Giovanola is NOT dead!

It turns out, there are two companies named Giovanola in the thrill ride buisness. Giovanola S.A. Amusement Rides Worldwide located in Arlington texas, the rumored Giovanola to go under, and GIOVANOLA Frères SA located in Monthey Switzerland, the company that made Goliath and titan. GFSA sells it's products through other manufacturers, such as Intamin, untill recently when they started working with the final customer. The Giovanola we want is staying and according to them, they are not going anywhere soon. They even say if a company wants to work with them, to go ahead and contact them.

I'm so happy they are staying and have not stopped making roller coasters. I can't wait for a vertical drop coaster in the U.S.

I can't remember where I read this, it was yesterday. If anyone has a link it would be greatly apreciated.

Hector 07-29-2001 10:13 PM

Oh yeah, www.giovanola.ch is the website for GFSA. Don't have one for GSAAR.

Honan Beetch 07-29-2001 10:15 PM

So you're saying they didn't quit making coasters yet? What's their next coaster going to be? That's awesome!

DyingDutchman 07-29-2001 10:16 PM

wow cool. two thumbs up for noticing that! where do u find this stuff? lol

Aaron 07-30-2001 12:14 AM

PHEW! I am SO glad that we'll probably see more Giovanola coasters. Goliath was AWESOME! Hopefully, park chains other then Six Flags will start building them.

serpent king 07-30-2001 12:47 AM

yeah...giovanolas first giga is goin to BGT :)

may the FORCE be with you 07-30-2001 01:01 AM

What a surprise, like a company making 15 million a pop each year would really go out of business.

antfarm007 07-30-2001 08:59 AM

What a surprise, but if you look at the names, I think one is a subsidary of the other, but only time will tell, the one in Austin is like a world headquarters type deal i believe

Medusa1861 07-30-2001 10:20 AM

Nice job i would neverhad found that out even if i tried because if i couldn't believe that they went out of buisness

KoasterKing 07-30-2001 10:32 AM

good to know goliath and titan are awesome

Coalhouse 07-30-2001 11:01 AM

When I looked at the page I couldn't find any coasters. I only found steel and manufacturing stuff. Do they design them or only build them?

Dr.Bruce Banner 07-30-2001 01:10 PM

Im really Glad that they are not gone because Both Goliath And Titan Are Unbeleiveable rides. And i sure hope to see more like them in the future

edh101985 07-30-2001 01:11 PM

Me to, mabe SFOG will get a clone of one of those rides.

Giovanola is dead. This is confirmed my the director of maintnence at Six Flags Over Texas. Just last week Titan was closed and B&M was contracted out to modify the ride. Giovanola has gone bankrupt and most of the engineers are going to B&M and Intamin. I know this because i still keep in touch with the engineer who was the head project manager of Titan and Goliath.

PaulD 07-30-2001 05:24 PM

LOL MotionMan - Didnt you just read anything, There are 2 Companies with the Giovanola name, and its the other one which went bankrupt, The One that made Titan and Goliath are still very much alive in Business, This was also confirmed on thispagecannotbedisplayed a while ago with an E-mail from the Giovanola company that went bankrupt and they explained the confusion.
Also how can B&M modify a Ride that they had no part in, I find this Crap, Also nothing was modified on the Ride, and it was'nt closed at all last week, I know it got stuck at the Top I heard 1-2 weeks back, But it was only for a day and then it re-opened. So Stop talking Crap, I dont care if some engineer has told you that, they dont know everything you know.

Trust Me Giovanola are NOT Dead(Not the Company that made Titan and Goliath anyway) You will soon be seeing more Great Coasters from them soon, Just you Watch

Well lets see. Titan was shutdown last week from friday the 20th to wed. the 25. During that period of time a gentlemen from B&M worked with the maintnence staff to modify the ride by putting an extra brake on the Block brake so that it can slowly pulse the train into the centrifuge. More info about this can be found at www.sfotcoasternet.com on the message boards. Also B&M does work on other rides. In fact they were contracted to work on Mr. Freeze in last years off season.
Next Giovanola SA Amusement Rides Worldride the company that built Titan and Goliath<--- I'm looking at the business card as i write. Is located in Monthey, Switzerland. To conclude every Lead mechanic i know has said something about Giovanola going out of business and that they are worried about what will happen to the ride as the years go on. Then just last week they said B&M will take care of us.

antfarm007 07-31-2001 08:51 AM

Giovanola is dead, my bet is that the one that won't go under is a subsidary of the one that is, its all in the name, the one in texas is just like a headquarters for switzerland

Hector 07-31-2001 08:09 PM

You know, I'm beginnig to think that maybe Giovanola IS dead. Again I can't take credit for this I saw it on a website and just relayed the info unto to you people. I'm digging around now and hope to get an answer soon.

Hector 08-03-2001 07:51 PM

I told you I would dig around some more and I found the letter. Not the place I originally found it but it's the same one none the less. Here's a link to the article. It's on COASTERnet, it's at the bottom.

Hector 08-16-2001 11:44 PM

So I made a little mistake. On COASTERnet, go to the news and rumors section and it's on the bottom.

AJRNWO316 08-17-2001 12:29 AM

I wonder if Great Adventure would ever build a giovanola coaster.

Kyle L 08-17-2001 07:31 PM

I emailed em about school and they talked about carreers theyre mostly talking about metal working!

Richard Wilson 08-17-2001 08:17 PM

I find it amazingly hard to believe that a company that has built three rides, probably all over at least 20 mil can go bankrupt within months of it's latest ride being built, not to mention, they do a lot of steel work for not just the amusement industry.

V2kid62489 08-17-2001 08:22 PM

yea Gio's not dead my prayers worked!!!

cgodsey 02-16-2002 12:55 AM

Gio is still alive and kicking...

Proof is here...

You'd be surprised at how many people actually still think Gio has quit the coaster business, or for that matter even exist still.

Raging Rider 02-16-2002 08:37 AM

They're not gone yet, and won't be for a long time. They have made some great coasters.

APJSFR1 02-16-2002 09:39 AM

Wow, Yes, that is great, I didn't even know that there were two different Giovanola Companies, sweet... I can't wait until they put one near me! I liked to see the two rides on TV specials and stuff, but I thought that all hope was lost. Yeah, woohoo, can't wait! Yes, yes yes

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

ArrowMineTrain 02-16-2002 10:47 AM

The thrillride side of the company is as dead as a doornail, be sure of that.
