against his former team. Bring this versus the Devils. Danny Briere is back.

NCAA football Week 11

Yeah, we've skipped a few weeks, but the discussions continue. In Week 10, we saw Ohio State upset Penn State, Florida beat Vandy with a not-so-spectacular score, USC barely handle ASU, and Cincinnati beat UConn by 2. Navy beat Notre Dame for the second time in three years.

My teams both won. Georgia Tech pulled off a gutsy play to beat Wake Forest in OT, and Arizona destroyed Washington State.

For Week 12, Georgia Tech can clench a trip to the ACC title game with a win over Duke. No. 2 Texas plays Baylor. No. 10 Ohio State takes on No. 15 Iowa, who recently got its first loss. This game could decide the Big Ten. USC takes on Stanford (thanks, Andrew), which is ranked for the first time since 2001.

The season's winding down. Will we see an Alabama-Texas championship or Florida-Alabama? What will happen?

NFL '09 11/8/09 Week

Baltimore-Cincinnati, Miami-New England.
Pittsburgh-Denver though Denver just lost a game finally.
The Giants were told by their coach they have a one game season before the bye against San Diego today.
Houston - Indy. Jimmy, if you're going to be up there the Texans have to throw some rocks against the Colts and get this done. I'm definitely not taking the route that your guys can't do it. A least a season split with Indy.
Chicago - Cards. Beat those Cards Bears. The team that beat the EAGLES the last two seasons, give me an idea what's coming.

Philadelphia hosts the hated, hated Dallas tonight.

That sucked, the Dallas-EAGLES game. We could hear it in his voice: they brought a ref from Dallas it seemed. I was so busy I didn't catch Donovan's two turnovers. There were a couple 3rd and inches we didn't get. There was a bad spot. We lost all our challenges. At least Coughlin was right about his call. I think I still hate the Cowboys more than the Yankees but it's close. The Giants last week, wow, lots brewing recently.

Cleveland might be successful in their bye week.

eagles and DALLAS, GIANTS and Chargers & Baltimore and BENGALS all look to be good games.

Regarding the pickem league. Thanks to all that are participating. The competition is very tight this year. The "Don't bother signing up for next year" award goes to Scotty's Slammers.

We are a week into the season and already the Celtics capture headlines all across the sports world for:
a) their perfect week with the most wins of any team at this point 4-0, and
b) their move, upgrading Rondo's contract by another half-decade and $55 million.

Many question that move by Boston saying he is overpaid, but Celtics fans insist that his talent justifies the contract and are confident he is worth that kind of money.

Denver and Orlando are other undefeated teams in the first week going 3-0. Cleveland after a slow start, has gathered themselves to pull even.

NFL '09 11/1/09 Week

The heated NFC East rivalries light up this week. The Philadelphia EAGLES host the Giants. Brian Westbrook would likely not play because he suffered a concussion on Monday Night versus Washington. The game got bumped down to 1pm because of the later Game 4 of the World Series also in South Philly with the Phillies and Yankees playing. What a hot bed of activity that will take place in South Philly Sunday.

The Vikings and Packers square off in a 4pm game. Denver and Baltmore go at it. Miami-Jets. Atlanta and New Orleans. It'll be quiet in Pittsburgh as they have a Bye. Come on Carolina versus Arizona.

2009 MLB World Series

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees will meet in the 2009 World Series. The games will begin Wednesday in New York. During the 2009 MLB All Star Game the American League won, thus getting homefield advantage for this World Series. Cliff Lee will surely be the Game One starter for the Phillies.

NFL '09 10/25/09 Week

The Falcons play the Cowboys. This is probably the only game where I want the Falcons to win.

After the EAGLES fell flat on their face last week they face the Redskins Monday Night. If it wasn't for the Phillies taking the spotlight going to the World Series in town that would be much more magnified.

The Steelers finally came alive in the 2nd Half and beat Minnesota. Miami shocked us all in the other manner that is. They had a 21 point lead blow to the Saints. Amazing. Reggie Bush flew like Superman in that one play. I'm satisfied the Cardinals took one from the Giants.

The EAGLES won 27-17. Why didn't they do this last week? Washington had 4 turnovers, yum. The Birds scored at least 13 points off that. I can't believe with all those big names on offense: Randle El, Moss, Portis, they are so lousy. That coach needs to be fired. Philly's Desean Jackson - Wow, what a receiver.

NBA '09 October

Looks like the NBA is going to start in just a little bit. The expectations for the young 76ers are not too high. They are easily the last major team of concern in Philadelphia this season. They went back to the retro logo. I hope they are at least 2nd place in the Eastern Division. I am kind of bored about hearing of the preseason so I think I'm ready to roll.
