Praiseland

I'm watching the Simpsons right now, and it is the episode with Praiseland. Would anyone want to go to this park? The miracle mask would be pretty cool. Quoth Chief Wiggum: "What mask? You want me to shoot everyone here?!" :D

I sure wouldn't want to go. I'm not sure if you had seen the ending when you wrote this, but the "miracles" turn out to be the result of a gas leak, causing Praiseland to shut down.

When played in syndication(reruns), every FOX station can play whatever episode they want.

But the simpsons arent shown locally!!! When you see the priviews for it, it states the Eastern and Central time for the showing. The stations might be different, but the simpsons are shown the same episode, at the same time. If not, why would they tell you what time it comes on in the Central Zone

The simpsons are shown locally on weekdays in the afternoon (or whenever when the station chooses to air them) here in detroit (and by that I mean suburbs;) ) Fox chose not to show the Simpsons on weekdays, maybe because UPN50 has the rights here? I know that in Florida the simpsons are shown (reruns) daily on Fox, its just a matter of what the stations want to show in the afternoon, just as some ABC stations show wheel of fortune and some NBC stations do, its a matter of who wants to show it, other than when networks choose to do national programing, such as Futurama at 7, King of the Hill at 7:30, Simpsons at 8 and Malcolm at 8:30 around the country, which the national network decides, hope i cleared it up ;)

actually, syndication doesn't give preference to the affiliate of the network that initially aired it (in this cas, FOX). this is illegal. so no, not every fox station has a right to syndication. this is because FOX broadcasting does not own the simpsons, its owned by their production company. it's their right to syndicate it, and its done most often by syndicating companies that handle it. it just so happens that many FOX affiliates choose to purchase syndication rights due to the SIMPSONS high popularity. local affiliates do NOT have control over WHAT episode they air--they don't buy a library of the episodes, the syndication companies control this. so syndication is only different from first-run in two ways--who is offering the show (syndication vs. the network), and the fact that in syndication the local affiliates can choose when to run the show. this is somewhat off topic, but i hope it helps to make sense of the issue.

EDITED to clarify that sometimes syndication companies do give choice each day, but its not total control over episode selection.

That was a funny episode - no coasters though.
(it was repeated in the UK a few days by coincidence)

Actually, it's Duff Gardens, and that looks like one awesome park! It actually has a rollercoaster.
