| | | What do you consider "normal"? I'm just curious what you think normal is (please no flaming)
Fine then, I don't think there is a such thing as "normal". People who say someone is normal is just referring to a person who is like them, and not to different from themselves. This is a very superficial world and I'm worried that we are heading into a downward slum. It's getting better a little only now that it has gone to far. We are already pretty low and we are slowly going further in the direction we shouldn't. It's sad when a child has to resort to violence only to get attention that was other wise not there becasue they were not "normal". I got teased A LOT when I was younger and all I was told by adults to take it or to fight back. Being the person I am I decided not to and that made me fall further out of the "normal" spectrum with the other kids and that resulted in more teasing and harrassment. Growing up I belived I was not "normal" and that I was different; It turns out I am different and don't fit the superficial "norm" of today's society. There's nothing I can really do to change that because it's not up to me to change the rest of the world, it's about me trying to be myself and no try to be someelse's "normal" becasue I'm not and I'm dang (no profanities rember) proud of it! Now then, What's your definition of normal?
If a mod feels this would be better placed somewhere else feel free to do so.

| | | Not to be rude or anything
But I consider normal a Thread on this forum that actually has a topic to share your opinions of and discuss.

| | | Normal is average. And that is what no one is. I think normal is derived from the average of thousands of factors put together. That's how we define normal.

| | | I think the term "normal" is almost nostalgic. In imagery, I couldn't say what normal looks like, although, like you, I am sure it is not me.
I grew up feeling the same way. I graduated High School in 1981, so I grew up and began "discovering myself" in the 1970's. There were definitely lots of trends and a sense of what the "in" crowd preferred. I was more of a loner and I guess it made me feel outside the norm. Alot of people say that all kids feel like outsiders in high school. I disagree. Additionally, I've just turned 39 years old and I still don't feel "normal". I think, however, that I am alot more objective about my feelings.
On reflection, it seems my feelings of being "normal" or not in my Junior High and High School years was more an off shoot of me being very clear about what I liked, enjoyed and valued as opposed to what the massess liked, enjoyed and valued. Although, I think I was and continue to evolve, I had definite opinions and thoughts about things that probably made me more rebellious and less accepting of a lot of the crap fed to my peers at the time. I think it alienated me from my peers as well as some of my teachers. I think it is these traits that fosters that "loner" feeling. After a while, I got tired of defending myself against those who didn't comprehend or want to hear what I thougt or why I chose to do what I did.

| | | Wasn't this thread locked earlier? I guess this thread isn't "normal" because it really doesn't make any sense to me. Normal? Well, I'm not "normal" by "normal" people's standards. I like roller coasters to a degree unimagined by most others, I'm a white kid from the Navajo Reservation and have experienced racism towards me, I like Broadway, I'm a very random person, etc. No, I am not "normal" and I don't really have anything to consider "normal" because I am anything but "normal."

| | | Uhhh. Yeah.
Is there such a thing as normal? What defines normal? Is there more than one type of normal?
To me, normal, in common terms, means nothing irregular. Everything's just fine. And to me, that is very boring. Me? I would rather fight in the front lines of WWIII than just sit and watch it on TV. Of course, I am somewhat crazy.

| | | I think the only totally, uncontested thing we can call normal nowadays is a "C" on a report card. That's as normal as something gets today.
