RIP Dave Thomas, Founder of Wendys

Dave Thomas died around midnight last night... he was 69. He was the founder and senior chairman of Wendy's, and has appeared on the longest running ad campaign ever ("The founder's" ad campaign).

We have no idea why he died, but he had a heart attack in 1996 and has been on kidney dialysis since 2001.

I will miss him on the ads, as he seemed very nice and even comical. So, as a gesture of support, I suggest you go out and have a burger or chicken nuggets at a Wendy's in his honor.

I heard about this at about 7:45(Mountain time). I had just finished doing my morning chores and had turned the TV to CNNHN. I saw it on their ticker. The first thought that popped into my head was: "What will their comercials be like now?"
He is always in the Wendy's comercials. But now he is gone. So will they just have employees or something? I dunno.

It was very sad to hear, I didn't even know he was sick or had cancer or anything. It's true, the commercials won't be the same

Dave's death is a shame. He really came off as a great guy, an I'd take him over Ronald McDonald, Colonel Sanders or the Taco Bell dog any time. Next time I'm in Columbus, Ohio, I'll visit the original Wendy's on Broad Street in the man's honor.

I always go to a Wendy's when I'm in the USA - I prefer them over McDonalds anytime. It's just a pity there are about 3 of them in the whole of England!

Yeah, I just saw a honorary mention on CNN. It seems that he was a great man, and VERY active in charity, especially for adoption.

He was actually adopted himself. That was why he gave so much money to adoption agencies. Too bad I won't be able to get to a Wendy's anytime soon. Their food is great, especially the frosty!:*) :*) :*)
